It's such a good-looking place, inside and out. Super cool vibe, but it was crazy loud. We were celebrating a birthday and they were lovely to acknowledge with welcome bubbles. Drinks were good. The menu was exciting and creative and we were eager to try a number of dishes. We opted for a six item charcuterie board that was 3 meats and all 3 cheeses offered. The winner was the 24 month jamon tejano (of course, at a $12 upcharge), but the cheese was basic, save for the buttermilk blue. The Board was attractive. Entrées were Empanadas (best plate of the night), Chicken Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage (very good) and the Lobster Gnocchi (so salty that it was inedible). That was my biggest issue of the evening, as we mentioned it to the server and he looked confused, but didn't offer to replace it, not to offer a discount, let alone take it off the check. Tacky. Finally, we got dessert, a squash bread pudding, that had a sauce they'd neglected to disolve the sugar in. It would have been good if made properly, but we had four bites and couldn't eat that. I had heard that @curedatpearl has a good happy hour but had never been. We decided to check it out last night for dinner. We arrived just in the nick of time and Rebecca took our happy hour orders. Hubby had the Moscow Mule and I had Slow Poke, which has orange and pineapple. We tried Boudin Empanadas, Double Blue Ribbon Burger with fries, Fried Quail Legs, and Chili Crisp Romaine from the happy hour menu. The food was 10/10. Everything on the charcuterie was delicious including the sauces. The steak was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. The medium was cooked to perfection. We also had the tarte which was so good and mushroomy. You definitely have to like mushroom to get that. They made me a delicious Hugo spritz even though it wasn't on the menu so I appreciated that. I came in at the beginning of happy hour, so it was pretty quiet. Because it was not too busy, I had a chance to chat with the GM and bartender, who were both really nice. I saw the GM also showing a couple around and telling them some of the history of the building. My drinks were well-balanced. We have dined at this restaurant in the past (5+ years ago) and enjoyed it, so we were surprised with our disappointing experience. The appetizers were good, and we enjoyed them. Our group primarily ordered steaks and fish for entrees and everyone noticed they were all extremely salty. I mentioned this to the manager on duty, and suggested the food be tasted before sending it out, and he apologized. If you order the ribeye, be very specific about which one you are ordering. There are at least three options. One person in our group ordered the $85 ribeye, but was served and charged the $135 ribeye. We hope this was a misunderstanding and not an opportunity taken to increase the check for a large group. We popped in for happy hour (they were open on July 4th) and loved the charm of the building and the service. We got seated right away and our waiter was so friendly and attentive. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu and got the Boudin Empanadas (1 per serving during Happy Hour) and several orders of the Fried Quail Legs for 50 cents each during Happy Hour. The food came out very quickly and everything was delicious. The fried quail legs were served with a spiced honey sauce that was delicious. The dipping sauce for the empanada was smooth with a great flavor. The decor was beautiful. Our waiter told us that the restaurant had been built inside an older building, and a lot of the walls were still the original architecture. There's also a case in the front of the restaurant when you first walk in. Inside you will see the cuts of meat that are being aged. Overall, we had a great time here. I can't believe I hadn't tried cured earlier, I'm so bummed because the whole experience was FANTASTIC. From the beginning, the doors were opened for us as we walked in. They were offering all day happy hour which is probably ONE of the best happy hours in town- HANDS DOWN. I ordered the boudin Empanada which was very tasty and came with a great chipotle type sauce with homemade pickles. Additionally, I ordered 4 qual legs which were nice and crunchy and were perfectly complemented by the rosemary honey drizzled on top. Their Bahama mama cocktail tasted like I should be sipping somewhere beside the beach. So good, so tropical. Sweet but not too sweet. PERFECT. I also ordered the rosemary citrus haze which was also very good but the Bahama mama was my favorite. The service was amazing. We had a mini history lesson by one of the employees who pointed out what was historic and was was restored or was new. We had the bartender stop by and ask feedback on drinks and just felt very taken care of. Not overbearing but genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed ourselves. I'll definitely be back. Cured is inside in a very cute historic building located in the popular Pearl district and just off the Riverwalk. Upon walking in, you will see a case displaying the cured meat. This was our first time here so of course we had to try the charcuterie board. We got the Reserve Charcuterie Board and added a cheese. This board is substantial! If you shared this between two people, it could serve as a light lunch. We really enjoyed the jam and even took home a bottle of the peach jam. I got the Beer Can Mussels. The portion is very large and I could not finish the entire serving. The mussels were briny and the chunks of ham added a touch of salt. The fries that came with this dish were good - the aioli is very creamy. My fiancé got the Wurst Case Scenario and he really enjoyed it. He said the grits were awesome. If you couldn't tell by the name of the restaurant, Cured is a restauraunt in the Pearl that specializes in cured meats and I was satisfied with my most recent visit. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a bunch of hanging cured meats on a display in a nice historical looking building. The service was also very solid. My table wasn't looking to eat anything heavy so we option for a couple sides such as the Cathead Biscuits ($8) and Fried Chicken Livers ($19). Then we also got the Charcuterie Choice of Nine ($45). The biscuits were delicious and moist and I would certainly give them a 10/10. The fried chicken livers....well chicken livers in general are not my cup of tea with the texture and intense flavor. My table loved them, but I am one of those people that don't have the palette for them unfortunately. The Charcuterie is expensive as expected and I wish they had more cold cut meat options, but their options were unique and tasty. Also very aesthetically pleasing. I didn't get to explore too much of the menu at Cured, but I would like to go back again because of the comfortable environment and experience overall. read more
