I researched for over a year before investing with the "right heating company" that handled the "right geo-thermal heating / cooling system". Although cost was a concern, it was not as important to me as getting it done right the first time. I had had experiences with 3 previous propane furnaces (yes, 3!) and several service/ repair / install companies in my 30-year old home. My current propane furnace was eating my wallet, and it never seemed to create a warm environment. I knew I needed something to make my house warm in the winter (seriously ill spouse, who was always cold), and there was no way to have natural gas piped to my home. I started looking into geo-thermal reviews on-line, and studying what I might need. Not knowing what kind of price-point I was going to be hit with, I was vulnerable. Knowledge was my only defense. Ever since the newer geo-thermal closed-fluid forced-air systems hit the market, many wanna-be geo-thermal furnace companies wanted in on this big ticket item. (I had some really low-ball prices thrown at me in the process of learning...glad I hesitated) The local wholesale HVAC supply company was carrying one brand in particular, and it was pretty highly rated...but I wasn't convinced. Every "Joe-Furnace" man was able to buy and install the thing with little to no experience. (Are they going to be in business 2-years after the install?) Since I am also a remodeling contractor, I had a working relationship with another local heating contractor...who I had assumed I would be contracting for my own home. They came up with a proposal with the commonly sold unit, and hit me with their price. It was about what I was expecting if I were not someone who hired them regularly for much of my professional remodeling work. So, I wanted second price to compare...and I felt strongly about what I had read regarding Water Furnace. So I contacted Water Furnace, and they referred me to Lakeside Service. John came out and did an evaluation. Within a day or two, I had a price that was a bit less than my regular HVAC contractor...and with that were some extra's I had asked for, along with the premium Envision model Water Furnace. I was impressed with how Lakeside was a locally owned business that had grown by service reputation over the years. John explained how long it would take, who would be doing my install, how well trained the service personnel were. He made me feel very comfortable in my investment. It's been 3 years since having my Water Furnace heating and cooling my home, and providing my hot water. I've never regretted the cost (about like buying a Buick), since now I'm warm in the winter, comfortable in the summer, and no noisy air conditioner running at the back door. Yes, I have had one warranty service call since the install...and Lakeside took care of it promptly. I schedule an appointment for checking up on our water heater. The technician came on time, which is great. However, he knew nothing about our water heater. He took some time to review the manual and told me he did not bring the right screwdriver, he can't open the panel. Then he called another technician, it appears that the technician over the phone knows much better than him. He guided our technician to measure the volt on our water heater and it turns out it is the electric problem. The technician on the phone also guided him to the outside to find the fuse and breaker, but he could not find it. He charged us $ 99, which includes $59 for the trip and $40 for 30 mins work. The thing is he used 30 mins to tell me it is the electrical problem and he can't help. I understand he is not an electrician, however, does he need 30 mins to determine it is the electric problem? There is no display on the screen, the machine is completely off, not running, there is no machine running noise at all and there is no power switch. Isn't it the first thing to check? I hired this company since they installed the furnace for us. The installation was smooth and everybody was very polite at that time. I was so impressed that I recommended this company to several of my friends. But this time, I got really frustrated. Our community used Lakeside for annual furnace checkup, my neighbor replaced their water heater last fall, I expected them to know more about our community or at least, know where is the breaker for water heater, but apparently, this technician knows nothing. After he left, I called our community center and they told me the breaker is outside the house in the wooden box, where he stood for a few minutes. He would find it if he opens that box, but he did not. We found a blown fuse and replaced that. Well, the bottom line is if you are looking for somebody to install a furnace, I think their company is good, but if you are looking for somebody to fix your water heater or install a new water heater, it is safe not to go for this company since my neighbor told me they have to call them in a month after they installed their new water heater, since they did not do a good job at the first place. The technician is polite, came on time, so I gave two-star. [UPDATE] The general manager John replied to my review. He mentioned their policy, "When a technician cannot perform a repair because of his skill level our policy is to get another technician out to assist him, and when we cannot complete a repair within our company's resources, our policy is to give a referral and then not charge for the service visit". I like this policy, it is very considerable for customers. I re-rated to five stars for their responsive and reliable. With this policy, I would consider continuing to use Lakeside and will continue to recommend Lakeside. read more

I was recommended Lakeside by a family friend and I am so glad they did. From my very first experience with the sales department to the technicians that come once a year to service the furnace and A/C units have been phenomenal. The sales department came out to my work to have the sales agreement signed because they didn't want me to go out of my way. The service department has also been great every year. The first year I had my furnace it stopped working. It was a complete fluke that Carrier sent Lakeside a bad part. They came out late at night right away to fix the issue immediately. Also, I feel like the service department goes above and beyond what you pay for a cleaning. They take your furnace and A/C apart and clean everything. It's amazing that they can get all that done in just a few hours. And lastly, my A/C unit was working fine, but had a knock to it when it turned on. We had a gas leak from our fireplace that was found during a home inspection. After confirming with Consumers Energy that there was a leak and them showing us where the leak was we called a different local company to repair and they spent two hours here and claimed there was no leak contrary to two other people saying there was. My husband and I agreed we needed a second opinion so we called Lakeside. Best decision. Dennis arrived right after 10 (they gave us a window from 10-1 when he'd arrive) and thoroughly checked out the whole fireplace and found a very small leak right where it was supposed to be and a bigger leak at the turn on valve. He repaired both and was gone within two hours. We're so pleased we called them and they could fix the leak! And we paid $50 more for him to find AND repair the leaks than we did to the other company that wasn't even able to find a single leak. read more

Our furnace finally died after 24 years and I called Lakeside Service and a tech was out within an hour. After determining the heat exchanger had a large hole in it and carbon monoxide was leaking out, he shut it down. He called their sales representative, Conor, who was out within a half hour and thoroughly explained all my options. Within 2 hours, we had two more techs out with a new furnace, air purifier and a humidifier. They were extremely professional and knowledgeable and the installation could not have gone better. Our heat stopped working the week that we brought our newborn son home from the hospital.
