    Chicken curry with nann
    Carl C.

Curry express seems to be at every food court, so I thought I would try it for lunch today. Honestly the curry was a bit bland, and the sauce was a bit watery. The chicken is tender but the flavour is just so-so. I was expecting it to be a bit more flavourful and have more spices, but I guess they watered it down a bit. Maybe the other curries are more flavourful. The nann is quite good, really soft and a good size. Overall, everything tasted alright, nothing special.

If this was a restaurant I would not give it more than 3 stars, but this is a food court and deserves 4 stars.

They have a big tv above the bar and above the entrance that was showing the hockey game. It's a small storefront entrance on a busy street but you couldn't hear the street noise. The food was AMAZING. We got the goat biryani, chicken tikka masala, samosas, garlic naan, mango lassi and a hot chai. Big delicious portions of everything. The service was ok, they were busy and potentially less attentive than usual. Anyway, would definitely go back again.

However it is not focused and instead provides a little bit of the region for everyone (Nepal, China, India, Pakistani influences). Came in for lunch on a weekday. Quickly seated and tended to by the staff. Interior is more of a diner scene than nice cafe. Bathrooms are gender neutral and clean but not nice. Here's my three things: 1) I got a lunch special featuring fish peckora, and tandoor chicken. Good flavor but missed on the real spice flavors. Veg salad was sour and worked with the rest of the plate. 2) These folks can make some NAAN! The Naan stole the show. Sweet, salty and crisp. 3) Price wise you can fill up and have a drink for $25-30CAN.

They gave two slices of naan bread. The masala chicken is good, but the portion is smaller than other places. The restaurant is quite small with large tables. The location is central and it was easy to find street parking on Main Street. Even though it was a Saturday, we were the only table for most of the evening. We were a bit anxious because of the lack of customers; however, there were delivery drivers picking up orders regularly, so it looks like most people did not dine in. The place is clean and seating was comfortable. There is a bell on the table for us to call the server when we were ready to order. We ordered the Lamb Shan-e-Babur that serves 2, the Prawn Coconut, and the Chicken Karahi. The dishes do not come with any rice or naan, so we had 2 orders of rice and 2 orders of naan. Even though the rice portion was generous, we still found it quite pricy. Each of us was given a bottle of water (Pure Life), unnecessary use of plastic is not something that I like to see. And even worse was the surprise when we got the bill that there was a charge for it! The food was delivered by a robot. The portion was reasonable and the taste was good. The lamb was well cooked and tender, the prawns tasted very fresh, and the chicken had the perfect taste, the spice level was just right for all of us. The only thing that was a problem was there were some small sharp broken pieces of bone in the Chicken Karahi, my friend had a painful bite when she thought she was only having the sauce on rice. I would come back for the taste of the food, but I will definitely turn down the bottled water.

We ordered a kebab meat platter and it definitely delivers on portion size. The standout for me was the grilled meats, especially the lamb chops and chicken kebabs. They were well-seasoned, nicely charred, and not dry (which is where a lot of places miss the mark). The rice was fragrant and paired well with everything, though pretty standard. Service was good. The atmosphere leans traditional and a bit dated, but it fits the vibe of the place. Overall: worth going for if you're craving grilled meats and a filling meal, just don't expect anything particularly refined. It's about comfort food and generous portions.

This was my first time visiting the restaurant, and the food and service were both excellent. Looking forward to my next return. My friend and I decided the Horseman Specialty Platter which serves 2 people. We started with the Humous (yellow split pea), Sabzi Mast (spinach & yogurt dip), pita bread and a salad with cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes and feta cheese. The platter was filled with a delicious rice, baked eggplant, potatoes and 3 meats (chicken kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab, Lamb Shoulder Chop). We couldn't finish as there was so much food, so took some home. We finished with Pistachio Ice Cream (pistachio, saffron & rosewater) and it was rich and delicate and a perfect ending. Once of the best I had in town. Décor is tradition and relaxing. You can ask for the traditional floor seating or table. Reservation recommended but was can early and they were able to accommodate us. Free mall complex parking but ensure you register. Many metered parking on the streets within 2-3 block radius. The #50 bus stopped right in front of the restaurant.

We felt like kids in a candy store, eager to explore the vibrant, exotic flavours. The mango-infused dishes were a standout! The service was impeccable. One server even followed us outside just to hand us cardamom cookies for the road. Many restaurants treat Dine Out as a budget-set menu, but East is East used it to truly showcase their best work. We left with new favorites and a plan to return very soon.
