No. Did I know there was a Castroville-favorite restaurant there as well? Also no. We had to try it. Located inside the Alsatian Golf Club's clubhouse is their 19th-hole restaurant and bar: Julianna's Restaurant. Upon entry, you realize the place has been around for some time. It feels very classic San Antonio, with wooden walls accented by tan and white bricks. The restaurant's aged interior gives it a cozy, lodge-like charm. Though the restaurant was pretty busy on a Saturday night, we were seated instantly at a booth that gave me a perfect view of the Georgia-Alabama game on the bar's TV. After nine or eighteen holes, you never know what you're in the mood for. That's why Julianna's has plenty of options: sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, seafood, steaks, and other meat dishes. Our server came by very quickly and got us our drinks, which for me was a tall Saint Arnold Oktoberfest. I had a tough time deciding between two options: a bone-in pork chop or their creamy Cajun pasta. I opted for the bone-in pork chop with a Caesar salad, bacon green beans, and herb rice. My dad got the creamy Cajun pasta, and my mom got the Southwest chicken. It wasn't long until the Caesar salad came out, with huge croutons and a generous helping of dressing. It was excellent to the point my mom wished she had ordered it over her chicken tortilla soup, which she also enjoyed. If you ever order a meat entrée and they stick a steak knife in it, you're in for an ESPN Instant Classic. The pork chop was huge, topped with a house raspberry chipotle sauce. It was tender and cooked well. I'll admit, trying to find the bone versus the pork was a challenge, but I think that was a me issue. I would order it again. As for the sides, the bacon green beans were sneakily running for Sixth Man of the Year, and the herb rice paired with the pork chop quite well. I would go back. My wife had the Shimp Tacos and I had the Smash Burger. Fries come with the burger and these guys have shoestring fries! I highly recommend those. This is a big burger and it will fill you up. We really enjoyed our meal. But the Werks is not a burger place. Their menu is impressive. There is something for everyone. Steaks, rib eye, fish, pasta, pizza, salads and a great list of sandwiches. Great service, classy interior with comfortable seating makes this restaurant a good choice for a nice date night.

We notified the server immediately, and when he returned, it was the same drink with no straw or cherry. He mentioned the bartender had added blueberry mix into the peach drink rather than bringing the correct one. That felt odd and inconsiderate. If the drink couldn't be swapped or refunded, it would have been much better to simply be informed instead of receiving this unusual workaround. For my meal, I ordered the ribeye steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes as usual. Disappointingly, the entire plate felt bland. The seasoning was minimal, and it didn't taste like the Stone Werks meals I know and love. Steak and mashed potatoes should be a guaranteed win, especially for this restaurant. On the bright side, the calamari was perfect, crispy and flavorful. I'll still be visiting this location because I genuinely enjoy the restaurant. The chicken once again had that same rubbery, reheated texture, making it hard to believe it had been freshly prepared. My daughter ordered the chicken strips, and they were so over-fried that the breading was painfully hard to chew. She literally had to peel most of the breading off just to eat them because it was hurting her teeth. To be fair, my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak both visits, and he said it was excellent. It looked great as well, so there are clearly some dishes they do well. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for a local business. We genuinely wanted this restaurant to become one of our regular spots. My wife did enjoy her strawberry margarita, which was both flavorful and noticeably strong. I ordered the mole enchiladas and found the mole sauce surprisingly flat and lacking depth. Other dishes around the table were described as just okay overall, although the kids were very happy with the thick, fluffy pancakes. The biggest issue was timing. We didn't receive our entrees until almost 3:00 PM, which made for a very long wait, especially with kids at the table. To the restaurant's credit, they brought out two slices of cake to apologize even though we never complained. Overall, we left pretty underwhelmed, especially considering the occasion. I recently saw that the Acadiana Cafe resurfaced itself, but now at the 113 year old Historic La Coste Hotel near Castroville. It offers a similar Cajun flair menu, but with a twist to the dinning experience. An open bar, a few tables for inside dinning and an outdoor picnic table seating for dinner time meals. Cooking is done in the parked Streamline trailer outside to give that true food truck like experience. Outdoor Live music playing on some nights and it appears to have a relaxed vibe to wind down the day. Goals for a weekend dinner. For today's lunch, I went with the Jambalaya and it had plenty of flavor and spice, while it brought me back to the original taste that I remember so well. Gotta do the biscuits, too to help you go down for an afternoon country nap. Like many small towns, the service was super friendly and we felt right at home even though you order at the bar and then wait to be served.
