Love this place! Very fast friendly service. This place is always BUSY! But they will fly through some orders in NO time! I order the #5 steak and mushroom but without the carrots with extra rice! The carrots are great says my friends and husband but they are just not MY personal preference. I am addicted to their Yum Yum dipping sauce! Strongly recommend! read more

If you are wanting a quick healthy meal in murfreesboro be sure to go here. One of my families favorite take home meals

Very tasty food. Their sauce is do good, especially with the hibachi shrimp. Their beef is tender never enough sauce though. Always request more sauce on the side. Their rice can be hit or miss as in too dry or possibly sat around too long. Overall pretty good for the price you pay. read more

Very helpful and engaging staff Food is good but not great Overall though if you are looking for a quick decent Asian restaurant without waiting for a table and spending large dollars Tia will suffice read more

The customer service was horrible. We placed a take out order online and came inside to pick it up. I walked to the counter and there were two young girls and one young boy, I said that I had a take out order and one of them found my ticket and said that they were getting it ready. All three of them saw me walk to the nearest table to sit and wait. They continued to chat and never let me know that my order was ready. After waiting nearly 15 minutes my husband went to go ask about it and they handed the bag to him. My food was not ready when I got there, but cold by the time I ate it. I guess the expectation was that I should be asking every two minutes if my order is ready, when my expectation was that since three employees heard me ask the first time that one of them would let me know when it was done. read more

Koji Express Japanese Grill - Steak was overcooked but overall delicious... - Japanese Near Me - Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Want teppanyaki / hibachi but don't want to sit through a show and wanna roll through a drive thru? Koji is your place. Very simple menu, but very filling. I always get the #8 steak and chicken, but their scallops are great too. This place is a go to for comfort food. read more

I rely on koji to save me when I'm hungry and don't want to cook. I've only ever used the drive thru, which is always speedy. My favorite dish is the chicken and steak combo, even though the steak is usually a bit over cooked. The carrots are like dessert because they're so soft and sweet. I do wish there were more mushrooms and broccoli, but adding them is an extra $3.50. For veggies! No thanks. Overall, their food is great for fast hibachi. Koji Express Japanese Grill - Steak and Chicken - Japanese Near Me - Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Aha, a new quick-service asian restaurant opened up on my side of town in the old Church's Chicken building. There were two tiers of plates, single-item (shrimp, chicken, beef etc) and combo items (shrimp/beef, scallop/beef etc). Both plates also come with flavorful rice and a vegetable (tonite it was sweet carrots). Prices ranged from just over $5 to $10 for the single meat dishes and $8-$14 for the double meat dishes. Kim, our cashier, was super nice and chatted with us as we finished our meal. Everyone seemed very friendly and I will be back to try some other combinations. The portions were generous and I felt like it was worth the increased price over typical fast food because of the serving size and the higher quality of the food. read more

Always good food and fast service! We try to eat here at least once a week. Love the carrots!

My goodness I'm glad I stopped here!! I have never in my life tasted a sweet carrot so good! What a treat!! On top of that, the rice, broccoli, and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The steak was seasoned incredibly well. The yum yum sauce was good, but didn't have too much flavor. The scallops were a bit bland. A+ for the steak, shrimp, mushrooms, and broccoli, and B- for the scallop meal. I'll definitely visit here again!! Good prices, big portions, great hibachi taste! read more

Came here to pick up a delivery for a 3rd party platform. Picked my food up, that was given to my by their employee, in my car at the turn to leave, and some employee chases me to my car accusing me of theft. Wow, real professional to your 3rd party platforms. Would not recommend. read more

When in a hurry Koji Express is great for that Japanese fix. I love their sweet carrots that come as a free side with your entree. The # 11 is my favorite: Shrimp and Chicken with mushrooms and broccoli. I have to admit however that I am kind of a novice here. The # 11 is all that I have ever tried. I found what I like, and have stuck with it. read more

I guess the Koji on Franklin Road has spoiled me. I ordered my usual Steak Hibachi with mushrooms sub zucchini and onions instead of carrots. The amount of veggies I got was so disappointing. I got like 5 mushrooms and 6 zucchini slices. I tried them again thinking it was a fluke but the same thing happened again! read more

Horrible gave me my own missing dog on a plate looking at me horrible, hair was still on and was mean looking, will never eat at this place, service was all Chinese people so they didn't speak regularl so I had to bring my Asian friend with mean ji-li read more

After a long day of balling out on the basketball courts I found myself very hungry. I walked to the dining hall but it was closed!!! In the midst of the dark skies of my hunger there was a beam of light, Koji Express Japanese Grill. It was very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get( which is a very good portion). I went through the drive through and it was very fast and easy. I guess u could call the Koji sauce Ray Rice because it HIT THE SPOT! read more

At first I was kind of weary of this place, it's basically fast hibachi, but never judge a book by its cover is a true statement. I came on a Saturday night at 630, bad timing on my part because it was so busy, even the drive thru had 7 cars waiting. Waited at 15 minutes but it was worth the wait. I got the chicken and shrimp with mushrooms, broccoli, and the sweet carrots, side fried rice, and extra sauce and that came up to be about $16. Very cheap for the load of food they give you! The side order of rice was piled high, literally leaving no extra space in that to-go box. I shared the food with my mom and even had left overs for lunch for her and I. And the main course was piled high too. Everything was great, but I wish the rice had a little more flavor, I guess that's where the shrimp sauce comes in. Definitely coming back! read more

FAST, FRESH, DELICIOUS! What more could you ask for? We got our HUGE portions insanely quick, served with a big thing of yum yum sauce on the side. I love this place!! The food here is great, but I wont be returning. The counter staff was rude, flippant, and not interested in providing service. I asked for the mushrooms in a dish to be served on the side (for a kid) and was told i could get the mushrooms with the meal or not. They refused to place the item in a small bowl, were unwilling to, and then wanted to charge me 2.79 extra for a side of mushrooms to add to the meal I was going to eat. The food here is good, but I will not be returning due to the flippant attitude of the female millenial at the counter. read more

Delicious for the Price. I can literally go to a Japanese Hibachi restaurant and spend $20 more for the same meal (Steak and Scallops) that I can buy from Koji without having to wait, and the best part is.......They almost taste the same. Yes, the hibachi has an experience that you can't get from a fast food joint, but for someone who works and just has a taste for some good Japanese food, This place takes the win. Oh! Did I mention that when you are in drive thru, they are FAST..... read more

I was craving Asian food for lunch so I was reading the reviews on yelp and decided to give this place a try. You can either drive thru or go inside and order and eat there. The concept at this place is fairly new to me, I'm from CA and have never really seen a place like this. I'm use to places like Benihana's were you sit down and they cook everything for you. This place is a faster version of it. They have a good selection of plates and pictures for you to see if you can't really decide. I'm a visual person, so I was happy to see the pictures on the menu above the cashier. Their menu is very simple, so it made it a lot easier to choose. - Hibachi steak and chicken served with rice and mixed vegetables - the steak and chicken was cooked perfectly and the flavor was absolutely great. They had a side of ginger lemon type of sauce and it added a really good flavor to the dish. I used that sauce to dip my vegetables in. The onions, zucchini, mushrooms and broccoli was cooked perfectly. I'm usually not a fan of carrots, but they added these carrots on the side that was something that I have never tasted before. The carrots were so sweet and tender and I could have eaten that as my dessert. Overall I like this concept, it's quick service and good food. It looks like family owned so their hospitality is impeccable. Thanks Koji, I'm a big fan! I will come back to visit again when I'm in town. read more

Really tasty dinner. You pay typically $12-16 total, after tax and with a drink. There's a student discount too if you have your ID. I got the teriyaki chicken and my friend got the teriyaki steak, both were super good. Great food, excellent service, and good pricing. Me and my family love to eat Koji, we definitely recommend

This place always has a line so I thought I would try it again since it was bland no flavor the 1st time around so I got I. Line did my order and when they passed me my food it smelled burnt so he was like no it's not just fresh off the grill so when I got it home the broccoli was black maybe four shrimps barely. Chicken so for twelve dollars I will not be eating there again y'all can have it not worth the wait they are to overwhelmed with customers that they mess up the food read more

The food was amazing. Got it with the drive though and they didn't give me forks or napkins in the bad.

Waited over hour and 10 mins for a simple steak and shrimp dinner. I wouldn't of left had I not already paid.... worst service ever!!

I liked it ok. It is fast and convenient and has friendly service. I did NOT like the strange carrots on the side so get zucchini and onions instead. It is relatively inexpensive too. For more authentic Japanese food go to AYA just down the street but be warned AYA is NOT fast nor inexpensive. But very good ! read more

People line up for this place all the time, and the parking lot is packed. It is a small shack and I decided to finally check it out. Good food, reasonable price. From the clientele and previous comments, this appears to be popular with the MTSU crowd. Apparently, the student discount is significant. Previous posts slammed these folks for the food being overly salty and of all things, the carrots got bad reviews. Why carrots would be the subject of so many reviews, I'll never know. The carrots are served on the side. I did not experience problems with either of these issues. Service is FAST. I spent less time waiting for my dine-in meal than I have at many major fast food chains who cook "to order". The cooks deserve kudos. They work their butts off. Spatulas on the hibachi were chattering the entire time I was there. I was about confused about what to do at the end of the meal. You get a REAL plate, and there was no obvious place to bus your own table. They bus just fine. One serving is enough for two people. As a diabetic, I left most of the rice and some of the sides. Prices are not a bargain, but are acceptable. I had the shrimp and steak meal. The shrimp were predictably small to medium, pre-cooked and obviously previously frozen. The steak had to be pre-cooked and warmed to serve. Not tender, but not tough and good flavor. All the vegetables added to the dish were fresh. If I went again, I would order the vegetable dish for economy and fresher taste. read more
