Found their truck just off of State and Lake yesterday and I had just seen them on Cupcake Wars so I had to check them out. I got the Spicy Sriracha Turtle cupcake and I waited a couple hours til dinner at work to try it I even shared it with my coworkers. By far the best cupcakes we could find for our wedding in Chicago. Strongly recommend the Key Lime, Peanut Butter, Reese's Pieces, and German Chocolate. They did a wonderful tasting with us, which was totally worth the drive out to the suburbs. The flavors at most other cupcake places always sounded better than they were, but Cupcakes for Courage blew us away with both flavor and appearance. I went for breakfast and everything on their menu looked so good. I finally decided on the breakfast burrito. It was so delicious. I would totally go back and get it again. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The place is super cute and clean. I highly recommend the breakfast. I now am a regular. I have tried several things on their menu and have loved all of it. Seeing as how it had a line, I figured it must be good and that I'd give it a try. It was a rare day that I actually had cash. Turns out I wouldn't have needed cash. The guy in front of me used his credit card. I bought birthday cake and lemon raspberry and wow - both are just delicious. The plan was to take one home for dessert tonight but both are gone. Very moist cake, light fluffy frosting - just delicious. $3.25 for a standard size cupcake is pricey, I agree with other reviewers there, but I'm happy to know that 10% of their profit goes to charity. read more

I never visited this cupcake truck, but my friend raved about this place and bought me two different cupcakes: pink velvet (red velvet) and strawberry (strawberry cream cheese w/ strawberry cake). These cupcakes are one of the most moist cupcakes I sank my teeth into. They are the right amount of sweetness and gets the sugar high done. As you noticed, I'm raving about how good these cupcakes are, why would I only rate 3 stars??? It is because they are not easily accessible. The only place you would find them is in the heart of downtown during rush hour; the biggest reason why I never visited. Also their truck isn't really unique and easily noticeably. We just stopped on a whim to grab a sweet treat for on the way home then we saw that they support cancer research which is something so near to my family! I walked past the green truck while it was parked in downtown. I had the Key Lime Pie cupcake and the first thought after having a bite was, "HOW!?!" I have no idea HOW they made a small cupcake taste exactly like a Key Lime Pie. The cupcake was delicious! It was not overly sweet and it was the perfect size. They rotate flavors throughout the week and have some everyday flavors (like chocolate on chocolate and vanilla bean) as well. I ran into the Cupcakes for Courage food truck outside the Harold Washington library and was immediately intrigued by their name. I'm usually not one to splurge on gourmet cupcakes, but while in the library I googled the company. 10% of their profits go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Ride Janie Ride foundation, which supports Chicago area residents facing financial hardship from cancer treatment. I was immediately hooked. When I came out and saw the truck still standing there, I took it as a sign that I needed to buy a $4 cupcake. Yesterday, my family decided to stop in for breakfast. This young team of entrepreneurs has a great deal to learn. They're design and presentation are nice. Their food - was good. Their service was surprisingly poor by the cupcake team and great by the catering brothers/company. After spending $75 across 3 receipts (1-for our breakfast, 2-for our boys and 3-take out bakery), my husband asked for his coffee to be topped off on our way out. NOTE: The format here is that you walk up to the counter, order then they bring it to your table. So, we sat down and ate our breakfast (first $40 something was for our 4 breakfasts). Anyway, so when we were leaving and he asked for the topper, the girl behind the counter said, "It's a $1.00 for refills", to which the young woman, we presume to be the owner, who had even taken one of our 3 orders, stated, "Actually you should pay for another cup, we only top off for customers that eat in." Really - we were in there for 45 minutes! And, there are only 8 tables....they didn't remember seeing us? That was disappointing for a new restaurant that we might have frequented on Saturdays as a family. read more

The Chocolate Peanut Butter, OMG squared! I love them so much I had to have them at my wedding which took place May 11th of this year. The baked goods are delicious as is the brunch. The cupcakes are fantastic! However, last week we waited about 45 minutes for our breakfast. We've been there twice for breakfast and both times have been a long wait. Both time, my husbands eggs were brown on the bottom. I'm not really sure why it takes so long but it needs to be addressed. I get the impression that the kitchen is not running smoothly. Additionally, I think they need someone to focus more on the front including clearing tables and replenishing the water dispenser and half and half. Dirty dishes just pile up in a bin off to the side without being cleared. Once they get the breakfast service fixed and a clearer division of duties in the front, this place will be perfect! Happened upon the truck on my way up to the Harold Washington Library stop in the Loop and decided to get two to take home. I bought the peanut butter banana and pink velvet cupcake. Best cupcakes, hands down, I've ever had in Chicago and in my life. They were big in size and the flavor of that peanut butter banana cupcake was incredible. Both cakes were moist, flavorful, and the frosting was the perfect consistency. Plus, they donate to cancer research and are somehow part (or donates to, not sure) of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; both a cause and organization I hold near and dear to my heart. My fiance and I fell in love with Cupcakes For Courage/Courages Bakery. We went in for a tasting and Laura made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We both instantly decided to have Laura make cupcakes for our wedding. She listened to our ideas, gave some of her own and we couldn't of been happier with the end result. For weeks heading up to our wedding, we would visit the bakery just to try all of the 50 flavors that they offer. We are very happy with how all the cupcakes tasted: Pink Velvet, Vanilla Bean, Turtle, and the glutten free banana cream (we couldn't even tell it was GF it was sooo good). Noble purpose behind their cupcakes, but they get two stars for how they run their business. First, I bought $150 worth of cupcakes for a baby shower and when I asked for some individual plastic containers in case guests wanted their cupcakes to-go, the girl had to ask another employee and after their whispering, she gave me 3 containers. Seriously, how much could the containers cost? A nickel? A quarter? I bought $150 worth of cupcakes! Second, I went in to get a dozen cupcakes for a Father's Day BBQ. My husband really likes the Triple B cupcake and he's a first time father. I went in at 10am (they open at 8am) and they didn't have their flavors of the day ready, so I placed an order and was told to come back at 11am. When I got there at 11am, they told me the cupcakes still aren't ready. I asked for an exact time to return and the cashier said, "ehhh to be safe try back at noon." Try back, seriously!? Most bakeries start baking BEFORE they open. Cupcakes are good, but the annoyance to get them isn't worth it. read more

My amazing man picked up some cupcakes from here on his way home from work to continue to feed my ridiculous sweet tooth. He ended up getting a black and white (my favorite!), a chocolate peanut butter cup, a white chocolate raspberry, and a spicy sriracha turtle. All of the cupcakes were amazing EXCEPT the spicy sriracha turtle. I LOVE me some sriracha but ohlord the smokiness of the mesquite chocolate cake and the smoked caramel killed me. It reminded me of this terrible smoky whiskey I tried once and both (the bite of cupcake and the whiskey) barely got swallowed. Also, in both cases, my mouth tasted like a fireplace for days. Uggggggggh. Anyway, besides the smoky cupcake, all the others were delicious. I definitely prefer the vanilla buttercream to the whipped meringue buttercream but that is just a matter of taste. I love a thick buttercream that is super sweet and CfC definitely hits the mark on this. And the best part about these cupcakes is that the cake part is delicious on all of them as well. I tried their black and white cupcake from their food truck that was parked near Neiman Marcus at Northbrook court. I like that there is a cause behind this business. The cupcake I had however was not very fresh--and apparently had either been frozen or refrigerated as it was very cold when I received it. It was such a shame that the sponge was not fresh--the frosting was overly sweet and did not really have the taste of a good black and white frosting. I know that it said on the truck that they won cupcake wars--it must have been for the display--their frosting never could have won the show--if it is supposed to be butter cream, it might be helpful to use real butter and cream--this was just alot of confectioners sugar. Cupcakes are so popular--there are probably better options out there. read more
