The food is excellent and the service is top-notch! It's one of our favorite restaurants.

I hadn't been to SILO Alamo Heights in a long time but when I saw they had a BOGO special, I couldn't pass up that offer. I made reservations for dinner and joined my friends upstairs in the dining room. The interior hadn't changed much but was still elegant as I remember. After being greeted and seated by our server, I looked over the wine menu and noticed that had one of my favorites, Belle Glos Pinot Noir, so I started with that. The table ordered the seared ahi tuna as an appetizer, and I ordered the grilled Atlantic salmon as my main course. The ahi tuna came out and was plated beautifully. The tuna was a bit overdone, but it was full of flavor and tasted great. The grilled salmon came out next and it was delicious. It has moist and tender on the inside and seasoned well on the outside. The crab meat and gravy topping really set it off. Overall, it was great coming back to SILO Alamo Heights and getting reacquainted with the menu. I'll be back to try more of the menu. read more

Service is efficient and mindful. We came in for Restaurant Week. Each item was expertly prepared - pork shank, steak, shrimp and grits, chicken fried oysters. There was a wonderfully smoky flavor on some items from the oak grill. Overall the dishes featured on this special menu were very traditional in style- heavy buttery sauces, emphasis on proteins, large portions. I'm not sure I appreciate this style of cuisine anymore, but if you love it old school, this is the place for you. The menu item I can't stop thinking about is the coconut crème pie. It was a Fridate night kinda evening. It's been a minute since we've been to this place since we usually go to the one on 1604. We made reservations which is highly recommended for this restaurant. They have La Fogata on the ground floor and Silo on the top floor. We went with the fried oysters that sat on a bed of greens and aioli sauce as our appetizer. It's a signature dish which we enjoyed. Our entrees consisted of the pork chop on grits which was good and the sea bass and prawns served with potatoes and mushrooms drizzled with mustard sauce. This dish was phenomenal! I finished the whole meal in spite of being quite full. My husband ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes which they forgot about. Just as well since the pork chop filled him up. We decided to forego the desserts but they are likely worth trying. All in all, we enjoyed our date night at Silo. It helped that they offered a Friday Special which consisted of buy one entree and get the other entree free ($29 value). read more

SILO's dining room is an elegant upstairs refuge serving well-crafted meals. It takes a little know how to find the entrance in the back, check with the host, and then ride the elevator up. The menu offers choices so you can build a meal that unfolds as an experience. On a recent visit we enjoyed starters like grilled shrimp and a classic caesar salad, a steak entree (with potatoes and asparagus) and a cream pie topped with toasted coconut. What a lovely meal we had celebrating my husband's birthday! We hadn't been to this Silo location in years, and we enjoyed being back. Classy, understated, beautiful professional service. We started off with the signature chicken fried oysters served on a bed of garlicky cooked spinach. Light, delicate, delicious! We moved on to the simple, super flavorful arugula and dried fig salad. A lightly fried crispy wedge of Brie sat on top - wow, what an accompaniment! We also had the soup of the day - a creamy andouille sausage dish that we really liked. Next came our entrees: Chilean sea bass (off-menu special) with lump crab served with mashed potatoes and brocolini. Also had the lump crab cake with saffron rice. Both were delicious! We were lucky to have our meal on a Tuesday when a bottle of wine is half price up to $50 off! Our choice was a lovely Daou Paso Robles cabernet. For birthday dessert, four of us shared a Dulce de Leche and chocolate tart. Smooth, creamy, not overly sweet - just right! Really great meal in a relaxing, classy setting. We'll be back!! read more

I didn't realize that the original @siloelevated is the Alamo Heights location. It's all of our first time to visit for dinner tonight. It's a touch different than the other locations. Dad had the Limeade, I had Malbec, and my husband had the Spellbound Pinot Noir. Dad and I shared the Chicken Orzo Soup. My husband had the Baby Wedge. The 2 Way Foie Gras was so delectable! The braised version was fantastic. Just wish there were more toast. Dad and I shared the Pan Roasted Red Snapper. My husband had the Center Cut Ribeye. Everything was so good. We left so full! Tonight, they were having a promotion. If you spend $100, then they give you a $50 gift card to use on your next visit. What a deal! read more

We went to Silo Alamo Heights to start Culinaria Restaurant Weeks. First the disappointment. Parking is terrible. Now that La Fogata is on the first floor there are not enough spaces. La Fogata has tables in every nook and cranny of the floor which exceeds the parking in the lot. And the valet parking has blocked at least half the already small lot. Now for the good. We had a reservation for Silo and we were whisked up for the elevated experience immediately upon arrival. You can tell the front of the house staff are not new and work well as a team. Didn't they used to have bread service? No bread offered on this visit. They have a very diverse wine list that is sure to please all palates. We decided to opt for the Culinaria menu and were not disappointed. My wife had the fried oysters, Caesar salad, and sea bass. Fried oysters have been her favorite for years. The sauce on the sea bass was a black garlic-mushroom sauce that was very good. The sea bass was moist and cooked perfectly. If you ask nicely you can get two appetizers and skip dessert. Caesar salad came with an anchovy. Good, but I prefer it blended with the dressing for a good saltiness. I had the Caesar salad, the GRILLED TEXAS AKAUSHI STRIP with Roasted Red Potatoes, Creamy Roasted Sweet Corn, Grilled Asparagus, Charred Red Peppers, and Herb Chimichurri with cheesecake for dessert. That NY strip, cooked medium rare was perfect. Tender and flavorful. The chimichurri added a nice herb and salt balance with the roasted red peppers. The cheesecake was not a huge portion (fine by me) and was a nice creamy finish to the meal. The Silo team does a great job with both service and food quality without charging outrageous prices. read more

Wednesday night, an oasis in AH. Please put Silo on your list for an upcoming dining experience. It's easy to forget this hidden gem in our neighborhood, but I promise that you will not be disappointed by the excellent food and service. I had the chef's special which was epic. I'll be dreaming about this meal for some time. I started with the butternut squash bisque which I definitely recommend. The red fish special was a very substantial portion and perfectly balanced with the seasoned vegetables. My partner had the tenderloin which was prepared medium rare and very much to his liking. Our server, Joseph, was skilled and attentive. This was fine dining at its best and we feel fortunate to have such a high quality restaurant nearby. My girls and I went here on NYE for dinner. We sat upstairs. We loved the ambiance but the food. Ummmm not so much. We were provided with one menu. For $95.00 dollars. Look at the menu lol. One deviled egg for app, wedge salad and I choose pork and greens for entree and I'm not a big desert eater so I passed on the cakes. The one devil egg made me giggle when I saw it. The small salad that they gave me was a joke. The pork was like eating a hockey puck or maybe chewing on a doggy chew toy. Now the greens and beans were delicious. I was very disappointed with the menu, food and the price. Needless to say, when I left I went home and made me a sandwich. read more

I went there for culinaria. Elevated cuisine. The prefix menu was really good. We have always enjoyed every meal we have had there. We arrived probably 8 minutes before our reservation, but they would not seat us. Said they had to control the guest traffic upstairs. We were able to enjoy a drink at the bar downstairs at their sister restaurant La Fogata. 2 different atmospheres. Felt like I was overdressed for the Mexican restaurant with the intention to eat at a the high end Silos. When we got up there is was not even that busy. There were several open tables. However, the food and service was excellent. They start you off with your choice of condiment in your water. A variety of citrus and mint and cucumbers. The pre-fix menu for culinaria comes with a choice of appetizer, main course, and desert. I opted for the wine pairing, but my husband did not. It was a great experience and a good choice to try elevated cuisine with more affordable options. The one thing that is inconvenient is that there is no bathroom upstairs. You have to take the elevator down to the other restaurant and use their bathroom. read more

Delicious food and great service! We hadn't been since the remodel. The decor is beautiful as expected. The fried oysters are a must! They are a meal in themselves!!! Delicious! Silo in Alamo Heights is one of my go-to happy hour spots! I've been here more times than I can count. Everything about this place is great- the food, the service, the ambiance, the patrons...you name it and it's going to be great. Now, I've never been to dine in the upstairs portion of the restaurant which is their more formal, sit-down portion of the space (but I've heard great things). I personally always opt to stay downstairs at the bar where it's a bit more casual. They have daily happy hour specials (that you absolutely can't beat), that includes $5 house cocktails, specially priced food items from a limited menu, and the happy hour lasts for several hours AND on the weekends. Now for the food-If you're opting to stay downstairs at the bar (but they're available in the main restaurant portion as well) it's just not a trip to Silo without ordering their truffle fries (they're addictive) or their margherita pizza. Often my best friend and I will order this and split as a meal. It's super cheap for the quality and plenty filling. BUT they're Silo Burger and Wild Boar Sliders are also absolutely spot on. FYI, they also have a chill outdoor patio perfect for daydrinking on a gorgeous Texas day. Do yourself a favor, and Silo to your happy hour rotation! read more

Well I have been here three times and they can't seem to get the food right. They are dealing with, what I call, an uninspired kitchen. You can't be miserable and serve good food. So the kitchen is either burnt out, bad management (duh) or they are inexperienced in how to create quality under pressure. SILO used to be very high end. I think the restauranteurs that own it may have become uninspired themselves. BUT, the bar is awesome and fun and the bartenders are great. Super attentive and always end up apologizing for the food but they do what they can to make it better. This restaurant is in a good location so it will always get traffic, which means they don't have to work that hard for business but people will come once or twice and get frustrated like my man did and say nope, too many chances to get it right. We're done. I sincerely hope that they work on the kitchen side of their business. read more

Our 7:45 reservation didn't get our food until 850. 2 other tables were seated right when we got our food and they got their food like 20 minutes later. They also didn't want to honor a free entree coupon THEY sent me after I made my reservation well longer than a week in advance. I'm not sure I'll be back. read more

Excellent food and even better on the service side. Walked in and was greeted by a wonderful hostess who welcomed us. And thanked us for dining with them. The short elevator ride up to the second floor was nice and smooth in a glass enclosed elevator. When the doors open, you walk into a Beautiful dining room that looks warm and cozy. We were quickly greeted by a waiter and served with water with fresh fruit choices, shortly after, we also received a basket dog bread in homemade butter. The calamari appetizer was great followed by the redfish and shrimp meal. My wife had the chicken fried oysters and she said that they were the best she had ever had. I've been here a few times. Their happy hour specials are super great because they last so long, and they have them on the weekends too! Last time I was here it was their restaurant week special which had a few tasty options. I got the chicken fried oysters as an app which are a staple at SILOs, and it definitely does not disappoint. I got the pan seared reddish and the orange cheesecake. Everything was super tasty. A few friends got the wine pairings with their RW menu and each glass was really good wine with a nice hefty pour. I will say their prices are a little steep if you're not going for happy hour or restaurant week, so just be aware! I'll definitely be back more times while I'm in SA. Avoid at all costs. I came here with a group to celebrate my friend's birthday. The server Jason is miserable and negative from the start. There was a HAIR ON MY FRIEND'S PLATE. He attempted to wipe it off with his hand. She wiped it off and said never mind. Gross. We had a set menu: salad, entree and dessert. He said he didn't charge me for dessert so I ended up without one. The manager Tonya or Toya or whatever was unhelpful, pathetic. They should find something else to do for a living. read more

It was a little tricky finding the entrance, but very cool area downstairs with some live music, so we didn't mind! The atmosphere upstairs didn't disappoint either. You can see the chefs, the flames and the action in the kitchen, a huge wall of wine, and a big open window overlooking the live music downstairs. The service was great, from the host to our server, who was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Does food ever want to make you sing? My beef tenderloin made me want to sing. Visited here for happy hour for the first time and I'm mad I didn't know about this place earlier! They have a great $5 happy hour special that runs until 9pm!!! Apps and drinks! Every day of the week! The bar is pretty big and surrounded by lounge style couches. I tried the cucumber kaiparasohka, which is basically a martini. It was very tasty, not too sweet. I may or may not have had three. Shhhh. The food was just okay. But for $5 you really can't complain. I tried the calamari, chicken wings and the truffle fries. Oh Silo! You disappointed. Heard such good things from friends and then went there for dinner as a group. Pictures of my "Caesar salad" attached. It's 3 leaves of lettuce rolled in half a tsp of Caesar dressing with 4 croutons and a sad little Parmesan crisp. Ordered the chef's selection fish which as you can see (compared to my fork) is a scrawny piece about a third of an inch thick and, oh so dry! I can get a better piece of fish from Culver's for $3 Servers were cordial so hence two stars. Will not be recommending this place to anyone, will not be coming back. That's a shame. Sometimes when you hear so much hype on something there is no way the item can live up to those expectations and one ends up disappointed. This is one of those rare wonderful exceptions where the hype pales in comparison to reality. The Chicken Fried Oysters; Crunchy fried oysters with Sautéed Spinach with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Tart Apples & Whole Grain Mustard Hollandaise. Reminded me of a crunchy Oyster Rockefeller. Fantastic. I also had the Duck Spring Rolls, delicious fried spring rolls with plenty of tasty duck, Glass noodles, Cilantro, Shiitake Mushrooms & Hot Fanny Sauce. I left a prior review about how their overgrown shrubbery left a huge scratch down the entire side of my brand new expedition. The owner left a reply on here stating you contact him to see what he could do about it. He made it appear like he was doing the right thing. I sent him a couple of messages as he asked me to do but he never responded or take care of the damages. So I am updating my review to reflect not only did their negligence cause damage to my vehicle but also, they clearly did not care. I spoke to the manager, Jennifer, and she told me the owner wasn't going to do anything about it. So, there you go. Hey, they did cut the shrubs back so they clearly knew they were in the wrong because you couldn't avoid them in the driveway. So they knew they were wrong. So there's that. This is a great place for large groups. I attended a training event/dinner meeting at this location. The company reserved the back room on the first floor. The staff was very accommodating and handled the large group well. I was very impressed with the way they took care of us. It was about 25 people. They closed the door between our area and the bar so cut down on the noise. Unfortunately, the door was very heavy and difficult to get in and out during the meeting. We had a limited menu. I had a chicken meal with masked potatoes and vegetables. It was amazing. The sauce was perfect, the potatoes were smooth, and the veggies were tender. A co-worker had the shrimp and grits. It smelled amazing. For dessert I had some kind of chocolate parfait thing. The restroom were clean and very interestingly decorated. But very small. It would be easy to get lost looking for your group unless you had a reservation. There are 2 floors and the place is a bit of a maze. Neat place, well decorated, good food, clean, and good staff. read more
