We have been desperately searching for a new Hibachi place since moving back. So far haven't found one....until today! We actually liked this place. Clean, very friendly staff. Decent pricing. Got the filet/shrimp combo. Shrimp were very good. Filet is very small, but tasty. We aren't fans of these places pouring teriyaki on everything they cook, so we asked if we could forgo teriyaki and just have the soy sauce and whatever else they use. They happily accommodated our request. Only complaint I had was the cement floor is extremely slippery!!! Not sure how they clean it, but server did say be careful. Other than that....we will be back!!! Love this place! read more

Was in the mood for sushi and happened to be in the 'boro. The interior was decorated in moody red tones and offered hibachi dining or regular dining. We decided on regular dining and ordered a couple of appetizers, a bento box and an assortment of rolls presented in a sushi boat. The presentation of the main dishes was outstanding and our server was such a sweet lady. Next time I would like to try the hibachi side. read more

My favorite sushi spot in the boro. Service is always great and the ambiance is inviting.

A Must-Visit in Murfreesboro! If you are looking for incredible food and even better service, you have to check out XIAOS' Hibachi and Sushi. We walked in at 8:00 PM, just an hour before they closed at 9:00 PM, and I cannot rave enough about how they treated us. Even though we were the last ones in the building, the staff didn't rush us for a second. In fact, they treated us with the same energy and hospitality as if it were the middle of the day! The experience was flawless: * The Vibe: They gave us the full hibachi performance with all the "fixings"--no shortcuts just because it was late. * The Service: Our drinks were topped off constantly, and they were so prompt with the check while still making sure we truly enjoyed every bit of our meal. * The People: Just genuinely kind, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere is fantastic and the hospitality is top-tier. We will 100% be back! -Sawdust and Cedar, Lauryn read more

I work near this restaurant and today I was craving all things comforting. This was not it. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and crab rangoons. The Rangoon wrapper was like cardboard. For my meal: the chicken was cold and looked and tasted like it was pre-sliced and cooked and topped with cool to room temp slip that was the teriyaki sauce. It was not cooked in the sauce or marinated. It was drowning in this thick, mostly flavorless sauce. The ginger tasted old and there was something crunchy in my tuna. The rice was not sticky and had no flavor. I am disappointed since I came out hoping for a good meal. The pot stickers were okay but could use some sauce. I realized I have ordered delivery from here before and was not impressed then either. The service was good. The restaurant look is meh. read more

Whew! We ordered delivery today, and everything was truly terrible. Noodles were over cooked, hibachi chicken and shrimp lacked any flavor, the soup was bland, the crab rangoons were either old, stale, or just overcooked. This entire meal, minus the salad, was awful. I'm sick that we paid $140 for a meal that was nasty. Never again. read more

To start off the service was less than average, our waiter was slow to take my drink order, when refilling our drinks he gave us no ice, and he took entirely too long to bring out the food. I saw our sushi rolls sit on top of the sushi bar for about 10 minutes. Additionally our food came out backwards, we recieved our main entrees, then our sushi, then our appetizers. Managers brought us to go boxes and bussed our table. To be quite fair, all of this could've been forgiven if the food was at least a little good. The sushi was great and the soft shell tempura crab was good according to my partner, but the tempura udon tasted like nothingness with a little bit of salt, and my partner said the yaki noodle shrimp tasted undercooked with sour, unflavored noodles. Truly will never return here with my worst enemy. read more

I had the hibachi dinner at Xiaos', and although it was good, I was expecting more. The steak was good, but the fried rice and the veggies were bland. I had to drown most of my food in yum yum sauce to get some added flavor. I had heard a lot of good things about this place, so I plan on giving it another try. Hopefully it will be better next time! read more

Really enjoyed this plane and the open atmosphere. You have the hitachi tables and than you are able to see the folks cook and prepare the food for the non-hibachi tables. It loud and busy, everyone rushing around it's like your on Main Street in Japan... The service was spectacular, they are consistently tending to tour needs in a fashion that's not overwhelming. The food was good, the steak could be a little better seasoned but nothing I'd really complain about. Portions could be a tad larger in size but again I left full so not complaining there either. read more

We had an amazing time celebrating the hubby's birthday. The food was really good and the service was wonderful. Hubby enjoyed his sushi bowl, and I greatly enjoyed my steak and chicken hibachi. Make sure you check your receipt carefully and confirm the menu price matches what you're charged. I agreed to pay an extra $1 for having the rice on the outside of my avocado roll, but when I checked the receipt the roll itself was already listed at $1 more plus the $1 charge. That's an extra $2 total. If this is happening often, they're making extra money off customers without them realizing. Sad because I love the food but hate the dishonesty. read more

We have enjoyed our dine in experience here, but our takeout experience left me with food poisoning. Haven't been back. Thank goodness for Ascension telemedicine. Please ensure your staff wash their hands! Food Poisoning: There are different types of food poisoning. Norovirus is the most common and transmitted food poisoning. It is caused by LACK of hand washing, poor hygiene of those who handle food serving the general public. Update: In reply to the restaurant's response: Based upon my symptoms and the information given to the doctor who treated me, it was determined that someone had not washed their hands when preparing the food I consumed. Hand washing and exceptional hygiene is KEY to food safety. read more

This is one of my daughter's and wife's sushi places. So we decided to go there to celebrate a birthday. My wife and daughter ordered sushi and my daughter's boyfriend and I order from the hibachi menu. So when the hibachi dinners came out, the waitress said the sushi rolls would be coming out soon. So we waited with our food for a few minutes but still no sushi rolls. The waitress came by a few times and said she would bring out the rolls once they were ready. Since our food was getting cold, we started eating. So we finish our food before the sushi rolls came out. We figured the sushi rolls came out 15 to 20 minutes after the hibachi. For a $125 check, I expected to eat at the same time as my wife! Since the food was good, I'm not rating lower. read more

Best restaurant in Murfreesboro for hibachi or bento boxes! This restaurant isn't consistent though... because it just keeps getting better! After reopening their hibachi tables just recently, we were treated to an extra light show after our meal as seen in the picture below. The hibachi chicken is juicy (unlike many other hibachi restaurants that overcook the chicken), the servers are attentive and flexible with any special accommodations, and the owners are incredibly friendly and really do care about their customers. Such an amazing place! read more

Review is based on our take out experience. We ordered on NYE in the late afternoon. We wanted some good food to end the year but also be able to lounge around our house while enjoying it. Pleasantly surprised that our order would be ready in 20 mins which was how long it took me to get there, that worked out nicely. The restaurant smelled great and seemed like there were a fair amount of customers enjoying their experience. The rolls we got were very good. We got the bump roll, the crabby crab roll, and the sweet potato roll. We would definitely try this place again and do dine in as well next time. read more

The food and the service was great. As soon as we were seated we were waited on. We ordered quite a bit for three California roll, cream cheese crab roll, Connie salad, shrimp hibachi, chicken and shrimp hibachi and steak and shrimp. The wait for our food was maybe 10 minutes total. The speed and quality of the food was right on point and for a great price. We paid under $90 for everything. We will be back the next time we're in Murfreesboro. Thank you! read more

Located in the strip mall anchored by Sprouts, we stopped here for an early dinner recently and found the prices a bit high and large portions that justify the price. Service was fast as we were early. The broad menu contained a lot of choices from Bento boxes to Hibachi, sushi and sashimi, The atmosphere was casual and the restaurant is nicely furnished, a few steps up from a hole-in-the-wall. The pan-fried Gyoza were generic tasting but fresh, while the Tuna sashimi, two squares of fresh fish, were a bit cool and stiff but tasted good, especially with the soy/wasabi dip. And yes, the individual pieces were larger than I normally see. The Bento Box contained beef cooked to order, tempura shrimp and veggies, a California roll, along with rice, salad and soup. It was a lot of food. The bench seats were a bit thin and I could feel the diner in the next booth shift in their seat. The wait staff were patient and friendly and checked on us a few times. This is a decent place for a meal on the side of town that does not have a whole lot of choices. read more

I came here for lunch on a Sunday. It's a smaller restaurant. Has two grills for hibachi seating and the rest for regular dining. We ordered lunch hibachi chicken, lunch hibachi steak and shrimp, and the scorpion sushi roll. You get salad with the hibachi. The salad sauce is yummy, very garlicky. Hibachi was good although it could use a bit more flavor. The portions for hibachi lunch were decently sized. Yum yum sauce was decent (not as good as Koji's yum yum sauce). The sushi roll was good but not as spicy as it sounded. It consisted of fried soft shell crab, spicy tuna, cucumbers, jalapeño on top, and sauces. I also got the roll without cream cheese. I'd def come back to try more of the sushi. The owner is very nice. He checked on us in the beginning of the meal and towards the end to make sure we were ok. Also, it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. It wasn't busy either. That is the main downfall for me. read more

My youngest son and I tried Xiao's Hibachi And Sushi today and had a great time. The food was good, the service was excellent, and the place was clean The only draw back was that it took about 30 minutes for our hibachi chef to come out and start cooking. From start to finish we were there for about an hour and a half, which for a quick weekday lunch was a little longer than I had hoped. I did however think that it was very nice of the man who sat us at our table to thank us for coming. He said we know you have a lot of choices, thank you for choosing us. Sure, we all know this...but it was kind of like receiving a hand written card in the mail -- something you don't see very often. The prices were also very reasonable. I will definitely bring the family back here for lunch or dinner. It was a great experience! read more

Service good. Food good enough to go back for. Priced about the same as everywhere else

This is our go-to spot for sushi and hibachi. I have to admit the presentation is by far the best I've ever seen with how they plate the food. We are from Chicago and have some of the best sushi in the world albeit not close to an ocean. Lol. This is definitely four out of five stars. I really wish they had real lychees for their martinis however. read more

Was in Murfreesboro with my daughter & decided to try this restaurant after seeing the Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. We got there at noon and wanted sushi. We were greeted, asked what we wanted; hibachi or sushi & then immediately seated accordingly. Looking at the lunch menu, I was a bit confused on how to order, so our wait person explained it. We chose the lunch that included soup, salad & 3 different rolls (you select off the lunch list). We did have a regular menu which you can also order off of, but most importantly, it explains what each roll is. My daughter & I each ordered the 3 roll lunch. I misunderstood our wait person when she said it was 6 rolls each. I thought she meant 6 rolls per person, so we would get 2 of each type selected. No, it is 6 of each roll; 18 total for each of us!! Needless to say, it was a lot of food! We ate it all, but would probably order the 2 roll lunch next time. On to the food: miso soup was very good, salad with I believe yum yum sauce was also good. Then our plated sushi came out. Beautiful in presentation & so delicious!! I ordered the crabby crab, crunchy shrimp & salmon rolls. My daughter ordered the crunchy shrimp, spicy shrimp & mango rolls. We shared with each other so we could try the ones we didn't order the same of. Nothing disappointed! We enjoyed all of them. Our service was great, very friendly staff. Highly recommend & we will definitely be back! read more

Worst experience at restaurant in a long time. Waitress was really good, however, took an hour and a half to get chicken and rice while the restaurant was dead. That's almost impossible for it to take that long. Don't go here unless u order sushi cause u will be there for 2+ hours. read more

This is by far the best Japanese restaurant in Murfreesboro. I usually order the grilled chicken hibachi, and it is always very fresh, cooked perfectly, and delicious. Their white dipping sauce (Yum Yum sauce?) is one of the best versions of that sauce... and their ginger salad dressing is also great! I called in my order for carry out, and it was ready very quickly before I even got there. For only $8, this is a lunch that is always worth grabbing... and you can stop by Sprouts before you hit the road! Update: I came back again, and ate inside the restaurant. It was amazing, as usual.. and I added another picture of the Hibachi Chicken with Fried Rice. read more

Been to Xiaos several times since opening and enjoy the owners coming around and making sure everything is good. however, the past 2-3 times it's been borderline nauseating. We had their sushi on 6/25. They dumped their mayo sauce on all 3 of the rolls we selected. When brought up to the server they replied "Yeah, that is covered in Mayo way more than usual." Yet, didn't make it right. I'm never one to complain but that was one of the worst sushi experiences I've ever had. read more
