Hibachi is not as tasty as I remember it being. That seems to be the consensus from my group. This is an extremely chic restaurant (by Murfreesboro standards), packed with big families around the holidays. I came here with my grandparents for a little dinner and a show. Service is ok, they're dealing with a lot of people in a loud and crazy environment, but I thought it lacked a feeling of TLC. The salad that comes with the hibachi meal was swimming in dressing, way overdressed. But the soup was delicious. Hard to mess up a broth. The hibachi guy was great, not the most exciting show I'd ever seen but he certainly had the spirit. I got the shrimp and steak combo hibachi with fried rice and veggies. The steak was pretty flavorless and had very little char. That was my least favorite part. I think a lot of the flavors could have used a bit of tweaking. Highly recommend Samurai's Cuisine to anyone in the Boro looking for a good hibachi grill! My family and I enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back. My husband is a big fan of hibachi restaurants so this one's been on my list since moving to TN. We were seated right away when we arrived which was great because it was a Friday evening so I thought it might be packed. Our waitress was super attentive during our visit and quick to grab anything we needed. We also had a great hibachi chef for our dinner experience. One thing is that they sat two other groups with us and I thought it was a bit crowding for us but I get that they need to get as many people in. Just would have been nice to not feel so cramped. The food was great though! My husband and I ordered the crispy crab wontons and Gyoza for our appetizer. Both were good! The wontons could have had more filling. Gyoza was perfect! For our main course we got the Sea and land for 2 which included Filet mignon, shrimp and chicken. The portions are HUGE, I honestly feel like ours could have fed 4 people. It was a lot for just two people but it tasted delicious! The meat was very juicy and had lots of flavor. My husband and I both felt the yum yum sauce was very thin and watered down though. Great spot for large groups! We had a party of 35 and booked in advance for an early Sunday night birthday dinner. They seated us right away in a private room, which was awesome. We had four hibachi chefs, and they were all hilarious and super interactive,great teamwork the entire time. Our server was also super friendly and gave me great sushi recommendations. I tried the Crazy Girl Roll, and it had the perfect crunch, plus you could tell the chef put effort into the presentation. Our group ordered a variety of hibachi dishes, and the portions were generous. If you're looking for good sushi and a fun hibachi experience, definitely check this place out! Plenty of parking since it's right off Thompson Lane, and there are lots of bathroom stalls. I wanted to share my recent experience at the restaurant, where I was informed that I could not be seated for hibachi because I was the only adult and one child, my two-year-old granddaughter. They mentioned that I could only be seated if I purchased hibachi for her as well. I expressed that I was willing to wait for others to arrive, but the answer was still no. As I was leaving, others were coming in. I asked, "Are you guys ordering hibachi?" The answer was yes. I've been a loyal customer since the restaurant opened, so this felt like a slap in the face. As I was leaving, I noticed others coming in and asked if they were ordering hibachi; they confirmed that they were. I've overlooked issues in the past, like burnt food and sending back dirty dishes, due to my loyalty, but this situation feels like it crossed a line. I mean who doesn't love dinner and a show? My family and I went to this location for a birthday dinner. The food was cooked well and the chef Wilson was the talk of the town. There were regulars at our table and they agreed that he is the best chef. The staff at Samurai's was very accommodating. Upon special request by the birthday girl, they allowed us to wait to be seated just so that our food could be cooked by Wilson. We also brought a cake which the restaurant stored in the fridge until we were finished eating. Once it was time for the cake to be cut the restaurant had a knife, lighter, candle, gong and birthday song on deck! I thought it was all very nice that they supply these items. Back to the food. I got the Habachi chicken. The dinner portion was served with salad that was a little over dressed and miso soup that was the perfect temperature. What a fun and enjoyable dinner at the hibachi table. My group of five ordered a mix of shrimp, chicken, and mahi mahi. The fresh cut veggies were plentiful as was the huge portion of fried rice. Then the meat and seafood were grilled right in front of us, with lots of showmanship. Half of the group had never done hibachi before and was totally delighted. The food here was amazing - the chicken was well cooked and had a really good taste, the rice was perfect and tasted freshly cooked, and the soup is fantastic. The service was prompt - considering it was exceptionally busy - and after a short wait we were seated and served. The staff was very friendly and professional. The ambiance sets this restaurant apart from many, it was clean and elegant. The decoration and design in the habachi side as well as the bar/waiting room was immaculate and eloquent. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. The food was almost inedible. Everything was either drowning in salt or greasy beyond belief. The meat was extremely fatty, and the chicken was so tough it was hard to chew. The rice had no flavor at all--it tasted like it was just scooped straight from a pot of plain boiled grains with zero seasoning or care. The combination of salty, fatty, and flavorless dishes made the entire meal disappointing from start to finish. For the prices they charge, I expected at least something fresh or balanced, but it honestly felt like no effort went into preparing the food. One of my favorite spots for Japanese cuisine. We came here for lunch, and they were pretty busy, but the service was pretty quick for how busy they were. Our server was very nice and friendly. She did a great job. I had the crunchy shrimp roll and it was perfect! At some places, the shrimp can be kind of gamey, but not here! I loved it here! I also had the steak hibachi. It was pretty good. No complaints about it at all. The fried rice on my plate was my favorite. The rice was very soft and flavorful. So this is not about the hibachi experience but about their amazing fried calamari. When I've been before I went for the hibachi experience and it was fine and the food was good. This time I was attending for a family member's birthday dinner. While we sit at the hibachi grill as some, we're ordering hibachi I decided I wanted to do something different. So I decided to order the fried calamari. It was truly, truly fried just right-nice and golden yellow and the calamari had great flavor flavor. I seriously thought about placing a second order to eat as I finish the first one. I also had the crab Rangoon and they were just OK. Nothing special about those. I would most definitely go back just to eat their calamari. The odd part and reason for the loss of one star is the extremely dark bathroom. I don't know if they were trying to create some kind of mood or whatever with the lighting in the bathroom, but it is not helpful. Trying to maneuver in and around. I've lived in the Boro for a few years now and finally decided to give this restaurant a try. My wife and I stopped in for an early Saturday dinner so there wasn't a long wait for the Hibachi side of the restaurant. Our waitress was spectacular and can't say enough good things about the young lady. My drink was always full and cold. She constantly ensured we we doing ok and not in a annoying way. The itamae was really entertaining and kept us laughing the entire time he cooked our meal. He was probably the funniest I've ever experienced in a while. As for the food it seemed to lack flavor and just tasted as if I cooked it with watered down ingredients. The steak was tender and the Salmon cooked perfectly to the way we asked. The fried rice again tasted like plain rice with a little bit of butter. The portions, well let's put it this way. This is the first Hibachi grill I've ever been too where we could eat it all, without taking something home. The potions were very small, they wanted to charge extra for broccoli. Overall it's kinda of a shame that everything was so good for them to give child like potions. Because we would of came back for sure vs driving 30-45 min like we normally do. But it looks like our favorite spot will remain our favorite and we will make the drive. But 3 stars go to the server and the itamae. read more

We went in on a Sunday around 6. There was a long line but they were waiting for the hibachi table. And we were able to sit pretty quickly since we sat a regular table. I do like that they skipped tables so we weren't too close to people. Ambiance was great specially for a hibachi restaurant. Everything we had was pretty tasty- I will say the himachi kama was a bit dry and a bit fishy. So was the Naruta roll, but I do like the fact that there wasn't a whole bunch of rice on it. Tried this place out the other day to pick up our order. We order the meal for 2 and they took forever to do the order like 45 minutes and it wasn't really that busy in there at the time. The fish didn't seem to be that good of quality or the chef gave us crappy pieces of sashimi cause that stuck together probably do to the extreme thiness. The miso soup and salad were good however the nigiri was just alright not much flavor. The roll was really good and was the best thing out of the whole meal. Would we come back to this place... I doubt it as there are better sushi places near buy that have better quality of fish. But might be willing to give this place another chance in person before the final verdict. read more

I went with my sister to get some usually good sushi. she got a tuna hand roll and a rainbow roll. everything was good until she had the tuna hand roll. she took a bite and instantly took it back out. according to her, it had a cleaner taste and left a chemical taste in her mouth. we tried to find the waitress but she was no where to be found. after getting another waitress to find her, she then went to try to dismiss it and make it seem like it was her fault but still took it off the bill. We didn't want this to happen to anyone else, so we took our concerns to the manager. Where he then went to dismiss our concerns and say that the fish was cut fresh every morning and how they have not had any complaints. Along with dismissing us by saying "thank you though." They were both very dismissive about our sushi tasting chemically. It was overall a very disappointing experience and we won't be returning if we can help it. read more

Customer Service makes or breaks restaurants I get that times are hard for restaurants. It's one of the reasons I've tried to order delivery, tip servers out of work through an app, and generally look to support the industry. There are also good days and bad days for all of us. When our party arrived at Samurai's, a place we've frequented in the past, things started off well enough. Dinner was fine, the chef was entertaining, only a few minor hiccups and confusion on orders. Overall a good evening celebrating a family birthday. And then... We help the server identify who should be on which individual checks (something he asked us about at the beginning so not a surprise). Then he takes at least 20 minutes to split the check including the two times he came back demanding we tell him who ordered what - both as a group and individually. Literally pointing fingers. Two sodas were apparently unaccounted for after he'd first requested our order info (he was our server as well, so this could have been avoided). Instead, it became THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. He said we ordered 7 sodas and he was only counting 5. Leaves. Comes back. Questions. Comes back. Hands the checks out for each but now with 1/7 of 2 sodas on each small groups' tab and grumbling to himself. It took me a second to take in the craziness - instead of leaving the two drinks off, he was adamantly recovering the $4.50, on a $450+ bill, that he would just decide to recoup it that way. What?!? It's not about the money. I'm confused about how it turned into being such a big deal to our server. Multiple times we answered his questions and restated that we'd all given him the right information - fully expecting them to see it as their mistake, or at the very least, not something they should burden a customer with. Any other day, this might have seemed fine. Or maybe had he come and said something about it before doing it so we could understand. Or maybe not. I've run experience teams and am adamant about good customer service. At this point, I was confused about why he was charging us for something we didn't have and making us wait so long to take care of it. I try to ask, he interrupts, I try to ask, he interrupts, I try to ask and point out the problem, he interrupts, I try to... he interrupts. Finally, I ask him to let me talk (takes 3 times to get him to do it). I look around and simply ask - everyone that had a soda raise your hand. 5 people raised their hands. He points to each and counts off while yelling "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, SEE, 5!" If you are confused and still reading, that's exactly what it felt like to us. We think he figured out he was wrong or really had miscounted. I'm not sure. He tries to get the checks so he can "re-run". I couldn't take it anymore and certainly couldn't wait another 20 minutes for this to end. We paid, including the full tip, and the drinks. I'm not even sure how many now. I stopped caring around his third rude interruption. Let me pay, and let me out. It's not about the money. Had they handled it in a way that seemed like good customer service or care or mutual respect would have been fine. We won't be back. Too many great places need our support. read more

This is my family's "go-to" hibachi and sushi place. My son and I absolutely love the fire crunch roll! One thing to note: they do not accept reservations. Everyone in your party must be present before they will seat you for hibachi. Weekends are SLAMMED. We arrived up at 5:00pm and still had to wait 45 minutes for hibachi for 6 people. Hibachi chefs are always fun! The last time we went, it was my son's birthday and they brought out the gong, sang happy birthday to him, and gave him free ice cream. I'm giving it 3 stars because the service can be really slow sometimes. And the hibachi food is average. My husband makes a killer chicken hibachi on his Blackstone at home, so it's hard to pay $30 per person when we go out. But, still always a good time when you have lots of company or a birthday to celebrate. read more

We were told there was a 5-10 minute wait, we received our buzzer and waited. We went in after about 10 minutes for the rude host to announce our wait had changed to 20-30 minutes. We went to check on how much longer after 30 minutes and we were told it was going to be an additional 30-40 minutes. People who came in after us were seated and our wait just continued to change with no valid reason. The host was rude and this is unacceptable to treat customers this way.
