We love talking to him every time my bf and I want to get a sweet treat! What makes Rice Culture a lot better than other taiyaki places is their ability to make them fresh and hot and their incorporation of different and new flavors. I appreciate that they do try to update their menu based on customer feedback. Their ube custard taiyaki are ube sweet, carb-y ingots. They are best freshly made though it takes about 15-20 minutes to make (good things are worth the wait). Solid location to get a sweet treat after a Costco trip or lunch.

They have some great monthly flavors right now, and we tried a bit of everything: Swirl-ipino Split (Ube & Pandan Banana): The ube was perfectly sweet, and while the pandan banana pudding had a super strong banana taste, it was amazing mixed together. --Samples: The matcha is dark, rich, and beautifully bitter, while the strawchee is incredibly bright and refreshing. Taiyaki: We did the buy 4, get 2 free deal to try all six flavors. I love that there's an option for them to bake them fresh to order instead of pulling them off a warming rack! Red bean and custard were our favorites. The only downside is that the breading is a bit overwhelming, so the dough flavor kind of drowns out the fillings, even though they ooze out and get messy. I would not recommend the oreo one as it's just bread with 2 oreos. It's not worth it, in my opinion! As a fun bonus, they have board games on the tables--my nephew and I enjoyed playing Incohearent while eating our treats! :)
