I've been wanting to see Cape Flattery and the Tatoosh Island Lighthouse for several years…read more  This summer, that's what my family and I finally did. We booked 3 cottages at Chito Beach Resort in Sekiu, Washington. My brother and his wife stayed in The Birdhouse (whose deck officially became our favorite hangout spot) We spent many memorable hours there, enjoying the ever changing views of the sea, wildlife, and spectacular sunsets. My sister stayed in The Wolf Den. I stayed in the cottage adjacent to hers, The Lighthouse.  I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Lighthouse Cottage. The bed was soooo comfy. Water pressure was great. So much attention was paid to every charming little detail. Nothing was overlooked.  And that view!  On Saturday night the owners, Tamara and Matt had a little get together around the bonfire with all of the guests at Chito Beach. (There are a total of 6 cottages) They were wonderful and gracious hosts who served us beverages and DELICIOUS appetizers. They made us feel very welcome there.  After I got back home, I sorted through the MANY photos that I'd taken, and decided which ones to post on Facebook.  As gorgeous as some of them are, I think some of the pictures of the sunsets at Chito Beach are even more stunning than my photos of the Cape.  Especially on our last night there. Truly magical and almost otherworldly Our time there was an experience that our family will treasure forever.

So we went for a hike and to the nearest town. We returned late in the afternoon. They told us they were worried and had phoned us several times. We were there in the morning, we had some other plans, and already paid for the room. Why wouldn't we return if everything nearby was booked? There is no phone coverage. At least for us:( Their front desk is in the grocery store. So we followed the lady to the place where the rooms are. The room are tiny but cute. Like a little studio. They have tv and kitchen. Bring your shampoo and stuff because you won't find amenities. I don't know if these are cottages but they are rooms in something like a container. Although, there was a huge spider inside the bed and that the bathroom white luttke carpet was dirty, I think this was the best we could find in a very busy holiday :)

The place is creepy in the off-season. When my boyfriend and I arrived late on a January night, we realized we'd be the only ones staying in this secluded part of Sekiu. We felt pretty vulnerable, but obviously survived. 2. Room was freezing and took forever to warm up. I had called ahead and said we'd be staying there, but the owners didn't warm up a room for us. Instead we turned on the heating ourselves and spent the first four hours of the night there dressed in all the socks, sweater and jackets we had while cuddled on the bed. And the bedding is hardly anything on its own - very thin blanket and comforter. I eventually took a hot shower and then put all the warm stuff on again. By 2 a.m., we could finally take some of the clothing off because the room was finally warm enough. 3. THE CAT - the gaddamn cat. There's a stray cat that literally sat outside our door and meowed until we finally turned off all the lights and were completely quiet. So that was 3-4 hours of a cat meowing outside of our door. 4. Room itself is generally old/crappy as you can see in one of my photos. It definitely needs some renovation! So why did we stay here at all? A lot of places are closed in the offseason, but this one wasn't. It was also the closest open place to our hiking area near Ozette Lake. Everything else is about a half-hour more away. If I could do it again, I would have stayed in Neah Bay or Forks and just deal with the extra driving time.

I appreciated- and read - the book about their history and stories placed in our cabin. We stayed in a two bedroom oceanfront cabin, and though nestled close to other cabins on either side, they are staggered in such a way as to afford us privacy and unobstructed views from the porch and expansive front windows. Purchase a beach fire permit for $10 and a firewood bundle will be delivered as you unpack your bags. Well-stocked kitchen, which is wonderful as once you make the long drive out to La Push, you should plan to hunker down for meals and such. It's a long drive to and from Forks. I would return!

They said it was the same style and it was not. The bathtub was smaller, did not have view, and the water took 30 minutes to fill the tub. The water barely came out of the faucet and by the time it was full enough to use the jets the water was lukewarm. The cabin was freezing. With the fireplace running I finally got the living room to 60, but it can't run all night so the rooms were freezing. Stay somewhere else and drive to the beach because the venue is not worth it. I feel ripped off and the exact opposite of relaxed.

The unit was filthy--smelled like syrup, full of dust, cobwebs, insects, and a broken, stained sofa bed with no sheets. My girlfriend and children's asthma flared up immediately. I politely asked for a different room but was told none were available. When I requested a refund for the second night, I was met with hostility and falsely accused of breaking the sofa, which was already broken on arrival. The manager dismissed our concerns, saying I "chose to come to a rural area," as if that justified unsanitary conditions. I'm in the military and have stayed in many rural places--none this poorly maintained. Avoid this place if you care about your health, comfort, or being treated with respect. Also, if it's under new management, they definitely don't know how to talk to people and show care towards their customers.
