Free popcorn sometimes, friendly staff, Benjamin Moore paint, locally owned vs. going to the big-box store for basics. They don't have any stock in the way of small kitchen appliances or furniture like other Ace Hardwares, but they do have some cutesy things and last-minute gifts. Be sure to say hi to Ace the guinea pig. They close at 4 on Sundays, so plan accordingly. read more

Every time I'm in this store I'm asked if I need help, am I finding everything, how am I doing. Genuine, organic guest service is clearly top priority by the owners/managers of this hardware store. Working in retail for many years I know it can be difficult to find and keep a staff of people that are genuinely committed to providing world class guest service like this place does so it's a testament to the culture they clearly create. Just today the gentleman ringing me out went out of his way to offer my son a lollipop as we were leaving. As a parent that extra touch puts a smile on my face bigger even than the one it puts on my young sons. They always have what I'm looking for (and more). And most importantly to so many - their prices are just as good if not better than any of their big box store competitors. Can't say enough about stores that really stand out the way they do. If you want to go in and wander around and not have anybody pay any attention to you, forget it . Go to Home Depot or Lowe's. This pace is the opposite. Usually there is someone near the door and offers to help right away. And they are VERY helpful. If you need to peruse your choices and mull things over, like I do, then just tell 'em. They will leave you alone to shop as you please but when you need help in finding something or information or advice they are happy to help. After not being satisfied with the answer from the local dedicated paint store to a specific paint problem I was having, I stopped at Curry's and asked if they had a particular "paint" person. I was hooked up with a young lady who was very patient with my overly detailed and confusing scenario of what had happened. She looked up the product on her computer. Read all about it. Then made a phone call to the manager of the Quincy store and got me just the information I needed. Which was from the said manager's personal experience with this particular primer. All this without my even buying anything. Try that at Home Depot! read more

Here to help, but I am sorry. I have been going here since it opened in 2009. Everyone here is absolutley fabulous...except for one. He has been mentioned by my friends, and wife. She won't go in there for fear of seeing him. He's huge, and bald and has a small beard on his chin. I was there one sat for over an hour picking out paint. He walked around, talked onn his phone about 4 times and watched tv ALOT. I know it was all perosnal calls becuase he ended with "love ya too". Ok I'm in management and this would never ever fly. On another occaision, I went in and found one of my favorite sales associates and began having them help me. Then HE came out of nowhere and practically pushed the sales girl aside and did not even know what he was doing or what I needed. I was already being helped. The sales girl appologized, and I said, No, I'm sorry. read more

I know nothing about hardware, tools, paint, etc. Wait, correction - I DIDN'T know anything about hardware, tools, paint, etc, until I went to Curry Ace and talked to the most helpful employees ever. I've been in here numerous times to buy paint, and they are so eager to help me get the right kind of paint for whatever project I'm working on, and they have always been willing and able to mix up samples for us - I am not indecisive, so we have required quite a few samples. They guided us through deck stains, and helped me when I needed to buy safer paint when I was pregnant, and then I was back to buy spraypaint and one of the employees spent far more time than was necessary with me, explaining the various coats of spraypaint and how many cans I would need for my project. They have a point reward system, too, so we sometimes get vouchers in the mail for $5. If only they would send the employees over to our house to actually paint the place... :) read more
