Chef Arno has amazing baked goods. Everything I have tried so far has been delicious. Not too sweet - just right! He has a tent set up on weekends at Gilbert's Corner in Aldie. The taste is heavenly! The pastries are always fresh, flaky, and not overly sweet just the right balance. The owner is welcoming, and you can conveniently preorder your pie for pickup. The only downside is that there's no seating area, so you'll have to enjoy your treats at home. Or, if you're as impatient as I am, you'll end up eating them on the trunk of your car before you even get home. They're that good! read more

I have been buying French pastries from Arnos for years 7+ years. These are hands down the BEST pastries I've had. I order all my bday orders from Arnaud and every single time the order is PERFECT!!!! My review disappeared for some reason so this is a shorter version. Arno and his two or three pastry chefs are amazing. Everything is delightfully fantastic though some things do sell out. Usually I drop in for lunch at the BBQ tent, get some Salsa Dave salsa, and pick up 2-3 days worth of Arno's for desert. If you want to try your French they will speak and even help you. The young lady that is one of his pastry chefs is absolutely wonderful even when I mispronounced her name. Arno helped me with the pronunciation and that extra time learning more about French names was appreciated. He is so super nice and just a genuinely great person! I will say that some of the pastries they make appeal to the American palette and are a bit sweeter, such as the delicious lemon tarte! read more

I show up at 5:55 PM and walk to where the booth normally is. Hes not there so I walk around the whole market - the booth is nowhere to be found. I asked the market employee where they are. He said they left early because they sold out and they aren't even supposed to early. How could they leave if they had my order that I placed 2 weeks ago? I wasnt late, so they couldnt have sold my order because I didnt show up... right? Maybe i did something wrong here but im just disapppinted because this was my "cake" for my birthday tomorrow. I know... first world problems... I'm just disappointed and very hurt because I frequent this business at both the Aldie and Reston markets. The one time I placed an order, the business couldnt pull through I wish Arno nothing but success in his business and I hope to continue supporting him because mistakes do happen. Passed by the little stands on my way to Middleburg (Horse Country) and as I was heading out, I decided to stop and check it out and I don't regret it at all. The owner was so sweet, especially his wife. You could tell they bake with passion and love what they do cause you can taste it in the pastries they create. The lemon meringue was a delight. He told me the crust was going to be making me buy another one, I took a bite and then almost bought the whole batch. But I didn't want to be and take everything. Straight to the point, you have to go here, they set up every weekend I'm pretty sure or go to the bakery. btw, it was $4. I don't know why but I feel like the time and quality it's made with should put it at a higher price. I would pay so much for those little delights. Update: I ordered a full-size pear tart and lemon cake from Arno. You pick your order up at his house in Chantilly. The pear tart was $28 and the lemon cake was $33. Both are extremely satisfying, so a small slice of either is sufficient for most people. So the prices are actually not bad since each provides many servings. read more

Initial purpose was the pit stop. First glance is amazing. After i got my ribs, second glanced it, still amazing! So i called my wife and ended up getting a bag of macaron and 3 caramel puff pastry. That bag of macarons were just 15 bucks! All of the flavors were awesome. I liked the yellow, it was coconut but i like coconut. The caramelized puff pastry was amazing tho. Perfect amount of cream inside and a nice crackly crunch to the caramel! Also has rock sugar on it but it was nice and crumbly! Looked like salt at first. Pretty neat how they made it look that way!
