Bulgogi lunch special with fried rice (far side) spicy tuna rolls with panko
    Victor S.

This was my second visit, and was honestly even better than the first. This visit I had the Bulgogi lunch special. The Bulgogi had a twist, as it was served with mushrooms. A little different, but it paired looks very well. The portion of meat for some may seem small. But believe me the flavor goes a long way, and the total amount of food is worth every cent. Service was fast and friendly as their first visit. And the ambience is very relaxing and quiet. I will definitely return in the future.

I came here with very high expectations. I had heard really good things about it that I had totally imagined it completely differently. This place is great for lunch with girlfriends or a chill double date dinner. It's very ample, minimalist, and the staff is super sweet and helpful. Now the food! It's perfect! Fresh, tasty and good sized portions. They have a bar section and several options for sake. Their spicy edamame it's really good but also really spicy. Parking is shared with all the other businesses so it can be limited at times.

This place decent. The ginger salad was delicious. The chicken katsu was tasty, just didn't have enough flavor. The sushi was good but the crunchy stuff on the sushi was overload, too much. Really like the ambiance of this place and the staff., they were super friendly. Definitely want to come back and give it another shot.

Date Night Find. What a beautiful restaurant, super trendy for Murfreesboro! Fast friendly service. One of the best bibimbaps I have had. Definitely spring for the stone pot! It was a cool night so the warm green tea was soul warming.

I've been to the nashville location before and liked it but this was my first time at the new Murfreesboro location. I went a little later in the day on a Friday night. There was no wait. The place is very nice, open, spacious, and clean. We ordered the jalapeno bomb and crispy rice as apps. Both very enjoyable, especially the crispy rice. For rolls we got the Baja Fresh, tuna lover, smoky mountain, and shrimp supreme. The rolls were also very tasty. Can't wait to come back and try more things!

I've been to Maru Sushi & Grill several times now. I can confidently say that Murfreesboro should be lucky to have Maru because the sushi scene was pretty much nonexistent until Maru finally opened its doors. I can always count on Maru to deliver beautifully plated sushi that is fresh, well-balanced, and flavorful. I really appreciate that Maru offers not only the staple sushi/sushimi items that is on every sushi restaurant's menu, they also have some unique premium rolls. Some of my favorite rolls are hurricane, captain's secret, and the Baja Fresh. The Baja Fresh roll is a tuna-rich roll, but strikes a nice balance between the spiciness from the jalapeño and spicy tuna with the avocado and ponzu. The captain's secret roll is a bomb of flavors - everything from the rich eel sauce, the tangy ponzu sauce, creaminess of the avocado, and the marinated tuna blend well together. The only entrees I've had were the shrimp fried rice and the pork katsu. The fried rice was moist and had good ratio of shrimp to rice. The pork katsu was lightly breaded and tasted like any katsu I had before, but could definitely use more of that sauce. Service is always excellent when well-staffed. The server regularly checks on us and ensure everyone was satisfied. The tea and waters were routinely refilled and I was impressed with how fast the sushi usually comes out. Besides the quality sushi and service, I like the restaurant's Japandi's interior design. It's very clean and the lighting from the basket ceiling lamps and elegant sconces bring a nice warm ambience to the restaurant.

Bright, clean, and spacious dining room with a modern but comfortable feel. We were greeted warmly at the door and directed to our table and given a menu. Our waiter took our drink order and answered menu questions. We were ready to order when the drinks arrived. The food presentation was very appealing and the flavor met the expectations set by the appealing colorful dish. The GYOZA with pork really hit the spot and the SASHIMI CANAPÉS were very flavorful and the portion size was generous. For those who perhaps want a fully cooked meal the YAKI SOBA would be an excellent choice. Again the portion size was generous and the to-go box will be a good lunch. When we go again it will be difficult to not get the SASHIMI CANAPÉS and try some other most likely delicious entree.

The food was amazing !! I've been twice and I loved it every time. It is very bo-ho chic inside. The service is also very good. The waiters and waitresses were very kind and the food comes out so fast! I rate this a 5 out

Newly opened in Murfreesboro is Maru, a family owned Japanese Restaurant with some unusual offerings. I was seated quickly and Rita was my server who made me feel very welcome with her smile and happy personality. Sapporo on DRAFT...nice way to start an evening and I decided to go for some Sashimi and ordered Mackerel and Yellowtail. Loved the presentation and everything tasted so fresh. The Wasabi had one heck of a kick, the Yellowtail was very mild and firm, but the Mackerel was sooooo good. For dinner I finally decided on the Bulgogi which comes with a ginger salad and Miso Soup. Normally, the soup and salad you receive with an entrée lacks flavor, watery ginger dressing, weak Miso broth...but not here. The salad and ginger dressing is excellent and the Miso was some of the best I've had in a long time. The Bulgogi dish is impressive, the steak tender, onions and mushrooms nicely caramelized, and the Bulgogi sauce...perfect. It had a nice earthy flavor, not overly sweet, and I loved they serve sticky rice which is great for absorbing the sauce. I liked how the menu is varied and the dishes I saw come out of the kitchen looked great. Delicious food and excellent service...a nice addition to the Murfreesboro market.

The sushi was great even for just being opened for a couple days; I expected issues because most places have a ramp up time frame. The only issue I saw was that it wasn't that packed and the sushi took forever to get to the table. We finished our meal before the sushi came- took about 30-40 just to wait for a sushi plate. The other downside to being newly opened was the only alcohol was beer as they didn't hadn't gotten their liquor license at the time. The sushi presentation was awesome and the taste was just as good as it looked. The service was nice and attentive and was apologetic for the delay which was nice to know she just didn't ignore the fact it was delayed. It is a pretty minimalist trendy sushi bar and seems like it will likely be a hit here. I will be going back and giving it another chance because the sushi was good and worth the trip. Everyone who likes sushi should definitely give it a try!

Trying new places in Murfreesboro is always a nice options to pick. The place was brand new modern clean inside. My dining experience was average. The appetizers were not spectacular kinda lukewarm. It was ok. My Baja rolls were pretty decent. Spouse had the bulgogi come with soup and salad. Enough for him to finish.

Anyone who has eaten here enough knows the game: the more pieces you order, the smaller each piece mysteriously becomes. Fine--it's their restaurant. What wasn't fine was having a man who appeared to be the owner/manager come to our table and tell us, "We can't serve you more fish." When I pointed out there is no limit listed anywhere on the menu, his response was: "If we can't make any dollars from you, we don't need you to come." Imagine running an all-you-can-eat restaurant and openly telling paying customers they're no longer welcome because they're eating too much. If your business model depends on shrinking the sushi and cutting people off when they actually use the all-you-can-eat menu, maybe don't call it all-you-can-eat. And if you can't handle customers eating what they paid for, then maybe you're not cut out to run an all-you-can-eat restaurant in the first place. Don't worry--I got the message. I won't be back.

They really do have it decorated with a rock and roll theme which is nice. The music was just a tad bit too loud for my liking but that's just personal preference. The service was ok. Our waitress was attentive during our visit. Her vibe was just a bit off though, kind of awkward but it didn't really bother me. The reason for the one star is the food. My husband and I both love crab Rangoon, we always get it when we see it on a menu. Unfortunately theirs is mostly the breading and barely any filling. There's only a tiny bit at the center of the wonton. I ordered their volcano roll and honestly it may be one of the worst sushi rolls I've ever tried. The temperature was very off-putting, it was like a weird Luke warm. Usually I'm used to rolls either being cold or hot if they're deep fried. The menu says the roll is fried but I guess they just mean the topping is fried and it's not the whole roll deep fried. I don't think anyone in my party really enjoyed their meals either. We all basically agreed we would not be back.

We asked to be seated at a table. I asked for the Habachi chicken with noodles instead of rice and vegetables. Our order was taken quickly and all of our questions answered. The salad came out soon after but we didn't receive soup. Not sure if that's part of the lunch menu or not but I've always gotten soup and salad at previous visits. When the Habachi chicken and noodles came out it looked extremely bare. The noodles looked and tasted like they were just boiled and smothered in sauce, not cooked or marinated on the Habachi grill. The same went for the vegetables. There was also so salt or pepper in sight. The chicken tasted good but the rest of the meal didn't complement it well. I just think it's kind of sad that it seems like I have to sit and watch them cook the food to make sure it's cooked appropriately and that the same quality standard is not coming from the back kitchen.
