They make good sourdough bread. The Beef Patty was good as well. Other items looked tempting but watching what I eat.

I have not been to the Herndon location, but my wife and I met Grace last week at the Farmers Market in Old Town Alexandria. We had two raspberry scones that were absolutely delicious! We hope Grace and her table of delicious pastries is there again this week. read more

I was shopping in the area and a young lady from inside the store she asked me and my daughter if we are interested in free food becuse she was about to close. we chatted a bit took the food home and it was delicious and the young lady she made my day and she inspired me about how caring for food and people gives you the example of not to take things for granted.. love you young lady who made our day so special. thank you read more

I've been walking by Grace's Pastries at the Old Town farmer's market awhile now and decided to purchase a loaf of their Raspberry Bread (on principle I tend to avoid buying quick breads I can very easily make on my own, like banana or zucchini). I love raspberries, and it sounded very unique, so we decided to add it to our latest market haul. It was $5, which I thought was a very reasonable price for a loaf of locally made bread. My husband doesn't particularly care for it because he doesn't think there's enough raspberry swirled throughout (hence the 4 stars), but I'm very pleased with it - it makes really delicious toast and has just enough raspberry flavor that simply buttering it is really good. Adding raspberry jam kind of takes it over the edge, and I plan on making what I can only imagine will be superb stuffed French Toast with it tomorrow. read more

I love bread! All kinds! Any kind! Wait, no -- not bread with raisins. Raisins ruin anything they touch. Grace's Pastries comes to the Del Ray Farmers Market on Saturdays. I had no idea they had a storefront, too. Some of these reviews (filtered included) mention the terrible service at the Herndon store. I wonder what's up with that, because I always find the peeps working Grace's booth to be really helpful and on-point. Their bread is pretty good, too. It doesn't come pre-sliced, so you can cut yourself a big, giant hunk of it to gnaw on. Our favorite is the Seven Grain. It's chocolate-colored, dense, and sweet. It almost takes like cake, especially if you toast it up nice and smear butter all over that bad boy. So good! Some of the other breads we haven't liked as much -- like the wheat, which is too crumbly to be much good for anything other than...well, crumbling. And the focaccia, which *looks* like it'd kick some serious ass what with its browned onions and wilted spinach and tomato rounds, is disappointingly bland. Wah. But the Seven Grain, oh that cakey, yummy Seven Grain, and the nice employees kick this stand up a notch. Sometimes there's this adorable little boy with some enviable dreds hanging on his dad's (I assume he's dad) pantleg. I want to pinch his cheeks off. And one of these days I'm gonna drive out to Herndon and scope the service at Grace's storefront.... ...who am I kidding? I'm not gonna drive out to Herndon. read more

Not only do they sell these at the Del Ray Farmer's Market -- they have a stand at the farmer's market in Old Town as well. It's a bit tucked away -- if you're facing the city hall (with the fountain behind you), it'll be to your right when you go down the brick stairs leading to the street. Can't really miss it -- as of this morning, I counted about 12 or so people milling around the sample trays trying out the pieces of bread! Like MacRae O., am a total bread-aholic. Ever since my fiance and I started going to the Old Town farmer's market every Saturday (we buy all our perishables here instead of the grocery store), we make it a point to buy a loaf at the Grace's Pastries stand. The banana bread's very moist and heavy -- tasty with a good cup of coffee and some peaches. Will try the zucchini bread next -- granted, the stand sells the loaves at $5.75 each. But for two people, it covers our weekend breakfast and snack, so it works out. They also carry a few pies, breads (sliced and whole), and tarts. Their raspberry tarts look fantastic, but haven't tried that yet. Though I did see a couple getting all excited and bought three of them. So they must that good. If I can get a couple of my friends on board to eating it with me, I'll do that and come back with a report. Giving this place my thumbs up...after I finish devouring my huge slice of banana bread of course. :) read more

After hearing about their wonderful sweet breads I couldn't wait to try their products which are sold at the Sherwood Hall Library Farmers' Market (say that three times!) on Wednesday. I purchased zuchinni bread and a sour dough loaf. The service (by two people) was not very friendly. They don't seem to want to be there at all. If I were selling a 16oz loaf of zuchinni bread for $6.50 and sour dough for $5.00 I think I would be pretty darn happy, but I digress. This zuchinni bread is dry, slightly stale and severly lacks flavor. The sour dough is ok. For me I think I will try another vendor next time, actually I know I will. read more

Bought some baked goods from this vendor at the Fairfax City Farmer's market this summer. 1) Overpriced 2) Cheap - the woman selling actually told people that "the owner prefered cash and got upset with" her for accepting credit cards 3) Cheap - again - have to ask the vendor for separate bags to keep her from CRAMMING pastries into ONE singular paper bag and she uses/reuses over and over a SINGLE paper towel instead of pastry paper with no food handling gloves! 4) Be CAREFUL = One OVERPRICED $5 walnut pastry had a HARD SHELL IN IT that BROKE my partial dental plate which will cost me over $8,000 dental work to fix. Charges too much for her pastries and is too cheap to use an extra paper bag, or GOOD ingredients. I will NeVER purchase again from this cheap vendor. read more

Grace is a sweet woman that makes tasty treats. We stopped by her newer store in Herndon (she moved across the shopping center). The selection wasn't the largest, but I imagine that is also due to the move. She had AMAZING marble cheesecake, i would highly recommend it. I've read she has amazing breads but none were available when we went, so can't say. I would give it a 4 star if there were more choices! read more

Found Grace's at the Reston Farmers's Market. I got the cinnamon coffee cake and a blueberry scone. The coffee cake is fabulous. I definitely recommend it. The scone was perfect more my taste; a bit on the dryer side and not overly cake-y. My sister bought a loaf of cherry, walnut, applesauce bread and it was also really good. Happy to know there is a storefront so I can get that coffee cake when farmer's market season has ended. read more

First of all, every single thing I've tried is delicious. And believe me, I've tried every single thing. This week I tried something new. Feta and spinach bread. Oh! We toasted a few slices and ate it with fried eggs and bacon. It was divine! The zucchini and pumpkin loaves are so yummy you'll want to squirrel them away so you don't have to share. Grace's Pastries comes to the weekly farmer's market near where I work and I'm always excited because I love their empanadas! When I first started buying them, they had chicken in it and they were so yummy. Then a few weeks later they stopped brining chicken and had rice empanadas...at first I was like 'eh...rice..in a pastry bread..how good can that be?' Apparently pretty darn good! :) THEN, one week they brought salmon empanadas and they were INCREDIBLE! I went back and bought more, but since that day they haven't brought them back :( It's ok though, I still have the rice and as of today, chicken empanadas. Unfortunately, next week will be the last week they come to this farmer's market until next year :( read more

I just came from the USDA Farmers Market and decided to try out Grace's Pastries since there aren't very many options for us vegetarians. I ordered the spinach pie, chickpea empanada, chocolate chip cookie and a brownie. I LOVEEEEEE the spinach pie AMAZING! The chickpea was okay, the chocolate chip cookie was delicious and I have yet to sample the brownie. Overall, I would most definitely recommend Grace's. read more

We have always been a fan of Grace's pastries until recently. We went in on a Saturday afternoon and bought two loaves of bread- Apple Walnut & Pumpkin. Once we returned home and opened the loaves, we found MOLD on both loaves! Very disappointed & will not be shopping there again. As another person posted, the store was very bare. I used to stop by Grace's Pastry stand at the Mount Vernon Farmer's Market after work pretty often. I couldn't resist the delicious cinnamon twists for me to eat and focaccia and beef patties for my husband. I had to stop going to the stand because of a bad purchase transaction. After work, on the morning of 4th of July of this year, I decided to stop by and pick up some cinnamon twists and a beef patty. One of the male employees, Ms. Grace was not present at the time, rang up my purchases using the Square attachment and app on a tablet device as I was paying with my check card. Instead of charging me $13.50 for a few pastries I was charged 135.06!! I noticed the large amount as I was signing and I told the guy that was the amount was incorrect and asked him to cancel it. Why in the world was a 6 even added to my purchase cost?! He said he canceled it and told me to contact my bank. He also told me not to worry about payment that day, and that I can pay next time as the frequent the stand pretty often. I don't feel comfortable owing money to someone, so I paid the $13.50 in cash. I wanted to pay with my card instead because I needed to keep the small amount of cash I had. I also did not receive a receipt for the purchase either. As soon as I got in the car I saw Ms. Grace walking toward the Market and I should have asked her to fix it then and there instead. Anyway, I had to wait until the next day, July 5th, to call my bank because it was a holiday on the 4th and the bank was closed. When I called my bank I had to file a claim for the issue to be investigated. My bank called me a couple times to get a statement and update me on the investigation. At this time, my bank reversed the charge so I thought everything was cleared by the claims department. Weeks later, my bank contacts me basically stating that they had to remove the reversal after working with Square because I didn't have a receipt as proof of purchase even though they can see the charge of $135.06. It's funny how I made a purchase later, in the midst of the claim with my bank, and received a receipt for my purchase via Square. I don't recall receiving a receipt via Square for any purchases in the past. Legally, with any type of purchase, a receipt is required. I have been frequently contacting Ms. Grace SINCE JULY to fix this issue. Up to now, this month of December, I have not received a refund or at least a receipt to submit to my bank so that I can get my money back. This issue has not been resolved and the year is almost over. Ms. Grace has some tasty pastries, but I will not return to make any purchases due to bad business. I lost a lot of money and they have done nothing about it!! Beware! read more

Bought foccacia bread on 7/7 for $7. Had to throw it away because it was stale and got moldy right away. Never buy from this place. I got this at Dale City Farmers Market.......never again. read more

The ginger cake is the absolute BEST! I've tried some of their other cakes which were also good, but nothing compares to the ginger cake. I have not been to the store, but I do go to the Thursday farmer's market in Rosslyn. The season has ended, but can't wait to see them again in May! The entire office loves their ginger cake. read more

Grace is at the Dale City Farmers Market every week. Be sure to try a sample before you buy because their bread is not consistent. At times it can be dry but often it is wonderful. My favorite when it is moist is the carrot cake. read more
