I stopped by yesterday afternoon. This small bakery in Berkeley has some of the BEST cupcakes that I have ever had. Previously, I have heard so many great things about this bakery, mostly from my mom LOL.. I ordered some for my dad's birthday last year but did not get to try them. Since I was in the area yesterday, I decided to stop by and give them a try. I ordered 9 cupcakes total for my family and I. We completely devoured them. I ate the red velvet and key lime pie cupcakes because those two flavours were the ones that I was really looking forward to. The red velvet was so rich and moist, one of the best red velvet cupcakes that I have ever tried. The key lime cupcake was very unique. I love the key lime filling in the middle. Cupcakes: 5/5 stars.... Some of the BEST cupcakes I have ever tried. So moist. Customer service: The lady was a little rude. My mom asked her the name of one of the cupcakes and she rudely responded " the name is right there on the glass." The name of that cupcake was not written clearly, so my mom genuinely couldn't read it. The lady also did not have a mask, which is kind of irresponsible considering we are in a pandemic and this is a bakery with food items. With that being said, I won't really rate the customer service. I'm assuming she was having a bad day. My mom and I plan on stopping by again tomorrow because it will be my dad's birthday this weekend, so we plan on buying some cupcakes for him from this bakery. For now, due to the rude customer service from yesterday, I will leave them a 4 star rating.... For now. I would definitely recommend Cupcakin' to others. Wondering what a taste of heaven is like? Hmmmmm baby! This is the spot. Who doesn't like a tasty cupcake? But just saying this is tasty is not doing these little bites of heaven justice. Today 11/19/21, I stopped in for my cupcake fix and found a sign hanging on the door saying out to lunch. Luckily, I only had 2 minutes to wait before the store opened and during that time quite the line formed. I ordered 2 velvet, 2 salted caramel, and 2 carrot cake cupcakes. The lady working the counter was in such a hurry she didn't give me a chance to peruse their other offerings. I figured I had patience waiting for her to finish her lunch that's the least she could do for me. That said this place gets 5 stars from me for serving up some of the best cupcakes I have ever had. I'm not much of a cupcake person. I always thought it was a mid tier kind of dessert. It was ahead of all pies except for cheesecake (that's technically a pie) and that it was below cake itself. But the cupcakes here have been telling me that I should reconsider my feelings about their level in my dessert ranking. I ordered four flavors and two sizes of cupcakes. I got the Carrot Cake cupcake, the Oreo cupcake, the Red Velvet cupcake (2 minis and 1 regular) and the vegan Sugar Cookie cupcake. I am astounded at how moist these cupcakes are. Like they tasted so fresh, so sweet, so good. And the flavoring for each was spot on! I controlled myself and ate only bits and pieces the day I bought them. I finished the rest the next day and the next day they were still so moist! They were kept out of the fridge and just hanging out on my countertop. These are usually $1 to $2 dollars cheaper per cupcake, and they still taste just as good. *They have a weekly schedule of their flavors and they also often have seasonal flavors. You can check on their website for what flavors that they'll be offering that day. *This is a cashless business but they do accept cash tips (I usually tip the hard working staff in cash when I can). We couldn't resist! We went back a few days later and had to try a bunch of other flavors! We tried the lemon cream pie (WOW) and bourbon peach cobbler (OMG - it had some peach bits in the middle), my husband and I loved it and the Madagascar vanilla was good but wasn't all that special after you have tasted the other two. My parents grabbed some cupcakes for their anniversary at the Walnut Creek locations but thankfully this location is open on Mondays. Cupcakin' has a variety of cupcakes to choose from and they rotate their season flavors and be sure to check their website to see what cupcakes they're selling the day that you go. The cupcakes I had for my birthday were funfetti, red velvet, chocolate salted caramel, carrot cake, and chocolate peppermint. Out of the six my favorite has to be the red velvet. Maybe it's my age. Telegraph Ave was a stomping ground for me when I was in high school and in college. But now? All of my favorite haunts (Blondies, Fat Slice, Noah's, GAP, etc.) are gone and this place makes me weary. That being said, I love their cupcakes and was excited to go in. But I was a bit underwhelmed with what I saw. And the grime of Telegraph Ave, may be outside, but I wasn't keen to order anything. So I walked out. The person working there was totally nice. And greeted me. But as usual, they were sold out of a lot and I wasn't inspired to read or even ask about their offerings. Light, fluffy cupcakes with a cute shop interior! We ordered a red velvet and a carrot cake cupcake. The red velvet was a little overly sweet, but nonetheless had great texture to it. It was very soft and fluffy. The carrot cake decoration on top was really cute, and it was not too sweet. The texture was a bit heavier, due to more cream being used. SALTED CARAMEL CUPCAKES!!! (my personal fav!) I could inhale half a dozen in one sitting! They're certainly good cupcakes! During the beginning of the pandemic, I started following them on IG and have been dreaming of stopping by their shop when in the area! Finally I had the opportunity to stop by a few months ago and I ended up buying about 2 dozen cupcakes! The cupcakes were all super moist and light! You could easily eat 4-6 at a time! These cupcakes are way better than Sprinkles, Kara's, Susies, etc. I wished they had a store in the South Bay or delivery to the South Bay! Parking can be a bit tricky in downtown Berkeley. Best cupcakes in the Bay! The cupcake base is super fluffy, light, and moist. They definitely tasted freshly made. There are a variety of flavors to choose from and have vegan options as well. I recommend that you check online on the flavors they have for that day. I tried the red velvet and the carrot cake. The red velvet is what sold me. It has the perfect cream cheese frosting to cake ratio and the sweetness of the frosting and cream cheese flavor are very well balanced. The carrot cake is delicious as well but I am just not a big fan of the strong nutmeg flavor. Also want to point out how nice and thoughtful the packaging they have here. My two cupcakes were nicely secured in the box and I didn't have to worry about them tipping over one another during my ride back home. I'm not a sweet type of preference person but when I do that means I've been craving something sweet for a very long time. I've always wanted to try this shop as I love around the corner. The place always looks clean and very elegant with its white tile. Along with the decor and the cupcakes, it pops out the invitation to come in to a nice ambiance. Now...they're cupcakes. I didn't see anything else and I like that since they are true to their name. I enjoy the plethora of options that I can choose from. I did inform the staff member that it was my first time and usually I'm explained what is what. I was told based on what I would be craving from chocolate, to caramel, to vanilla, and beyond. I love red velvet and that was going to be my search and it is present. The cupcakes are very refined in image and aesthetically pleasing. Boxes are provided which is always nice. Let you decide why my friend an I made it a point to head over the Bay Bridge to get some on our recent visit to the Bay Area. On a serious note - we're in a pandemic. Cash only. I tried to pay cash but was denied. Safety precaution but if I were robbing the place, I'd want the cupcakes anyway. They were delicious and worth dealing with the traffic that comes with bridges and interchanges. I don't remember all the flavors we chose - but I do remember the Key Lime Pie and the Flavor of the month - Dirty South. Both were full of flavor and to my surprise, still tender (not hard) and moist (not dry) the next day. I'm not a big fan of cupcakes but I am a fan of these. I found this hidden gem on the way to my favorite pizza place, Square Pie Guys in Oakland. I parked and looked across the street, saw the sign that caught my eye. Pizza wasn't ready yet, so why not check out a dessert to go with dinner, right? As you walk up, you can see the buttery, beautiful cupcakes staring back at you! The young lady was very nice! Oh my ganache, cupcakin' cupcakes are bomb! Randomly came across this place as they're located close to TP tea. There was a line when my friend and I walked by, and after grabbing boba, the line had disappeared so we decided to venture in on a whim. There were about 6-8 different cupcake flavaflavs nicely displayed on 3-tier stands. They all looked delicious and tempting. I decided to treat myself and pick out 3 cupcakes. I chose double chocolate, salted caramel, and funfetti. As the lady was grabbing the cupcakes and putting it into the box, I noticed 4 wells. In my mind, I felt compelled to get one more cupcake to complete the set. AND I did just that! Red velvet it was! I was hella treating myself and I was of course going to share if anybody asked, lol. The cupcakes are on the expensive side at $4 a piece. It's been a while since I bought a gourmet cupcake and I don't recall paying that much. However, the quality of the cupcakes were pheNOMenal! The cupcakes were moist and you could tell what flavaflav was which. My favorite was the salted caramel and the funfetti. I have frequented these cupcakes on multiple occasions in Berkeley and every-time the quality is consistent and delicious! On numerous occasions my friends and I have gotten these cupcakes for occasions, birthdays and every time the cupcakes always delivered a smile on the recipient. What truly captivated me was the red velvet cupcakes. Dare I say these red velvet cupcakes come in a close second to Susie Cake's red velvet cupcakes in San Francisco?! The red velvet cupcake has the perfect amount of cream cheese frosting and the sweetness of the frosting alongside the richness of the cake perfectly complement one another. The carrot cake was also delicious, however in comparison to the red velvet it does not even begin to compare. The cupcake however, was moist and soft with not a too strong carrot after taste and just the right amount of butter cream frosting topped with walnuts. All of the cupcakes come properly secured in a box with small cutouts that engulf the cupcake's base and keep them from moving and getting smooshed. Wrote a review about Cupcakin' years ago and the owner got in my DMs and basically bullied me into taking the post down...but I've decided to share my experience once again. What I can say is this: the cupcakes are delicious but because I had a negative experience with Cupcakin', I completely stopped buying them. My family and I used to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of cupcakes from Cupcakin' back in the day. We once ordered about two dozen cupcakes from them and they delivered us the wrong cupcakes. We literally spent all day going back and forth with them on the phone to either get the cupcakes we ordered or our money back. The staff basically tried to convince us to keep the cupcakes that we didn't order and didn't want to resolve the situation. It was all very unprofessional to say the least. What was more upsetting was that the person who we interacted with us on the phone noticed that we were black and tried to weaponize that against us and guilt trip us by saying "didn't you want to support a black business?" I'll never forget that. The owner of this business was very crass as well. She was very quick to "clap back" and never took accountability for anything that happened. She got in my DMs (I have receipts) and basically gaslit me and guilt tripped me into deleting my post. I told myself that I'd never support a person like that, black or otherwise. It seems she's doing well without my business and I'm not mad at it. I hope they actually changed and learned something. I can't bring myself to purchase anything from this place after such a jarring experience, but I wish them nothing but the best. read more

CUPCAKES ::: the yummiest moistest cupcakes everrr! Had these at a baby shower and they were a hit. We had the Summer Berry and Double Chocolate. These cupcakes will make you wanna do the happy dance. The summer berry was a vanilla cake and inside had these perfect blend of crushed berries and CREAM frosting and topped with berries too. The chocolate melted in your mouth the moment you sank your teeth in it. And had just the perfect frosting. I love their creativity and can't wait to try their other flavors! Cupcakin makes the best cup cakes i've ever had! I've tried this place in the past but I recently scheduled as order for pickup for an event. I ordered 3 dozens of their mini cupcakes and my only ask was for 6 of them to be vegan. Cupcakin did an excellent job os choosing yummy flavors and following the directions. They provided me with red velvet, chocolate sprinkle, carmel chocolate, and a seasonal pumpkin flavor as well and key lime pie and a vegan chai flavor (not pictured). All of the flavors were very unique. My favorite was probably the key lime pie which says a lot because i don't even like pie! the bottom has a pie like crust and has filling in the center. Sooo good! All of the cupcakes were very moist and rich and the different frostings paired nicely with their respective batters. Went here for the first time and got the Key Lime cupcake. It was very moist, very decadent, and overall was a great snack. The flavor was pretty subtle until I got to the key lime filling in the middle, which was a bit surprising - I expected the flavor to be stronger throughout the cupcake rather than being concentrated in the middle. 9/10. The shop itself is very cute and has a fair amount of Instagrammable spots for visitors to take pics of their cupcakes. I would definitely come here again to try out the various flavors. To make matters worse, the cupcakes were completely destroyed upon arrival to our home, so we were not able to serve them. We reached out to both the delivery service (who offered a $2.00 refund, for a purchase that was completely destroyed?), and to the shop via both Facebook and email - and no refund was offered, nor any kind of apology offered. We ordered mini cupcakes for our wedding, as well as a six-inch cake to cut for photos. We bought a bunch of cupcakes in-store before placing the order online so we could test taste. Placing the order was easy and Cupcakin was responsive to my questions. They customized one of their standard six-inch cakes to be just the way we wanted. They confirmed the order the week before our wedding and the delivery was right on time. I've heard from lots of our guests about how much they loved the cupcakes. My hands down favorite cupcake in the Bay. It's that's simple. Never dry and not too sweet. I revisited the goddess of cupcakes (might rhyme with pringles) and you know what? I don't ever have to go back. I will never get tired of Cupcakin's Carrot Cake and Red Velvet, classic OGs. My GF friends are always very happy to receive a cupcake from here. Came in on a Tuesday around 3pm and there was a decent selection of flavors. I purchased a vanilla milk chocolate and a chocolate peanut butter cupcake. Cupcakes were fluffy and moist and frosting was yummy. The frosting consistency on the vanilla cupcake seemed a bit denser than usual but could be the cold weather. I've only ever come during the warmer months and the frosting seemed softer. Still, it was delicious. The lady that assisted us was friendly. COVID precautions - masks required and limit of 2 people per store. Parking - since UCB students are at home, parking is easier to find! read more
