I have used Current Electrical Systems two times.  The fact that I used them a second time speaks volumes for my first experience.  The second time I had a ceiling fan installed in a bedroom.  The room already had a working ceiling light in front of a closet and I wanted to retain that.  I had purchased the fan ahead of time. I wanted the fan to be centered in the room and have it controlled independently, which meant they needed to add to the existing wall box. The appointment was for 8 AM, Travis pulled into my driveway at 7:58 AM.  Travis was punctual, professional and personable.  He created very little mess and what mess he did create he cleaned up after himself.  I am so glad I finally did this after years of debating. The first time I used them, I had a bathroom ceiling fan removed and a larger one installed, which meant increasing the size of the cavity in the ceiling.  I don't remember the name of the electrician, but he was similarly excellent.  Tim the owner is good to work with as well. read more

They couldn't come when scheduled. When they started the work in September 2024 Tim changed his estimate from $4800 to $6500 for a new breaker panel and generator transfer switch. While Josh did professional grade work, his partner Kurt tore up a drywall ceiling that they said required a small opening; then he drilled a large hole up through my hallway floor! Tim said he would pay for the damage but decided it wad too much money so he stiffed me thr last $453.11. I also had to do the drywall repair that they promised to take care of. Tim gave MissDig wrong instructions for the ground rods as well as letting the permit lapse. I had to call MissDig myself to get them back out. It wasn't until December that Josh came back out to install the ground rods so I could get the city inspectors approval. Tim also charged me $350 for an $88 city electrical permit that he didn't obtain until I complained to the city. Never again! read more

They will milk the hours and lie about supplies used. A one day job will turn into 4,300 dollars real quick. Wait the extra month to hire a real electrical company that doesn't "charge by the hour" and can't be there the next day like Tim tells everybody. read more

I could not be more pleased with the professionals at Current Electrical Systems. Punctual, knowledgeable, always go the extra mile, extremely reliable. They have saved me numerous times with separate issues on my current home and also installed my EV charger. Highly recommend - you can't do any better than these guys! read more

We have been in contact with this company for 4 months to do some very simple work to hook up a power inlet for a small generator we bought. We have had 5 appointments over the past 4 months. They have only showed up for one. They don't show, They don't call to explain why. We are 2 physicians and have blocked off work time for these appointments. A waste of time. So unprofessional. I am disgusted with mine and my husband's time wasted. Do not use this company. ZERO stars if that were possible here. read more

Current electrical installed a home EV charger . we needed to add a panel and second meter and overall good except for the length of time it took and cost of service mainly due to delays with their scheduling error and then delays with DTE . They charge by the hour and as a customer I feel it's a bit judgmental on extact hours worked as they go and buy material after they come to the house for the job , they already know what's needed to be done based on the initial visit to scope the work. read more

UPDATE 6/10/22: I had 3 lights swapped out for a reasonable price. The check was deposited 6 days later. Nearly a month after the installation, I get an invoice from the owner for that job for $80 higher than what I had paid without any note implying that I had not paid for it. After several back and forths, it seems that my check had been lost. I asked for final confirmation that the payment was all squared away since the money was already deposited and but never heard back. I had a great experience with the two installs but this interaction about the payment was really awkward and unprofessional. I don't know if I'll be using them again in the future if they can't keep track of services I already paid for... read more

Very satisfied with Current Electrical! Tim responded within a day to our inquiry (we called many places, only one called back and gave us an appt for two months from now). Current managed to squeeze us in on a Saturday morning. The technician was very polite and friendly, he repaired our basement ceiling lighting quickly and without any issues. We found this company by looking at their Google reviews, hoping that they would be reliable and competent, but how wrong we were. We called them and explained that we needed two dimmers to be installed and a garage door light sensor to be serviced. They said they would charge 160 dollars for an hour. One of their technicians, Jeremy, showed up on Oct. 4th, at 8:57, right on time. My wife showed him the job in 5-10 minutes. Then he left our house without saying anything and didn't show up until 12:30 and this time he brought another technician David. They spent 1.5 hours together and installed pipes and 5 different junction boxes in the garage and a remote switch in the house, claiming that the sensor will fail every year and creating unnecessary jobs, so they can charge me more. He was lying, a dusk to dawn sensor is giving 18 years of warranty. Even though they only worked 1.5 hours, 12:30 to 14:00pm they charged me 2.5 hours for David and 5 hours for Jeremy. I wasn't informed I would be charged 320 dollars for an hour because now there are 2 of them. Even so, they were only here 1.5 hours, not 7.5 hours. So I thought this type of company is everywhere so forget it. Last week, one of the lights was working irregularly. How did they even manage that? So this company cheats and charges me for the time they are not even here, but they are so incompetent they can't even get the job done right. I can't understand how certified electricians can do this kind of faulty job. I called on Oct. 13th the owner of Current Electric, Tim. I told him the whole story and asked him how re-wiring of 2 lights and changing 2 switches to dimmers can take 7.5 hours. He was supposed to do his "due diligence" and figure out the time and also fix the faulty work. Of course you guessed that right, he never called back. Here I am, paid 5x160 total of 800 dollars when they weren't here that long. and my lights are still not working. I am not even talking about the exaggerated cost of materials - 390 dollars for re-wiring of 2 lights, where a new sensor is around 15 dollars. I will never use Current Electric again and please be warned on how they operate. I also don't understand how there is no tax information on the receipt. read more

Very disorganized and unreliable. I called to have someone take a look at my project and give an estimate. The owner asked me several questions over the phone and said based on that he didn't need to come out. He could do the job in a half day and charge $160/hour. He told me though that I would need to call DTE and get a work order ticket (which I had never heard of but I did). I scheduled an appointment for the following Friday but realized an hour later I would be out of town. I called, canceled the Friday appointment and rescheduled for the following Monday. A subordinate showed up at my house on Friday (while I was OOT). I mistakenly told him to go ahead since all the work was in my garage and I could open the garage door for him. Bottom line is he did something totally different than what I discussed with the owner (the subordinate said the owner had not relayed any of our discussion). I have an invoice for $1,000 and the job will have to be completely redone (by someone else obviously). When I reached out to the owner he denied that I had told him any of the things that needed to be done (essentially; I'm a liar). He said that if I had told him over the phone what I wanted he would have told me to get a work order ticket from DTE first (you can't make this stuff up!). I think they are likely competent electricians but hopelessly unorganized. I refuse to reward incompetence so will get another contractor to do the job. If you hire them, keep a close eye on what they are doing. read more

DO NOT HIRE!! We had one of the worst service experiences ever with this company. I have no idea where they get all the good reviews from, but take the time to read the other 1-star reviews because they are spot on. I'll try to keep it as brief as I can: they charged us $50 more than the original hourly rate quoted, took WAY more time than was originally quoted (and we even reduced the scope of work a ton), AND they lied about the time they worked by 4 hours (over $600). When we challenged the time, Tim (the owner it seems) was unbelievably rude and even accused us of trying to avoid paying. He has absolutely no sense of customer service. He kept telling us to look at the reviews which made me feel like the reviews are fake and also had nothing to do with our experience. He didn't care, he was a complete jerk. We asked him multiple times to account for the time he tried charging us for, and he could not give us any break down of how he came to the charged time. Thank goodness we have an alarm system where we could PROVE that they were not here nearly the amount of time charged. When we threatened with the alarm system data, he suddenly reduced the invoice by 4 hours...!!! Just an absolutely horrible experience, mostly because of Tim. The electricians themselves were fine, albeit slow, and the hourly rate we were charged was ridiculously high compared to other companies in the area. Didn't show up when they were supposed to so I called to get an ET and found out they had scheduled the wrong day. I got an apology but I had to insist that they honor their commitment to do the work that day. The work was top notch and I would use them again but I would advise you to confirm your appointment beforehand. read more

This is my second time using Current Electrical, and I have been very pleased both times. The first time, they came out to disconnect the wiring from an old hot tub we were having removed. Today they were just out to replace two lighting fixtures in the kitchen. The repairman was prompt, polite, and quite fast in his work--which is nice, since they charge by the hour. I have to say, the hourly rate is very reasonable! Our lights work and look great. I will be using Current for all our electrical needs! read more

One thing i dread is having to hire a contractor or service professional. Current Electrical has been wonderful. I have used them 2 times now. Once as an emergency service and the other for a planned replacement of a outdoor gfi and to run electrical for a sump pump. They show up as planned, they are pleasant, and they know what they are doing. They are priced competitively. read more

They originally didnt show up at the scheduled time. I had taken off work too so I was pretty ticked. When I called and spoke to the manager, he called his best Technician and assured me that he was on his way and thanked me for the chance to recover. Once the Tech showed up, and I'm mad I am forgetting his name, he was great. Everything I expect from someone coming to perform work in my home. Couldnt be happier and will absolutely be calling them for my next job, well as soon as I remember the Tech's name! read more
