Curious Toast Cafe is an absolute gem! The food was phenomenal, we had the green chile biscuits & gravy, Hawaiian French toast, and Benji toast, and EVERYTHING was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The service was just as amazing! Everyone was so sweet, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel at home. And the atmosphere?! So much personality, warmth, colorful art, and fun little hidden rooms to discover and sit in. It's one of those places that feels special the second you walk in. Amazing food, incredible service, and such a fun, unique vibe for breakfast. We loved everything about it and can't wait to come back
On my way from a doctor appointment I realized I had a Yelp event - and proceeded to go to the wrong location!! What a happy accident!!! We stopped by this amazing little location (jokes here) in a gorgeous historical home!! It is amazing to walk in and see the eclectic decor and art!! Even though I was at the wrong location the ow er was very kind and told me where to go. She was telling me about the location and how there are plenty of spaces to sit, enjoy a drink or food and have a hang! The service was quick and super friendly group! I had the BLT - amazing!! Did not expect the nice big thick pieces of sourdough but the best surprise was the green chile!! I may never have a BLT any other way! Absolute gem of a spot! Can't wait to head back!!
Definitely recommend a stop at Curious Walk up ordering, self service coffee and water But warm dining areas throughout the building Definitely a local favorite Parking is decent East side of building
My first visit to this establishment was May 18, 2026. My sister and her husband invited me to join them for breakfast and conversation. It's a truly cozy atmosphere. An old house that's been converted into Restaurant space. Very comfortable seating areas, fun decorations. A nice menu with many good choices. I ended up going with biscuits and gravy. The gravy had of course, green chili, since we're here in New Mexico! A good rendition of this workhorse breakfast meal. My sis ordered waffles with fruit and it looked delicious. It came with a cinnamon butter. There is plenty of good parking prices are excellent.
This building and atmosphere is one of the coolest restaurants in ABQ, I like how funky the atmosphere is and all the different vibes in one space. The service was really good as well considering they were super busy. Both savory and sweet dish were very good, simple yet fun concepts.
Curious toast looked so good so I decided to stop in. What a cute place with quirky decor! I decided on the salmon sunrise on sourdough and it was so good. You get a choice of a side and I decided on the fruit and it was delicious! I left feeling satisfied. The service was great! Wish I could've tried more of their toasts!
You want a quirky ambiance? This place has it in SPADES. Curious toast has some delicious sour dough toast options (get the Disco Elvis!), but they also have excellent coffee selections and some rather tasty looking waffles. The decor is adorable and eclectic, and there is plenty of seating tucked away in small alcoves to hang with friends and other folks. + the Raspberry Oatmilk Matcha was incredible! Quick and kind service too! This is a fun place to take your out of state friends who are down for a casual and fun brunch.
Curious toast is a very cute and solid spot in downtown ABQ. The restaurant is located in a historic house and they rent the rooms to local artists to display/sell their art. I would recommend checking out the rooms then ordering food and drinks on the first floor. They have both coffee/tea and cocktails. My avocado toast this trip was okay- I think that the avocados had seen better days. My sister seemed to really enjoy the salmon toast. My latte was overly sweet (maybe a fluke- I hadn't experienced this previous visits). At this restaurant you order inside and take a number then they will bring you your food/drinks. They have outdoor seating and seating in the house. They offer parking behind the house and there is also street parking in the area. The Benji toast was $15 and the salmon toast was $17. Chai latte -$6 and lavender latte-$6.50. And if you use alternative milk (I like oat milk ) they charge an extra $0.80. Overall I have enjoyed my experiences at this establishment- I will be back and I recommend that you check it out.
I ordered The Benji Toast "Avacado Toast" with fresh fruit for 16 bucks. Single piece of Toast and not a whole lot of Avocado. The building is historic and has some charm. The staff are friendly. Overall the Avocado Toast was good, but had ZERO seasoning and there was no Salt or Pepper on the table. Curious Toast is a Hipsters paradise overall I'd say they are good not great and today the Pinnaple was k King.
Join us as we review Curious Toast Cafe on Central and 8th. We were pleasantly surprised. Great food, efficient yet non-obtrusive service, and a delightful setting in an old building that I remember was the office of one of our state's power brokers. This is really a great place and worth your trip to downtown. Plenty of street and alley parking. Highly recommended. Just click on the following YouTube video link to see what we ate and listen to Mike give directions that may (or may not) get you here. https://youtu.be/_JySFA8xCJs?si=Dkf2juDeVp2y8BpaJoin u
This place is really fun and unique. They have all different fancy toasts of savory and sweet varieties, ones with calabacitas, red chile, pineapple sauce, and other tasty creations. They do a really good job of flavor combinations. They can also do gluten free toast which is also good. I enjoy the presentation on wooden boards. It is also a coffee shop with good drinks and flavor options. The setting of the place itself is really unique, quaint, fun, and artsy. It's in a multi-story old house or boarding house. There are a wide variety of tables and chairs in various rooms. It's fun to go exploring all the different rooms and levels. You can eat anywhere you'd like, including on an outdoor balcony overlooking downtown, or at a big outdoor patio. There is local art on the walls of all the rooms.
Good things: Vodka Seltzers, and lattes were super good. Food was good, possibly something you can make at home but if you want to buy it, it came out to $80 for three people getting this plate for us (but presentation was nice.) The place itself had nice art and was a good aesthetic and very big. Bad things: service meaning, they don't attend to you, you have to look for your own seating, took "45 minutes" to get the food although it took a hour and a half after being in a very long line to order. Also having to get back in that line if you need anything else or want to order more. Even when you are missing something on plate it took another few minutes to get I ordered avocado on the side and they forgot twice to get me that side, and when did it was a small portion that I had paid for and my food got cold. Silver ware was dirty, had to ask for plastic silverware. Also they ran out of some stuff by the time we were able to order. Me and my group of 6 people, were not really satisfied; and we aren't from Albuquerque so if you're a tourist I wouldn't recommend here unless you have a lot of time! & want actual good service.
Come for the great food and stay for the rich ambiance at this incredible downtown breakfast and brunch destination.

A surprise discovery! I was staying at the ARRIVE Albuquerque hotel across the street. I wanted a late breakfast. Curious Toast is a gem. Unique, funky, a wonderful atmosphere. I had the Burque Melt on pueblo bread (all bread purchased from local bakeries). I finished off with a biscochito latte. The staff is friendly and provides great service. The owner was there and we had a good conversation. I love local! read more

Visited for breakfast this morning. This was our first visit and I had been reading really good things about the food on the Facebook Albuquerque Foodies Group and on Yelp. It did not disappoint. Located in downtown Albuquerque. There is a large parking lot on the east side of the house. The lot is accessible off of 6th street and the alley behind the house. Upon entering you begin to notice the quirky decorations and different seating areas in multiple rooms. The menu has a lot different options. We chose to share two things- the Disco Elvis and the Burque Melt. Both options had several choices of bread for the toast. The Burque melt has two over easy eggs, caramelized onions, shredded cheddar, bacon, a side of chopped green Chile and choice of potato or fruit. We chose herbed sourdough for the bread. The portions are good. There were four pieces of bacon that were cooked how I like it----not too crisp but well enough done that you don't feel it is too floppy. The eggs were a bit overcooked for over easy but they were fine. There was a lot of cheese on the toast and the side of green Chile was medium heat and also had other spices so it wasn't just the green Chile taste. It really added to the flavor. The fruit include large, plump blueberries, grapes, pineapple, and strawberries. The fruit was fresh and delicious. The second dish- the Disco Elvis like dessert. Whole wheat sourdough with almond butter, caramelized banana and strawberries, crunchy almond granola with edible Disco glitter and drizzled with honey. It was so good. The granola I am assuming is house made and included lots of pepitas, big pieces of pecans, dates, and apricots. The bananas and strawberries were fresh and the banana not super soft. This toast was really good. The coffee is served in unmatched mugs, either regular or large. We got larges because I like several cups of coffee in the morning. The coffee was delicious, strong and hot. I am picky about coffee and often how good the coffee is drives my choice for breakfast. The coffee met my standards. You order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. My only complaint is I shouldn't have waited so long to visit. Such a good experience. Will be back. read more

Found this place by accident. We were planning to go across the street to eat at the hotel but no one was there to help us. Came across the street to this little gem. Very unique. Service was excellent. We ordered the Benji and Steak Caprese. Very good. Nice atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor dining. Highly recommend it. read more

Wow... what a find! Curious Toast Cafe is a counter-serve breakfast restaurant and coffee shop located in downtown Albuquerque at 718 Central Ave SW. It opened mid-July 2021. The ambiance is eccentric and engaging. The seating ranges from couches to lounge chairs to traditional dining chairs at tables. There are nooks patrons can eat in spread over three floors (check them all out!), or they can eat in the main dining room. On the second level there's a witch's shop called Glitter Alchemy with witch-related items for sale. On every floor the walls and corners are decorated with art, of which some pieces are for sale. I ordered the Roadrunner BLT for $15, which came with a side of fruit or breakfast potatoes. I chose the latter. The BLT consisted of green chile aioli, bacon, romaine lettuce, sliced cherry tomatoes, and roasted green chile strips. I chose sourdough for my bread option out of the six options (the others are whole wheat sourdough, seeduction, gluten-free multigrain, pueblo, and tesuque). The toast was delicious. It was nice to have the chile aioli and breaded baked chile as an addition to the traditional BLT ingredients because it added to an otherwise tame, traditional dish for a more interesting flavor profile. I took some of the meal to go and it wasn't soggy at all when I finished it later in the day since the lettuce protected the bread from the moisture in the tomatoes. The dish didn't feel too heavy even with the bacon, and I'm already wanting to try another entree selection. The side of potatoes was a nice addition; I'm glad the toasts come with a side to round it out as a meal. The ingredients seemed fresh and high quality. The experience, meal, and ambiance equaled a 5/5 with no reservations in my book. I'm already wanting to return to show my other half this place. read more

I'm giving this review four stars as I think there is potential here. First of all, nice staff and the old house is super cool. It has a bunch of different rooms, levels and outside spaces and you're able to choose where you want to sit. However, I think because of that there is a sense of chaos. You do give your name at the front when you order but your name does not go with your food order to the kitchen so then the waiters and waitresses have to kind of wander around and see first of all where are you sitting, and then also, what did you order. I had a little lavender latte with soy milk, which was very good and I got that pretty quickly because I was right next to the coffee prep area. After 20 minutes and multiple other people that came in after me that got their food,I asked about mine. This is when I found out that your name does not go back with your food order to the kitchen. Because they asked, what did you order? and then I had to say what I ordered and then they kind of wandered around and it ended up that my order was not made and they had to make it for me. Also, the coffee area was a bit confused as well as while I was still waiting for my food, I was offered a second little lavender latte, even though I already had one. I went ahead and asked if I could drink that one since my food was not arriving and I was given that one for free. When I did get my food, it looked beautiful and the concept was good, but it was just sliced turkey, like turkey lunchmeat and the overall flavor was not my favorite because it was sweet with a lemon marmalade but then also tangy with the citrus dressing on the arugula and tomatoes and overall it was just OK. I had gotten the red chili asiago bread for the toast and the bread was very dry, more so dry than, toasted and was not great. Once again, I feel like this place has potential, but I think that they need a little bit more cohesion in ordering and keeping orders straight and making sure that things are expedited correctly and back to the kitchen in the order in which they were ordered. And maybe you take a number at the front instead of just giving a name? I'm not really sure what the answer is but I will certainly come back and try something else because I do not really like the morning sunshine toast. read more
We loved this place! The decor is fantastic, you have to spend time walking around just taking it in before or after eating. I recommend exploring for your favorite room to eat in. The food is also fantastic, with both sweet and savory options. We had the Disco Elvis and the Burque toast. This is a very unique spot with lots of charm and character. read more

This is the best place to come to if you love being charged $1 for a glass of ice or $5 for a can of soda. The fun doesn't stop there but if you love unseasoned food this is your place potatoes undercooked and bland! Unfortunately the eggs were delicious. I had a blast sitting a non air conditioned restaurant. I hope the silly Billy owner/s and I hope they continue the great work. :) read more

My meal was good but not incredible for $17 charge. The churro waffle my wife ordered tasted nothing like a churro. We were confused if they gave us the wrong meal while eating it. I do believe the food was overpriced given the quality. read more

I'm so glad we have this place in Albuquerque because it's delicious! The staff are extremely friendly and I love the ambience of the place. It has a unique feel to it but it's great. I got an avocado toast which was so good! It was on a red Chile Asiago toast, didn't think it would be good but wow it was a surprise, absolutely yummy! Highly recommend this place. read more

I cannot be more grateful that we found this place when we did-- in the middle of a 38-hour road trip during an extremely hot week of July, with two dogs and an urgent need for wifi to take some work calls. For days we had been sweating it out and squinting at our screens on dog-friendly patios, so stepping into this haven, with its adorable toast and unique furnishings and floors full of dog friendly rooms, felt like the happiest moment of my life. The staff was SO sweet and attentive, giving us ice water for the pups and walking down to check on us once in a while. I'm so sad we don't live in the same city or I'd come here all the time. read more
Loved this place! A super funky and eclectic, historic old house. There are 4 levels, with some housing work spaces and small businesses. All women owned. And our food was very good! We had the Burque Melt on Seeduction bread and the Roadrunner BLT on Sourdough. The Melt came with bacon, green chile, caramelized onions, melted cheddar and a side of fresh fruit. The BLT had bacon, romaine, cherry tomatoes, a breaded green chile on top and a side of potatoes. We also had a drip coffee and a spicy mocha. So glad we made our way down and we will for sure be back!! read more

Probably the coolest cafe I've ever been to. The staff was super friendly and let us explore the house. When I asked if they knew who had signed the football upstairs, they went into full Sherlock Holmes mode and used context clues and the internet to figure out who it was! I can't remember who it was now, but at one point I did! The downstairs room with the ghost art was my favorite spot. read more
Elvis disco toast. What a fabulous name. Edible glitter and caramelized piña (typically strawb/banana but were out) and almond butter, a bit dry but tasty flavor. The Curious Toast has 3 stories of seating. The renovated vintage house had quite the array of decorations. Impressed with the antique stuffs, only complaint is the slight wait for food read more
Yum!!! So, I finally popped in to this place and was tastefully and visually delighted. It's a beautiful historic home/building that has this lovely and cozy craft toast cafe inside. Very welcoming! The staff was BeA and inspiring, a total vibe! I had the Benjie toast and substituted the soft boiled egg for ham. This was super delicious and just the right size! It came out to $15. Very inviting spaces and areas to sit and visit or do a little work as you eat. I recommend! #thankfulthursdays2021 read more
I visited this place because I had a friend who was showing his artwork. The place inside is very nice. Looks like an old house the turned into a cafe/art gallery, which is awesome! After the art showing I decided to try some of the toast as a cuisine. It was delicious! Best egg in a basket I have had! I could taste all the flavors and none were overpowering the other. Price was a little high for toast...but, worth it. Staff was very friendly and it was very read more

I never thought I'd rave about a piece of toast. I mean c'mon, it's just toast, right? I couldn't be more wrong. You'll never look at a sad piece of buttered toast again once you experience Curious Toast. Nestled in a historic building in downtown Albuquerque, the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. You're surrounded by an eclectic mix of furniture and art in this bright airy space. The employees were cheerful and very helpful in deciding between the options. I ordered the Benjii toast. The phenomenal bread was topped with fresh homemade guac, soft-boiled egg, sprinkled with pomegranate seeds, and topped off with smoked sea salt. This knife-and-fork worthy meal held me over until lunch and I enjoyed every single bite. If I had one suggestion it would be to have the eggs warmed a bit, but that's admittedly a personal preference. The coffee was bold enough to stand up to the toast. I'll be coming here next time, and every time I'm lucky enough to be in Albuquerque. read more

This place is super cute and is located downtown in a historic brick building. You order your food at the counter & they bring your toast to you. The counter staff was clean & friendly. Their menu has several options but is not overwhelming. The food was fresh, flavorful & local. The presentation was quite nice. They have coffee. We will visit again. I give 4 instead of 5 stars because I felt it was a wee bit pricey for what it was. Nonetheless, it was good food, good atmosphere and a great concept. Ive added a picture but the picture doesn't do it justice. My husband had the avocado toast (whole wheat toast, avocado, pomegranate, sea salt, ground pepper, & soft boiled egg). - I had the Vandame toast (whole wheat toast, wild mushrooms, tomato, arugula). The Vandame comes on a Baguette & w/lemon aioli but I asked for whole wheat toast & w/o the lemon aioli. read more

The food was AMAZING. The service was perfect and kind and gentle. I love all the different rooms. We sat on the very very top floor because we brought 4 kids. Update: went back with another friend this May after walking around the Downtown Grower's Market across the street. I wanted to stop by for a while to this cute little spot. I was attracted by the quirky and cosy atmosphere. While entering the space is really neat in an historical house. There is multiple rooms to choose from there was even a fire going in the fireplace this morning. You definitely feel comfortable and it would be a great place to come and chill with a good book. For the toast being vegan there was not a readily available option but they were ok to remove the eggs and the aioli from the benji to make it vegan. It was a really tasty avocado toast though it was a little small for $12. They have oat or almond milk for milk alternatives, so I was able to try an oat mustache mocha it was really yummy the amount of spice was just right. On the other hand my husbands cortado was more a cappuccino as far as milk to espresso ratio. All in all it was really cute spot. Would love to see them develop some vegan options. read more
