Crain Heating and Cooling installed a new Lennox gas furnace in my home. They gave me a good price and everything went off without a hitch. The new furnace works fine. I would use Crain again without hesitation. read more

Super happy with this company! They replaced my 20 year old furnace. With elite series Lenox, new filtration system and humidifier. Very happy with the installation and attention to details. They kept everything clean, covered all walkways with tarp. The duct work was also neater, Compared to my old one. They added a Ptrap for easy cleaning. The unit itself runs great, house feels more comfortable. Much Even temperature across the levels. The crew was very efficient. They did have a hiccup. But they came back and fixed the following day. They did not even take payment before I am happy. They were not the cheapest. But their quote was much better than most other companies in the area. I would definitely reuse this company and recommend to anyone. read more

My furnace fan died after 18 years. Initially, I tried another company. They came out and said it is either the motor or the board. I thought they should be able to diagnose better than a guess. I called Crain and they were out to the house the next day. They plugged in a tester and informed me that it was the motor control module that was bad. The cost to repair was $1200.00 and the system was 18 years old. I elected to have a complete system (furnace and AC) installed. Crain was there the next day and did a complete install in one day. There was some miscommunication about Lennox financing but that issue falls to Lennox rather than Crain. Workers were prompt and courteous. They covered my basement carpet with a tarp and even covered my wood flooring steps with a tarp trying to be overly cautious of my home. I thought the tarp on the steps was dangerous for them but that's what they did. I don't believe the cost of the system was out of line. Prompt service, good pricing, courteous workers, steps taken to protect my home, and the install went smoothly. Not sure what more you could ask for. There is always someone who will find fault with some minuscule detail but they did a good job for me. The most important question, Would I recommend this company to you. Answer, Yes. I was pleased with their service and would like to use them in the future. read more

One of our a/c units decided to bite the dust right as we were trying to sell our home. We called Crain on a Monday, Cody came out and gave us an estimate on Tuesday and our new unit was installed by Ian and Matthew on Thursday. Great product, great service and great communication. We are very happy with our service! read more

As a new resident in an old house, I had a non-functional 90s-vintage AC unit. I chose Crain to replace it with a Lennox. Tear out and installation went smoothly, everything was done in a reasonable amount of time and was done cleanly and quietly. New unit works great and interfaces with my digital thermostat and existing furnace with no issues. There was only one issue with install - the guy who came to quote didn't account for the increased size of the new unit, so the installers had to actually remove part of my brick landscape border to fit the pad for the new unit. They did it cleanly and let me know before they changed anything, but it took extra time and I would have liked to know that was going to be necessary before the install. read more

Very responsive but tech came out to service AC and told me it was $4000 to replace or $1000-$1400 to refill r-22 coolant. He stated it was roughly $200 per lb of coolant and it was very expensive because it's the older coolant...it's $10-30 per lb and sold on eBay on top of that. Had someone come out and fix the leak and recharge the system with 4lbs (not 7 like we were told) for $218. The people are very nice but they play the "it's old and cost too much to fix so just replace it" card to often and now I will not use this company or recommend anyone to use them. It's a shame companies are taking this approach so quickly to make more money. The funny things is this was almost the exact same line we were fed with our furnace 4yrs ago. Step it up people. Customer service is still important. read more

I cannot say enough about Crain and their crew. Everyone, and I mean everyone, from Melissa who I initially spoke with on the phone, to the technician who came out to give me a quote and the installers who finished the job. They all were beyond professional and treated myself and my home with the utmost respect. When one has to have a whole AC unit replaced in the middle of summer, well there's not much pleasant to say about that... thank goodness I found Crain, I would have been in some hot water LOL what a great company read more

Pleased with all the work, including installation (furnace & AC) and follow-up. Even signed up for additional (a water heater) work. All the work is as good as I could have asked for. Even the Inspectors validated the work saying "they always do good work". Wish it all cost less but that applies to just about everything today. If you are in market for HVAC, make sure you put them on your shopping list. read more

They sent someone same-day to look at our furnace. Brent was amazing and super friendly and helpful. Once he determined the problem, he helped us choose a solution that fit our budget and our needs. Crain Heating & Cooling was able to install a new furnace next day! The installation team worked quickly to get our house heated again. Great company with great people. read more

Ted from Crain -Really they should be glad to have a guy like him working for their company. very dedicated to finding the problem found the problem something very unusual was causing the blower to stop and the furnace to turn off. A big shout out to Cody, who did the estimate on the new A/C and installation. He explained everything clearly and answered my questions honestly. Kudos to Sean and Nate who installed the new unit. They were very professional and courteous. They cleaned up after the work was done. Sean even offered to install the smart thermostat. Unfortunately, I didn't have it yet. They gave me a timeline for the work to be done and pretty much, they stuck with it. Awesome job guys! From the beginning of the interaction on Yelp about getting an estimate until the end of the job, everything was positive. I'm glad to have chosen their company to do the work. Thank you Audrey Crain for the timely communication through email. read more

Outrageously expensive! I have been dealing with these guys for several years and they used to provide good service at a reasonable price. I am not sure what happened in the past two years that made them jack up their prices across the board. Expect to pay 2-3 times the price of other local heating/ cooling businesses. I used to call them for service without shopping around or seeking other quotes because I had loyalty and trust for whatever value they provided. This is something that I cannot do anymore. Do your homework. Get multiple quotes and compare for yourself. read more

Amazing service, especially while working in our house today. They removed and installed our furnace and air conditioner for a great price in timely fashion. We just bought our house 2 years ago and the air-conditioner never worked properly. We had a bad experience with a plumber a few months ago so I did some extra research before calling around. I called up crane and they sent out a specialist. My wife was at home and they called me with information - our 1988 furnace and 1989 A/C needed to be replaced. They answered all of my detailed questions and the quote looked good after searching around online. We had a group of visitors spending the week at our house, so they agreed to fill up the Freon in the meantime while they were visiting, and install the new appliance when they were gone. The Crain employees showed up at 8:45am. They worked hard all day, removed all of the old appliance parts and answered all the questions I had while being pleasant visitors to our house. I highly recommend their service. The value of our house goes up and we can more efficiently live more comfortably - it's all good. read more

Crain Heating and Cooling - Final product : 95% efficient Lennox Furnace - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Livonia, Michigan

Even though here are heating and cooling companies right here in Ann Arbor, I originally used Crain Heating and Cooling due to their Yelp reviews (yes, they come all the way out here!), and have used them several times and was never disappointed. They will come out as soon as possible, same day or next day most of the time, and get things done right! The first time I called them was when our thermostat started to burn out so we couldn't see the temperature anymore. They brought out several options to choose from and got the job done fast and with a great replacement that was fairly priced. This time they just came out when my A/C broke. They said they've been so inundated with calls in this first heat wave that they had to turn off their phones to catch up at one point, yet they still made me feel like a priority. Even with the amount of orders I'm sure they were filling, the time from my call scheduling an appointment until a repaired unit was two days, and that was only because they had to order a part. My time window for the final repair was from 4-8 pm, and when 7:30 or so rolled around without a call, I assumed they were just going to put me off til tomorrow. But lo and behold I got a call at 7:59 letting me know they were just leaving West Bloomfield but were still coming. At 9:30 at night, I finally had functioning A/C! I don't know of any other companies that still honor the date they gave even if they are running that late. I was thrilled. My only complaint, and this isn't enough to knock off a star, is their phone system. I had a couple different issues with it- one time my phone rang when the technician was on his way over but when I answered it was just their voicemail, and another time their office called me, but when I answered it rang a few more times before someone picked up. They could use a more streamlined service. However, to their credit they check their voicemail and call back anytime before 9 pm, which was awesome (and helpful since my repair window was after 5:00). I would recommend Crain to anyone living in their service area! read more

Just had an entire Lennox system installed. The salesman was polite and knowledgeable. The installers were courteous and everyone wore the booties so not to track dirt through the house. Cody is an excellent quoter...gave me three different prices for options and got it to me quickly. Very thoroughly id'd everything. Able to schedule quickly. Guys that did the job were very nice, knowledgeable and professional. They were so friendly discussing maintenance needs and even how the system operated. They even asked if they could clean up my foyer from unavoidable slight winter tracks left. Prices Fair, Quality products, Good service. Nice guys. read more

Our 40 year old furnace went out in our home and called three different companies to get estimates on having a new furnace installed and Crain Heating and Cooling was the one we chose because of their professionalism, attention to detail, competitive pricing with a known product like Lennox furnace and service reviews of 5 stars. Our comfort advisor Cody came out and gave a great assessment of our situation and we scheduled a installation date and Cody even left us a portable heater until that date. Jason and crew came out and installed our new furnace and explain the care and maintenance for it before leaving. I highly recommended Crain Heating and Cooling for all or your HVAC needs...... My air conditioner died dramatically during a pandemic and a heat wave. This company was easy to deal with, came promptly, and installed a new AC unit for a reasonable price. Even fixed my nest thermostat while they were here. They are supposed to call me to come check on my new AC within a year. Might consider purchasing a new furnace from them as well. Will update this when/if I do. read more

If I could I would give zero stars. Just awful. I called and they gave me a time frame from 12 pm - 5:00 pm. So let's just start with the 5 hour time frame. So I decided to give them a try despite the large time frame. Then at 4:30, on the day I was waiting, I called their main number because no one had called yet telling me they were on the way. I was told they would look into it. Two minutes later the main office calls back and tells me that unfortunately the tech assigned to my job is still at another one and they can extend the time frame and he could be there some time between 4 pm and 8 pm or they could come the next day between 12 - 5 pm. NO THANKS! I have spent enough time waiting for NO one to show up! Just awful! Do not bother with them! read more

Definitely A+ service. Everyone is nice and helpful. This goes for the individuals who schedule appointments to the technician who came to my house. Their prices are reasonable for the area. Shout out to Mike P who worked on my AC unit despite the poor weather conditions. read more

Fantastic. Came out and fixed problem immediately. Offered to help with install of nest via phone. Can't say enough.

After Family Heating & Cooling told me they couldn't get me in for weeks, I decided to start taking references from other people when it comes to having my furnace maintenance. My friends told me how Crain Heating & Cooling was awesome and very affordable. So I immediately called and the lady got me in right away!! We were moving so we were in a time crunch. Jason was very fast, honest and efficient- super friendly too! I will definitely be using them in the future in my new home! I definitely recommend them to anyone in Canton, Livonia, or the surrounding areas. read more

Very prompt and professional service. I called during what seemed to be a very busy morning for them. However staff was still very pleasant and was able to get me on the schedule that day. Tech Jason arrived on site five hours after my trouble call. Jason was able to fix issue in less than 30 mins and only charged me for the service call. It was by no means a big job for Crain but it was important to me and they understood that. I had previously worked with Belleville Canton Heating and AC two months prior to this issue and the service was very poor, rude and expensive. I was charged $200 for less than 30 mins of work and I feel the issue was not serviced properly. When I called back regarding my current issue as it was very similar I was talked to in a very rude manner and was informed he would call me back in a few days when he could fit me in his schedule. Five days later and still no call. I will have Crain come out and do a full inspection to assure I have no surprises when I start using the furnace portion again. Thank you Crain I will highly recommend you to my family and friends. read more

My furnace stopped working on Thursday evening. I called a local company I have used in Royal Oak, MI and received a call back withing 20 minutes. The guy was nice but went on and on about how I would save so much money if I would purchase an ongoing service plan. I finally told him I would think about it and call back in the morning. I called another company in Royal Oak and didn't receive a call back. Twice. I took this as a sign to do some reading online before having someone out. That's how I found Crain Heating. I called first thing Friday morning and had 2 guys here in a couple hours. Jason the manager and Derek in training. They were very polite, professional and explained everything about my furnace. They really took their time checking to be sure that everything was working safely and price was very reasonable. I feel very comfortable recommending this company and will use them again. In addition to doing a great job and everything that I listed above, they were also great with my dogs! read more

I requested a quote on Crain's website and the next day I had a person at my house giving me a good price on a Lennox two stage AC and two stage furnace. Cody was great providing explanations and costs for the various units. It was very easy and painless. Six days later we had them installed and their installation also was first rate and professional. Crain was very quick to deliver, had a good price, gave up to date communications as to who was coming and when, and provided first rate installation. I highly recommend them. read more
