We wanted to go out to the peninsula for an affordable, nature-oriented vacation, but we're not "camping people," so this cabin was an awesome find. For $90 a night (2010), you get a one bedroom cabin with a queen and twin bed in the bedroom, a hide-a-bed in the living space, a nice sized kitchen, bathroom, and a little nook with a bookcase (including the full Twilight series for you Twi-hards out there). Everything was working well, finished nicely, basically nicer than my apartment in Seattle. :) There was also a fire pit and a grill outside. The only slight downside was that it is right next to a road to Rialto Beach, so there was some traffic, but it is not one of the more populated places, so it wasn't too bad. (and the silver lining is you are right by the road to Rialto Beach! just a couple of miles away.) It was still much, much quieter There are no other cabins on this property, just the home of the owners, who were super nice and really inobtrusive. They even had a super sweet cat who would stop for some cuddles. Just don't pick him up. All in all, we needed a week without cell phones, internet, and chatter, but being city kitties we still needed running water, comfortable places to sleep, a fridge and a stove, etc. so this was perfect. They did have satellite TV, so we sneaked a few shows in (I mean, enough is enough when the season premiere of Project Runway is on!). This would be a great place for a small family, as well.

Cabin #2 is a little taste of heaven. It is the perfect getaway spot for an active relaxing, and/or romantic weekend in the woods. It's quite secluded and private, and the hosts gave us total privacy for the whole 4 days we stayed there, only coming to the fence when we did first. The closest hike is literally ONE mile away, in the National Park just down the road. Rialto Beach is a little farther down the road, and it's a serious must see. It's a total 'bucket list' type hike, but be sure you are going outside of high tide hours (google it!). Hike to 'Hole in the Wall' and check out the ocean life. Oh yeah, the cabin. We stayed in Cabin 2. It's newer and more secluded than #1, which is very near the road and more visible. #2 is quite new (as of 4/14), and it shows. It looks like one of the little IKEA model apartments, "Living in 350 square feet!" There is a nice little kitchen area with a dorm-style micro/fridge, full stove and oven, plenty of dishes and cookware, but no spices or other similar staples. The sitting area has a comfy futon couch and a bean bag. There is a cute, small dining room table under a mounted flatscreen tv with satellite tv. The bed is comfortable and the bedding was clean. The bathroom was large and clean, with a classy walk-in shower. Everything is very sunny and airy, due to the plentiful windows and tall, tall ceilings. There's a great covered patio with nice chairs, and a grill (bring your own coals, starter fluid, etc.). We used the bbq one evening and two enormous and adorable rabbits appeared and hung out with us on the porch for a while, before moving on to eat all the beautiful landscaping features (I bet they hate those rabbits, but we loved 'em!). Parking is in the rocky driveway in front of the cabin, so it feels pretty accessible for those with some moderate mobility challenges. Our only wishes for the place: a broom, so we could sweep the sand/dirt/bugs out, and a speaker system that we could plug our phones/iPods into. The owners' dogs run around the fence that is near Cabin 2 and sometimes bark, but that didn't bug us at all since it didn't happen early or late. If you hate dogs this could be a dealbreaker, I suppose. In addition to nearby Rialto Beach, we took a road trip to the Makah Indian Reservation at Neah Bay. That takes about an hour, and it's a beautiful drive. Eat at Pat's Place, and definitely walk through the Makah Museum (both loved by Yelpers). The cabin makes for a great home base for all kinds of adventure, and it's also a great place to hang out at all day and night. We'll definitely be back.

The perfect place to stay after a 170 mile bike ride. For some reason I have to make this longer so I'll just put in some filler here.

We were then given the space next to the one we had booked and paid for. We had to share the electrical, water, and sewer connections with the motor home that was in our original site. This was very inconvenient since we had to "schedule" our sewer dumps, had low water pressure, had our electricity turned off while we were away site seeing (it could have been that the breaker blow with double power plugged in). We also compared notes with the couple who occupied our original site and were told by them that their site was given to someone else so they were given our site. This did not set well with us because it meant that the manager of the park had lied to us about why our site was not available to us. To make matters worse we had to stretch our two electrical cords to reach the plugin since it was so far away from our trailer. This resulted in our cord coming apart which required me to spend $100 to replace it. Their lying to us and making no effort to reimburse us partially for paying for a full hook up site that we did not get to occupy are the reasons that I will never book with this campground again. Honesty and an effort to make things right would have gone a long ways to giving them a higher rating.

Glamping is just glamorous camping. To that person who rated this place as a 1? I am not sure what they saw, but this place (and certainly the staff) should get a full 5+ stars!! The tent -- we had an awesome tent with all the cooking supplies/utensils needed for our dinner. The tent itself was spacious and the well placed outhouses were nicer than any rest areas I have ever been to. The showers were hot and smelled of cedar -- exactly what was needed after our 4 days in the back country. Jerry and Ronnie were the best! We hung out at Ronnie's shack, and enjoyed the conversation and libations. After hearing off all the work Ronnie put in crafting the trails, we took a stroll and added a few more steps to put already weary legs. And it was worth it, earning the name of this resort. The craftsmanship and attention to detail makes this place unique. I would absolutely come back, and would be happy to bring the kids!

SCAM ALERT!!! RUN…read moreAWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! Upon our arrival at 402 Kallman Road the day prior to check-in, there was debris in the yard. (Because we had reached out multiple times via phone and email to confirm our reservations and had not received a reply, we arrived a day early.) Still, the property is vastly different from the property listed on HomeAway.com, listing #7834193, which we paid $1,600.00 to rent from July 16th through July 23, 2019. While the owners have removed the listing, they haven't removed the Facebook listing that shows the resort named at the same (https://www.facebook.com/MichaelWolf998765/). The advertised "resort" depicted sunsets on the water, natural alcoves in a romantic setting, and a retreat-like atmosphere and included many 5-star "reviews" that sold us on the rental. We arrived to what appeared to be multiple unkempt, personal trailer homes for full-time residents, not a popular tourist destination created for vacation purposes. The buildings were broken down with peeling paint and were surrounded by discarded junk. The yard of this dilapidated property was strewn with broken furniture, a wet mattress, and garbage. We were overcome with anxiety; in person, the location felt dangerous and unsafe, like a place drug addicts and criminals might hang out. This was absolutely NOT what we had paid for and we were horrified, especially because our friends would be arriving and would not have a place to stay during high season on the Olympic Peninsula. Concerned for our safety, we left the premises immediately and scrambled to piece together other arrangements. After this initial experience, we communicated with the owner, Mike, who appeared to be high on drugs because his eyes were glazed and he rambled on at a fast pace about delusional nonsense. For example, he claimed he owned "the entire riverbed", that the rocks in the river are geodes that contain jade and sapphires. He also claimed that the garden shed was a rentable cottage. We have also been in touch online. At no time has he offered to refund any of the $1,600 he received on 5/17/2019, nor has he done so. Instead, he claimed he'd only rented us the backyard of this property and referred to his egregious, fraudulent misrepresentation as a cancellation on our part. After we made a complaint to the Attorney General Mike sent my friends text messages threatening to have us arrested for slander as well as offering to refund some of our money " I will follow my attorneys advice on a refund" if we would take our reviews of our experience down from google reviews. Upon closer investigation, we learned that the sellers have multiple identities. Michael Bradham of Northern Approaches LLC is actually Michael Wolf, as noted from his Facebook page, where he lists both his real name AND being the owner of Northern Approaches, the company who scammed us. The same is true for Sharice Paris, who is on the Northern Approaches emails - her real name is also Wolf. More importantly, we learned that the 5-star reviews that accompanied the beautiful, fake photos, and which had been the deciding factor in our decision to rent the property, were fraudulent as well! Michael and Sharice both wrote separate, exemplary reviews as if they were guests at the resort rather than the owners. Additionally, Dustin Crear, who according to his Facebook page is their employee, also provided a fraudulent, 5-star review. In fact, every review on the property came from the Port Angeles area where they live and Sarah Sullivan, another reviewer, bears an uncanny resemblance to Sharice. Clearly, we are victims of a scam. Not only were we robbed of money, but also of precious time with our friends.

When we arrived, the toilet paper AND paper towels were nearly out. We searched in obvious places under the sink and cabinet drawers to find more toilet paper, to find it later in a small hideaway above the washer and dryer. Games and puzzles are located in the kitchen drawers to the left of the sink. Emergency items such as flashlights, candles are located in that same area in the kitchen. If an extra blanket is needed, I wouldn't know where to find one. Otherwise, I great place to come.
