Tried Rock N Roll Sushi for the first time yesterday and unfortunately was not impressed. First off, I will say the ambience of the place is pretty cool. They really do have it decorated with a rock and roll theme which is nice. The music was just a tad bit too loud for my liking but that's just personal preference. The service was ok. Our waitress was attentive during our visit. Her vibe was just a bit off though, kind of awkward but it didn't really bother me. The reason for the one star is the food. My husband and I both love crab Rangoon, we always get it when we see it on a menu. Unfortunately theirs is mostly the breading and barely any filling. There's only a tiny bit at the center of the wonton. I ordered their volcano roll and honestly it may be one of the worst sushi rolls I've ever tried. The temperature was very off-putting, it was like a weird Luke warm. Usually I'm used to rolls either being cold or hot if they're deep fried. The menu says the roll is fried but I guess they just mean the topping is fried and it's not the whole roll deep fried. I don't think anyone in my party really enjoyed their meals either. We all basically agreed we would not be back. read more

Walked in at about 315 pm. Ordered edamame FOUR times. Three parties walked in and were served edamame. Then, the servers tell us that they're out of edamame. Another party walks in and they get served edamame... What the actual heck?! So bizarre to not allow our party to have any. Over all, the food we were allowed to eat was ok. I ordered the hibachi dinner and didn't get the sides. Kids were happy. Chill atmosphere. read more

Tonight's takeout was truly some of the best sushi I've had in a while. The Tourbus and Punk Rock absolutely excellent. The soup is some of the best miso in the Boro I would just go here to get a big soup. I have still never been to to the actual restaurant to eat, but they are amazing to order take out from. The Headbanger Shrimp and the Wontons will also make you sing!! Love this place. Kudos for an amazing job. read more

This place is a whole VIBE. From the time you enter it feels like you are entering a rock and roll arena. The restaurant is booming with so many classic rock hits along with the visuals to accompany. Even the bathroom is wow! My kids were star struck at how nice the bathrooms were. After admiring the restaurant, I ordered some food. Here's what I ordered: -filet and shrimp hibachi: OMG SO GOOD. My food was packaged in different tiny containers so I had to put it together myself. But omg the rice itself was phenomenal. I would definitely order just the rice and eat it... and I'm not typically a fried rice gal. The steak I ordered medium and it literally melted in my mouth! The sauce it's cooked in was great too. The veggies! Oh me oh my! Yes! Not too soggy and not too crunchy. Just right. The meal comes with either a soup or salad but I ordered both. They make their own ginger dressing for the salad and WOW. Never tasted a ginger dressing so delicious. Haven't tried the soup yet because it was PIPING hot and I couldn't stop eating everything else lol. Overall fantastic and I plan to be back soon! I have been to rock 'n' roll sushi several times. I have enjoyed my sushi rolls in the past. today, I did not have a pleasant experience. I watched a young lady prepare my sushi roll and she placed something in the oven, laid the sushi flat and just dumped some sort of crab stuff on it. It didn't look or taste like a sushi I have had in the past. They need to return to the original way of making rolls. read more

My own disclaimer I don't know much about sushi so what I do get has to be cooked (steamed/fried/baked). So overall I really enjoyed it and the atmosphere is not bad. I personally could have used less volume on the music so I could talk more. It was a Saturday afternoon (lunchtime) and they weren't super busy which is fine by me as long as I see some activity. Seated right away. I previewed the menu before my visit so I knew exactly what I wanted when our server came. We placed our order for drinks, appetizers and our food at the same time. Appetizers were Headbanger shrimp and the Wontons. Both were really good. Wontons were a little bit too crispy for my liking but it was not my appetizer it was ordered by someone else in my party. I could have easily eaten three orders of the headbanger shrimp. They were breaded and fried very nicely then sauced. My entrees were Good Times and Thriller. Again, both were really good. Good times was a cool sushi so not served warm. Had good flavor but I did not enjoy it as much as Thriller. Thriller was amazing! For that one, I could have done without the baked crab meat and crispy's on top because the sushi alone was very good. It was a warm sushi because it was fried--very nicely fried with a nice crisp and full of flavor. I had absolutely no leftovers. I absolutely plan to return again and try more options. Pretty easy location to access depending on the time of day and events in the area. It can easily get busy in the parking lot because of other businesses but certainly accessible. read more

My daughter and I drove from Cookeville ( about an hour and a half away) to eat here. We have a Rock and Roll Sushi opening in Cookeville Oct. 7th. So we wanted to try it out and also my daughter put in an application to work there. I am new to Sushi but my daughter loves it. We both loved our experience at Rock and Roll Sushi. The waitress was very helpful and suggested if we wanted an appetizer to get the sampler. We did and it was fantastic. My daughter ordered the Axle Roll and I got the VIP roll. We both enjoyed what we got and made us look forward to Oct. 7th. We can't wait. read more

3.5 New sushi spot for the Blackman side of Murfreesboro. They have dinner hours only currently opening at 4pm. I did online take out the way to go if your still trying to avoid crowds. Down to the foods we ordered sushi. Got the green room sushi the most expensive out of our order and it was 6rolls and sub par OK. For the price I expected at least 8 rolls for it to be worth it. Got other basic sushi's and it was decent. Worth a try for a newly open place. read more

Tried this place out today, got some miso soup, yellowtail negiri, eel roll, spicy tun roll, reggae roll and prima donna roll. Everything was really good , big rolls and fast service. Plenty of parking, even though it is in a crowded area. Best roll by far was the reggae, and loved the miso soup lots of flavor. Great atmosphere with guitars on the wall, good music and meanurs have album covers on the front. We will definitely be coming back here again. read more

We love sushi, Rock and drinks - especially on a Friday night after a long week. We had a nice booth and heard a couple of good songs, but many were songs or artists we were not familiar. Seemed like a lot of B listers, but overall a great attempt at a good atmosphere. The cocktails took forever to get each time we ordered and were very watered down. Shrimp appetizer was drowning in a sweet thick sauce. Was supposed to be like Bang Bang Shrimp but missed the mark. The sushi was mediocre, but pricey. The VIP roll had some weird sweet sauce to it, as did the other role we had. The volcano roll was pretty good though and was my favorite. We visited this restaurant with high hopes, but unfortunately it was a bit underwhelming. We probably won't return. 2.5 stars read more

This place is located in a plaza, and I was afraid we would have a hard time finding a parking spot, but we didn't at all. We walked in and got seated right away. We got a table in the bar area. The decor was really cool. There were guitars on the wall. I really liked the decor. I felt that it really went with its name. It looked pretty clean too. Drink wise: there were plenty to choose from. There were different beers on draft and I also asked for Hot sake, and they had it! Food wise: I tried the Jailhouse roll. I wasn't disappointed at all. I love deep fried rolls. My Jailhouse roll was topped with some Cajun crawfish. The crawfish had a really good seasoning to it. I also tried the lobster and filet mignon. My lobster tail was slightly warm. My steak was also slightly warm. My food didn't come out hot. As far as the flavor goes, the seasoning was pretty ok on the steak and lobster tail. The veggies were my favorite thing on the plate. The fried rice wasn't bad. The fried rice was more so on the sweet side. They were out of miso soup I'm guessing because my meal didn't come out with any miso soup. It only came out with their salad. In all, I didn't have a bad experience. read more

We have eaten here many times before and the food is really good. However, the service has slowly gotten worse over time. Tonight was the pinnacle of bad service. We went to get an early dinner. We walked and were told we could sit anywhere with menus. So we sat down, and began looking at the menus. Nobody came to our table to greet us or take drink orders. Two more tables came in well after us, and waiters immediately went over and greeted them and took drink orders. We were at the table for about 15 minutes and still nobody spoke to us. I was thinking gimmick, but man was I wrong!!! Upon entry, we were greeted and seated immediately. Server was a few steps behind, welcomed us, and took our drink order. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The menu.. holy Mackerel! (Pun intended) amazing fusion selections, of course the usuals, and some really exciting things on there that I have never seen and I have enjoyed sushi all over the US for over 25 years! The sushi was extremely fresh, and the portions were huge! If you go hungry, order a roll, see how huge it is, then order your meal, lol I'm telling you, see the pics, I'm a big eater, and I barely finished! One happy guy here! Not worth it! Over priced, not that good and NO masks worn by employees. To start our experience off, we walked in to all the employees piled up in the back talking. One server finally came up and told us to sit where we'd like after the sign said wait to be seated. She was not wearing a mask. Second, our server was so kind, but sat down next to us and would get super close to us without a mask, making us extremely uncomfortable. Third, one of the rolls we got, the Boston Roll, was messed up 3 times and was still not corrected after the 3rd time. On our checks, we were charged for items we never asked for or received. The Stage Divers are basically large chicken nuggets. You're kids will love them, but overall wayyy overrated. The spicy salmon roll is extremely not worth it. The super crunch roll is decent and yummy, but still not worth the price. We also purchased a miso soup and never received it. When it comes to COVID precautions - no employee is wearing a mask, there is no social distancing and from what I saw, they are not cleaning the tables and booths between customers, just wiping them off with a dry rag. read more

This place is amazing!! I love the quality of the sushi, the great atmosphere and the service! If you are looking for a fun and relaxed atmosphere this is the place to be. Since I moved to TN from CA 6 years ago I have struggled finding an sushi restaurant that is not a Thai restaurant or a snobby upscale place that overcharges. Rock n Roll sushi is the best of both worlds. Anytime I am in Murfreesboro I make it a point to stop here whether I am hungry or not (great to go service too). My favorite is the salmon sashimi & nigiri. The variety of rolls is fantastic too! Absolutely love. read more

If you like all your sushi cooked. This is the place. Entire menu starts with deep fried something and krab. I came to have raw fish.. there are only 4 options for that.. "red tuna" which the server didn't know what it was. I'm thinking escolar. It was a white color. It took 45 minutes to get 4 pieces of sushi. I ordered house sake and it tasted off.... There was an open pitcher in the beer fridge with no cellophane on top. She poured a bottle and nuked it in the microwave. Took me a while before I realized where my sake came from. Told the manager.. no comp or apology. My actual sushi was quite good. It looked like a one armed man cut it with a chainsaw. This is why I gave 2 stars. If you like sushi and/or rock n roll (or like a fun atmosphere), then you should come here. I had the tuna roll, some yellowtail nigiri, and the Tour Bus roll when I came in, and all were delicious. The guitars and not-overpowering hair band music, with accompanying music videos, just added to the cool factor. Service was great, as my waiter was Johnny-on-the-spot with my drinks, food, and making sure all my needs were met. If you don't come and like this restaurant, then you're lame.
