Got a to go for the below things and really confused why the hype: Chicken pakora : more batter than chicken, salt is barely there; very dry Gobi manchurian - definitely not good. Too much batter, not enough flavor. No balance between the tangy,spicy, salty tastes. Chicken choila - this one was pretty good Aloo paratha - haven't tried yet Paneer paratha - one of the worst things tried, Right from how unappetizing it looks to the dry, not well cooked through roti. It was more like a paneer naan. Lacha paratha- haven't tried yet Saffron lemon rice - nothing like lemon rice- can barely taste the lemon. It's the usual basmati rice tossed in some mustard, coriander, little bit of lemon. There isn't enough salt in the dish. Also very dry and oily. read more

This place is really good. We've grabbed takeout a couple times. The first time I just kind of randomly picked something I had never heard of with a bunch of vegetables and that was pretty good. The second time I got the rogen josh and that was also pretty good. My girlfriend always gets the paneer tikka, and that rules. I eat the leftovers on that. Next time I will probably get the butter chicken. The food is very spicy but I like that. May be too spicy for some, especially children. read more

I had just moved to Austin and after a long day of furniture shopping nearby I needed food - Curry Kitchen was nearby and at this point (a year ago - yes i am very late to writing this review) pretty new! It only had a handful of reviews but I figured lets give it a shot. I am so glad I did because WOW the food here is AMAZING. My husband and I was driving through the city and craved some Indian food! Did a quick Google search which lead us to Curry Kitchen! The service was great but the FOOOODDD?!?! Omg, that sh*t was good AF. We started off coconut shrimp and veggie samosas and followed that up with chicken biryani and the chicken momos!! This is the best Indian Restaurant in the Austin area! Their dishes are beautifully prepared and served on beautiful antique typical Indian plates. It feels so fancy. Okay what! I have discovered North Austin's secret: delicious Indian food. Maybe this is a well known fact or maybe I just had a good experience, but I highly recommend Curry Kitchen. I ordered take out, and when picking up my order, the restaurant staff was so friendly. I recommend trying the Samosa Chat and Butter Chicken with garlic naan. I didn't understand what a samosa chat was, but it seems like a deconstructed samosa covered in chutneys and served on a plate. Whatever it was, I really enjoyed it and would order it again. I wish I had taken a photo to share. I can't wait to try more dishes. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place! Firstly, I love how cute, clean and open this place is. The service is so warm and welcoming. You truly feel like you are being served with love The food was outstanding! We are vegetarian so we tried several main dishes and apps. Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta, onion bhaji, paneer pakora, chole bhature, Naan..everything was 'melt-in-your mouth' delicious!! We had to compliment the chef who is also the owner and extremely humble and professional with definite expertise in his field. I ordered food from the Yelp app for pickup. It was an easy process. When I arrived there I was going to wait in the parking lot since I was early. Then I decided to go inside just to check on my food. So glad I did since the food was ready 20-25 min earlier than what the app suggested. So if you order for pickup definitely don't wait until the time you were given and check if it's ready earlier. I was mostly craving Pani puri, but decided to order Samosa, Aalu Paratha, Chicken Jalfrejy and Murgh achari kabob. The highlight of the meal was the Murgh achari kabob. It was full of flavor and came with a side of Tikka Sauce. I was not feeling the texture of the Pani puri and the Samosa was kinda over fried. Not going to lie, my husband and I thought that the reviews for this place had to be fake...... Nope: The food is DIVINE. Since this was our first time visiting, we went with a classic Tikka Masala... and Curry Kitchen's is hands down the best I have ever had. I am a certified white woman with a potato tongue so the Medium spice level had enough heat to be fun, but not painful. The portion was just right for two adults to share and comfortably have some leftovers. And the rice!!!: I learned that I have truly never experienced perfectly cooked rice until eating at Curry Kitchen, so that was genuinely life changing. I was disappointed that we only received one piece of Naan in the $2 naan order, but that is the only "complaint" I can come up with to make this review look constructive. Holy cow. This is one of the best Indian restaurants I had ever had. The food is absolutely incredible here with excellent portions for a fair price. We had the fish curry (made with sea bass), the garlic naan, the lamb korma, the fried onions and the chickpea fried chicken, and the mango lassi as well. Everything we had was so well done. There's honestly nothing I would change. Not only that, but the people here are just so phenomenal. We did a pickup order. Vegetable Curry, Naan, Lamb Rogan Josh. Overall it wasn't *bad*, but I would say I was disappointed in contrast to many of these reviews. The Veggie curry was very good (per my wife). We had asked for that mild, and that's what we got. Solid. I don't know if its the pack-up or what but the Naan was...not good. First Naan i've ever had that I would call 'a bit soggy'. Online I had asked for my Rogan Josh to be 'medium' spicy. Trust me when I say I am no lightweight on spicy. I have intentionally ordered things where I had to assure the server I would still pay if I tapped out -- and I ate most of those dishes. This Rogan Josh was *absurdly* spicy. Like they just accidentally dropped what they were dispensing it out of straight into the dish, shrugged, and shipped it out anyways. It was hardly edible. I barely finished a third of it before reminding myself that I hadn't signed up for a capsaicin-eating competition. Could just be bad luck. I might try them again sometime, though I'll be sure to clarify the spice levels when I am there. read more

A friend recommended this new place as the best Indian food he has had, so I came for lunch. The place is very clean, and the server was super friendly. The place seems to be a family run place. I perused the menu, and the choices were extensive, with all the standard offerings, as well as unique options. The vegan and vegetable options were a delight to my wife, while I looked at their lamb and goat dishes. Started the meal with chicken choila, a Nepali dish. Whatever the "himalayan" sauce was, it was delish! Nice tanginess and spices with a citrus flavor. The next course was Goat curry. I had a lot of anticipation, as I love goat dishes. One bite, and I was in heaven... or nirvana? It reminded me of my favorite Indian restaurant in Norcal. The spices balance were spot on, and the goat was more tender than other places I've eaten at. Their naan btw, is fresh made in their clay oven. You can taste the difference. I also had their momo, the "potstickers" steamed with a sauce on side. This place is a hidden gem. I stumbled upon Curry Kitchen on Yelp while in the area, and at first I was skeptical as the kitchen had 5 stars and had just opened, but this place is worth every star! The food is reasonably priced and the restaurant itself is very clean. I felt safe eating there as there was ample space between the tables. We ordered butter masala with paneer, some sort of pickle curry, fish curry, samosas, chicken pakora and chili paneer. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. Over all, it was the best Indian food I've had since living in Austin. It was flavorful and fresh, and the service was wonderful. The chef even came out to ask how everything tasted and informed us that he only uses fresh ingredient and makes everything from scratch. He also informed us that in all of his sea food dishes, he only uses sea bass or mahi. (We had the sea bass and it was banger) We will definitely be recommending this place to our friends and hope to be eating here again soon!!! read more

Don't be fooled by the Americanized name! This is the real deal! I'm having a hard time deciding where to start, so let's start with the appetizers and drinks ;) We started off with iced sweet tea. As we sipped the first sip I think we both looked at the glasses in amazement. It's sweet chai tea and it is amazing. They brew the tea fresh in house, and again I can only say, it is outstanding! My wife and I were so excited to see onion bhajis on the menu, and they were absolutely fantastic! We have returned more times than I remember at this point, and everything we have ordered has been right on the mark.
