I still love Cup Pop!! We still will make the 45-minute drive one way to come here when we can! I love the Chicken Katsu and the Beef Bulgogi bowls with fried rice - both come with delicious sauces and the perfect sides. They have never disappointed. Everything is made to order and they seem to have a small staff, so please be patient with the workers! It can sometimes take a bit of time to order and get your food. If you need to move quickly, definitely call ahead! Service and ambiance is very no-frills - they will make your food (very well), but most of the rest is up to you. This may not be the place for folks who love to be waited on! Some things to know: PARKING & ACCESS - Cup Pop is behind a gas station and a smoothie king (as of 11/2023). If you're confused, then you're probably in the right place! The parking lot is small, but there's plenty of parking for the businesses that are there. The restaurant is well-marked, and there's only one entrance. INTERIOR - Cup Pop is a small restaurant, but nothing about it feels cramped. The interior is very simple and functional, but in a way that feels quaint. ORDERING - Order at the counter that is straight back when you walk into the restaurant. It's a bit of a DIY experience - get your own drink out of the upright cooler, and pick up your food from the counter when its ready. When you're done, clear your own table into the trash cans. SEATING - You will sit wherever you like in the restaurant - there are a small number of tables and chairs that could be moved together for a larger group if they aren't busy, but please check with the staff first and be sure to move them back when you're done! I believe there is also a bench to sit on if you are waiting on a to go order. RESTROOMS - A one-person restroom is down the long hallway to the right of the front counter. It is no-frills, but has always been clean! DRINK SUPPLY - When I was there last, there was a limited supply of drinks. They normally have Milkis and a couple other Korean drinks and then a small supply of Coke products. They didn't have the drink I wanted last time I was there, but I just ran to the supermarket across the parking lot and grabbed one while I waited for my food to be ready - it was no problem! read more

Great portion, great food. A bit of a hole in the wall, but the food was so good. I got the combination and it came with Kani, pork, and bulgogi, wonton, rice, japchae. My husband got the chicken katsu. I have to say, I think the katsu was crisped so perfectly. The food took a little long, but it wasn't a big deal to me, because it was cooked to order. Right after we ordered, 8 people showed up and took up the whole shop, so not a big shop. It was a 40 min drive down here from Nashville but so worth it :) Will be back. read more

Soooo good. The beef and the combo are my favorite. The beef is seasoned perfectly, a with a bit of sweetness, served over rice, with a side of sweet potato glass noodles (amazing! Also seasoned) some fresh chopped cabbage and 2 pot stickers (fried meat dumplings). It's good even with out the sauce! It's a sweet sauce they recommend poring over top and mixing with the meat and rice. The combo was a crab salad and some chicken which is good but spicy for me. I also tried kimchi for the first time. Vinegar marinated cabbage with sriracha-type sauce and garlic. Good offset to the sweet bbq beef. So good. My mouth is watering now! read more

I've been wanting to try this place since it's been open and I finally got a a chance to try it! It's on the college side of town so this place is definitely hole in the wall. The plaza looks very sketch. Upon arriving into the restaurant you'll be greeted by the owner. She's very nice and friendly. The inside isn't anything fancy but it's clean. Tables are older along with chairs. They had an actual baby high chair in there for babies but I did not trust putting my son in there. I use a high chair protector and it's for the restaurant style high chairs and was expecting that here. I ordered the combination dish and my husband ordered spicy bulgogi. My husbands dish was delicious. My combination dish was a little funky. It came with beef (funky flavor that didn't coordinate with the dish), pork (it was like my husbands dish, but his was better lol), and seafood (taste like something they would put in a sushi roll). The seafood was only imitation crab meat. I was expecting different types of seafood, especially for the price increase compared to all other dishes. The clear noodles that were served with the entrees were sweet and cold. Something we didn't care for. The wontons were cold too and drizzled with sweet and sour sauce. I think there was just too much going on for one entree. That being said, we were expecting some kimchi as a little side instead of iceberg lettuce. Also, I've noticed they've gone up in price since they have been open and I think they've been in business for a little over a year? I wish I would of tried it when they first open. Delicious bowls of Korean food! I just moved here from Orange County, California and I miss all the Korean BBQ there so I was thrilled when my friend introduced me to Cup Pop. I highly recommend the combo bowl as it has a little of everything. The beef bulgolgi is sweet and savory, the pork is well flavored with gochujang so it's spicy but not too spicy, and the seafood mix pairs well with the rice. It's also served with jap chae (glass noodles) and fried mandu (dumplings). I can't decide which is my favorite, and I love how they all taste together, but you can get a beef, pork, or seafood bowl if you'd prefer. Story Time: Girlfriend wasn't feeling great, no idea why, but she wanted Ramen. Because how she was feeling I didn't want to take her to a big sit down restaurant, so I looked for something we could take home. We go in, see the choices on the wall. I'm deciding between the combo and the spicy pork, decided on spicy pork. I explained the menu a bit to her and she went with chicken. Guy was helpful since it was our first time there. We got our food on our way home the gf asked if the ramen had broth, I told her no, she got a little sad. Once we got home and separated our togo containers, which you could tell they took time and effort in making it look nice, even gave use stickers with instructions and labels. Well we each tried every piece one at a time to check the flavor. She was not disappointed with the pearl ramen that she got, her mood did a 180, I'm happily full. The Cup Pop building is located behind the Smoothie King across from Murphy Center. Easily missable but worth the trip over there. I think the concept of Korean BBQ bowls really works for this area as a quick and easy meal for students on the go. I believe each bowl starts off with a base of either steamed or fried rice, with japchae (noodles), protein, veggies and sauce. Kind of like a bibimbap but not really. I ordered chicken katsu pop which was fresh and delicious. The tonkatsu sauce was different than the traditional Japanese sauce, but similar in taste. My boyfriend got the spicy bulgogi at level 3 spice. On a scale of 1-5 he tried to order a 4, but the sweet owner looked at him and asked, "Are you sure? Four is VERY spicy and five is extreme." He took her advice and ordered a 3 which ended up being almost too spicy for him, and we're pretty good about handling spicy food. All in all the food was delicious and had all the right flavors of traditional Korean food. The inside is pretty bare, aside from the menu signage and K-Pop posters. Which is totally fine, but I recommend taking food to go or calling ahead. There are a good amount of tables but I found that the kitchen ventilation wasn't the greatest, and you could come out of there smelling like you actually sat at a KBBQ grill table (which they do not have). I'm not in this side of town very often, but I'd definitely make it a point to come back! read more

On our way back from Lynchburg yesterday and our whiskey tasting made us hungry, so we pulled this place up on Yelp and headed over. We're *big* into any kind of Asian cuisine (Thai, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc etc, GIMME ALL OF DAT), so we always jump at the chance to try a new establishment! This place was about 10-12 mins from the interstate, but worth the drive. We showed up about 50 mins before closing, and there were a few people waiting for takeout, and a few tables with patrons eating. Super no frills, basic atmosphere in terms of decoration, but they did have a tv and also some k-pop posters! I love k-pop, lol. It's so great. So that was cool! The menu is comprised of bowls - spicy bulgogi, bulgogi, seafood, etc - layered over rice with sauces. Lovely lady at the cashier took our to-go order - we ordered two combo bowls, which had all 3 (spicy bulgogi, regular bulgogi, and seafood, which appeared to be shredded crab in a mayo based sauce) along with rice, a small portion of noodles, and 2 cute little baby gyoza. They also had a cooler full of ice cream treats - I saw some ice cream filled taiyaki in there that I totally regret not getting. I think our total was around $22. We paid and went to sit on the side bench to wait for our food - I love that they have that little waiting area! Beats taking up a table or awkwardly standing by the doorway to wait for takeout. It didn't take long - maybe 10 mins - and we were out the door. This is a TON of food - check out my photo for the to-go container layout. I got 3 meals out of this, and it was all SO good. Great spice level (a little heat but not unmanageable even for the "medium" level spice people, like me. lol), excellent umami flavors, rice was cooked perfectly, YUM.
