Uh hello Tucson this place is good! I mean really good not only is it a cool place but it is delicious. The wine is on par and the coffee is oh so good. The food is delightful and for this gal who went vegan drumroll.....they have food that I can eat! That is tasteful and ah-mazing. My girlfriend had the fish and she was delighted how it was perfectly cooked. May I be honest though big servings good golly, I could've ate half and Yelpers this place is well deserving of the prices they charge. Whether you sit outside or in you will be pleased. I will definitely be back! Yummilicious! read more

The Cup Cafe is truly my favorite restaurant in all of Tucson. I think it fits everything that I am looking for. The environment is casual, so you do not need to feel like you have to be wearing a suit and tie when you come here, however the food you receive IS something you could expect from a high end restaurant. I am the biggest fan of the chicken and gnocchi, it is probably one of their best meals.I'd say their meals are just the right size, they are filling, but not overwhelming - overall a very well balanced plate. All their desserts are top notch, in particular, their carrot cake is out of this world. Their prices are extremely doable for your average "going out to dinner" scenario. My only criticism towards the restaurant is that it is a bit older so it would be awesome to see it completely renovated. I mean I really would say that the decor in the restaurant does NOT do the food justice. This restaurant IS located in an older hotel so I understand that it is not a brand new spot. I've come to Cup Cafe in big groups, for going away parties, for birthday celebrations, and just with my husband, it is really great for all sorts of scenarios if you're looking to stay on the casual end. LOVE LOVE LOVE CUP CAFE! read more

The food was just average... the place was very dirty and the seating was cramped! I love the history of the place, but it needs to be cleaned and tables and chairs need to be repaired.... read more

Amazing spot for dessert. Their Tres Leches is the best I've ever had! Great place to meet friends or a date night. Very lively and fun atmosphere. read more

This is my favourite place to eat breakfast in the world. It's so hearty and satisfying, and the Bloody Mary bar on Sunday is a must try!

Man oh man my favorite place for breakfast!!!! I LOVE THEIR COFFEE and they're awesome everytime. Food is the "gunpowder" is no longer on the menu but it's soooo good and if you ask they'll still make it!!! Horizo, potatoes peppers tortilla egg and more!!! read more

Came for bloody Mary's and they were good, not spectacular but good. Good flavor if u like poblano hot sauce. Haven't tried the food but it looks good. read more

The breakfast food was amazing everyone at my table loved what they ordered. The server was very attentive and friendly and to top everything off everything is at a reasonable price. I will be coming here again very soon and recommend it to anyone who loves brunch food. read more

Eh, been here few times. and I used to like it. But the combination of the slow service, rude server and degrading desserts keeps me from going back. Cup no more! read more

Great breakfast and lunch! Beautiful, well prepared food. Whoever is cooking certainly knows what they're doing.

The few vegan options they have are outstanding for Tucson. Cauliflower tacos are flavorful if a bit too oily. Queer steer made vegan is delicious. Breakfast plate with vegan sausage used to always please but lately is lacking in flavor.... Servers have been very knowledgeable about what is and isn't available as vegan on their menu and have also been very accommodating. BLOODY MARY BAR WITH VEGAN OPTIONS on SUNDAY!!! YES They have vegan worcestershire sauce! read more

The Cup never fails to fulfill my brunch dreams with their tofu scramble, lattes, and breakfast cocktails! Dining inside or al fresco is always a treat, and I appreciate the dog friendliness on the patio. They recently updated the menu and there is now the vegan Beyond Burger available for lunch. I've made this burger for myself before a couple times and wasn't nearly as impressed as I was when I ate it at The Cup. There was a nice char on the outside of the burger which really boosted the flavor. My carnivorous boyfriend commented he'd choose the Beyond Burger they make over a meat burger! PS I humbly volunteer as tribute for testing all future vegan meal candidates. read more

Our food runner maddi with a delightful attitude really makes the experience worth coming back

i traveled all the way across america and was recommended to the cup cafe.and,if im ever out there again,i will certainly go to the cup cafe again!it has a nice, ambient setting.you can eat inside or out in a pleasent part of town away from the hustle and bustle of the busier part of the city. i recommend the eggs in hell for breakfast.it was like a burrito with eggs, hot sauce, peppers and more.it was spicey but it wasnt over done.and for after dinner, there was a very very generous sized ice cream coffee to drink.just have plans because thats A LOT of caffienne to take in.well, maybe not now in this age of energy drinks. the people in the morning were pretty fast.the dinner people werent super quick but the place was packed no doubt because of thier awesomeness!i totaly recommend this place to everyone anywhere. read more

I stayed in Tucson over the holiday weekend with my husband and we ventured into town to check this out after reading the good reviews at Yelp and seeing that the menu had veg-friendly items, which is what I am always on the lookout for. I got the tofu scramble and loved it. Such great flavor, you can't actually tell you are eating tofu. The faux-sausage patties were awesome too! I'm impressed. The atmosphere is great and the service excellent. I will be back next time I visit Tucson. read more

Any other time I have been here it was awesome. Except right now. I'm sitting in here as I right this because things were crazy. I ordered a vanilla late and received a plain late, no big deal. So when I asked the waitress about it she said she would add more vanilla and kinda threw a temper tantrum. She then brought back my old late and a side of vanilla and said I could make it. I was shocked and told her I wanted a new one. I thought she was going to cry. I then received one that had sooooo much vanilla syrup in it that I took a whole mouthful of syrup and started coughing violently. Her name was Erin read more

Rachel, Carlin Ross and Lauren took great care of our crazy vegan and gluten free needs!

Definitely one of my absolute favorite places in Tucson. The cup is the perfect way to start or end your day. For breakfast I highly recommend ordering the Gunpowder, they have perfected turkey chorizo! They are the only place I've been that offers turkey chorizo which makes me extremely happy. And what you've heard about the bloody mary's is true, they are the absolute best in Tucson! With that being said one of their greatest triumphs in my opinion is the drunken fish tacos, they are absolutely amazing and they are included in happy hour which is awesome, I recommend trying them at least once! The only reason why I didn't give five stars is because of the disappointing service I've had the last couple of visits I had. One particular visit I took a fairly large group of friends out for a birthday dinner and our waiter Greg only visited the table once, yet he was extremely attentive to the table seated next to us. It felt like we were a complete nuance to him. The whole visit we felt rushed and uncomfortable , we were not served any refills just the original at seating, our dinner, and then the check. I thought maybe it was just something about that night, but on my most recent visit this past Saturday I brought a friend who was visiting from out of town. We were sat in Greg's section, and once again to my dismay the service was horrendous. Once again he was being attentive to his other tables while my friend and I sat there for 10 minutes waiting to order a drink. In that time the other tables had their drinks and were served their complementary bread. By the time he decided to come and take our drink order we were prepared to order our entrees. Our drinks came another 10 minutes later, then our food came and we asked about the bread which he replied "oh you wanted bread?" really?! you served it to all your other tables why would you feel like neglecting our table. Every time I've dined at the Cup the service has been outstanding, but the last two visits have definitely tainted my view on the cup. I will be back but I'll make sure not to be seated in that waiters section. read more

Not enough bang for he $$. Came here for brunch and mimosas with a friend, and although the food was ok and the mimosas potent, I'm giving it three stars because there are other brunch spots that did it better for less $. I love hotel Congress, but will not be returning here for brunch! read more

5 stars for ambiance!!! amazing cocktails!! great service!! make a reservation!!! delicious food!! great location!!!

On a Spring day, during jury duty, I stopped for a quick lunch. I've been here many times over the years, and this was another great experience. Lunch on the patio, not many people around, delicious food, good service.... ah.... read more

BREAKFAST! quite a good b'fast for (gasp!) $7! I had eggs and polenta in a good sauce. Good tea (I'm not a coffee guy, but my friend said it was good) and I kept thinking how this same food would be $12.95 in SF. We went on a weekday morning and sat down right away. My Tusconian friends said there is a ridiculous wait on weekends, tho. I'm not sure if I would wait for more than 20 minutes for this particular experience, expecially if I was drowsy, hungover, and hungry. The old Hotel building is very cool, embellished with Native-American- meets-Wild-West decor and is adjacent to the busy train station. I like trains. The cafe space was nice: light and airy with some architecty modern touches, good and not-too-intrusive music and a penny-paved floor! The too too tatooed rock-and-roll dude staff wore black T-shirts (of course) and those hip-slung "I have no butt!" skinny jeans, but they were also really nice and friendly, so no complaints. I would suspect that working here taps you into the local music scene, much of which happens in the club across the lobby. Tatoos. WTF? When are they going to go the way of cargo pants and Timbuktu messenger bags? I guess they have. Is all this "hipness" as institutionalized as Starbucks these days, or am I just a jaded San Franciscan? Whatever. If I was a local, I would be a regular at the Cup. read more

upon our return to LA from NO via amtrak, tucson was a stop along the way. it was about a 1.5 hour layover. into the unfamiliar, we explored lay of the land and what oldtown tucson, home of university of arizona, had to offer. it so happened to be a friday evening too, so folks were out and about. mostly young college cats. coming out of the train station there was a bar busting live jazz. we stopped to feel the vibe, pondered getting a drink, but not. we ended up at the cup cafe. entered the doors and noticed every table was occupied. the hostess, friendly in demeanor, asked us "would you mind a table outside?" "not at all.." i replied (with a wink) and followed her lead to the table outside. we weren't too hungry as it wasn't too long that we had picked up dinner in houston, tx. we just ordered dessert, coffee, tea, and a martini. i forget what kinda chocolate cake we ordered, but it was tasty. hella rich tho where it sticks to the roof of your mouth and teeth. my coffee helped with melting all that away. coffee was strong and smooth upon sip. i despise coffee that has been burning on the stove untouched. we also ordered a slice of mousse cake. it was ok as i'm not into mousse or whip cream much. i tasted the cake part. sweet but not overdone. we asked our waiter to snap a photo of us. he was cool enough to improvise by pulling up a chair and standing on it in order to get the 4 of us in the photo. read more

Will I be back? Yes or No? No, not anytime soon. I ordered dessert from the beautiful dessert display; the cheese cake was dry, the whip cream topping tasted like all the flavors of the whole refrigerator and the dessert was served in a bread plate. Our waiter never came back to ask us how everything was. He came back for the check and never even questioned why I removed the disgusting whip cream or to ask how our food was. Suggestion: the baker took a lot of time and effort to create his masterpiece; serve it in a plate with fresh whip cream and a swirl of something and garnish it with a mint leaf. We eat with our eyes first! Waiters check on your tables!! Ask! Ask! How was everything? read more

What a great setting: outdoor patio seating, occasional train passing nearby. The Mission Street Tacos were totally amazing! But my issue is with the dogs. If I wanted to dine at a dog park, this is where I'd go. After we ordered, 3 different groups came with dogs and dispersed at tables across the patio. The dogs barked at each other continually for about 15 minutes while the owners smiled and half-heartedly restrained them and the waiters brought our food while petting the dog next to us. The person at the middle table with one of the dogs apologized to other diners and considerately left. The barking stopped, and we only had one dog crawling around under our chairs. Please leave your dog at home. I really don't want to eat at a dog park. I hope the Cup rethinks their policy... read more

While visiting Tucson for the gem show my husband and I took an uber downtown on Sunday for brunch, we headed straight over to the cup cafe after a very pleasant walk through the downtown area. There were a ton of people waiting in the lobby upon entering from the street side rather than the patio-side. I asked how long the wait would be and the hostess said there was immediate seating at the bar. This thrilled me to no end because we were HUNGRY. Luckily it was the kind of hungry where everything looks good and therefore there is no time for indecision to rear its ugly head!! I ordered the BRUNCH OF CREPES off the lu ch menu chicken, bell pepper, onion, mushroom, leeks, spinach, manchego cream, dressed greens, fresh fruit, yum!! The flavors, textures and variety of this plate made my mouth and my tummy very happy. My husband had the two egg breakfast, with an english muffin- it was simple but good and fresh. We had gem shopping to attend to after so we did not partake in the Bloody Mary's but they did look divine. Glad we made a stop here before leaving town. read more

The food, the staff and the environment are all great at this establishment. Every time we have gone, it has always been a great experience. Great kids menu as well. Order the Gun Powder Breakfast, it's so delicious! read more

Came for brunch and had to wait well over an hour. They did not take reservations. The menu had cast iron eggs, which Tucson Weekly listed as one of Tucson's top 100 essential dishes. I disagree. Two people in my party ordered it and they came out looking like completely different dishes. My mom ordered a Bloody Mary, which is clearly the Sunday Brunch quint essential beverage at the Cup. However, everyone was walking around with celery and the typical pickle/olive type garnish- except my mom. UGH. I had the hash, which failed to impress. The only saving grace was the peanut butter cheesecake. read more

Great sit down place for brunch! I love that atmosphere and the way this place looks! Staff is friendly and food is good! Baked eggs is obviously by far the best menu item (who can resist a pan full of cream?!) haha. I've had other things things there as well and have yet to be disappointed! read more

I love eating here! Their brunch/lunch menu is great, and they have all the drinks you could ever want. Their cakes in the rotating shelfs are really good. A little rich though so you might want to split one. read more

It's an experience not just a meal. My family has lived in Tucson for four years but we've never eaten at Cup Cafe or even entered Hotel Congress. Sunday morning we were looking for a new breakfast experience and decided to try it based on Yelp reviews. It said there would probably be a wait we decided to try anyway. What a sweet surprise to find out that the wait could be such a great part of the experience. We had one of the the world famous - you pick your own unique ingredients - Bloody Marys. Feta cheese in your drink - yelp. Capers in your drink - yelp. As we enjoyed our drink a little 3 piece string band played tunes from the early 1900s. The only mistake we made was to say we would take the first available seats which turned out to be outside and VERY hot. I tried the skillet which my family all tasted and wished they had ordered. One cuban sandwich with tortilla soup and one traditional breakfast. The potatoes were extra yummy. Service was great. People watching was fun. There must be a yoga studio nearby because ladies that were obviously post-yoga came in with their mats. I think my daughter and son-in-law are going to go back again for a date night dinner (without me:). read more

Went for Sunday brunch and found that the mimosas were inconsistent and the Bloody Mary bar line was very long. Other than that this is a great spot for breakfast because of the lively atmosphere and variety on the menu. Live music in the lobby is a fun and the outdoor patio allows for dogs. Slowly working through everything on the menu but I would highly recommend the silverside hash! read more

This quaint joint is always hopping (but don't let that phase you - I have always gotten a seat). I have been here a couple times for dinner and am always pleased. I have heard breakfast is AH-mazing, but haven't tried it myself yet. Most recently I came in for dessert and a cup of tea after a night on the town. We sat at the bar and split the lemon meringue pie (two of us couldn't finish the one slice). It was tangy and just what was needed to top me off for the night. read more

Call me boring and predictable...I don't mind! I love love the apple and brie sandwich. I get it every time and its never un-delicious and YES I always eat it all. I've only come here for lunch never dinner and I have yet to be disappointed. I always sit outside or at the bar and a couple of yummy bloody mary's and my gigantic fully devoured sandwich later I am as happy as a monkey in a barrel! Next time I will make an attempt to deviate and let you know. I'm making no promises. read more

This place is AWESOME. I drove up from Phoenix just to eat here. No, i am not kidding! If you are a veggie like me, or even not a veggie, you MUST try the Taro Burger! Made fresh with quinoa and other veggies, definetly add some hot peppers on there if you like a kick! read more

As far as brunch downtown, it doesn't get better than Cup (nook and 5 points are up there though). There are 3 items on the menu that I usually rotate - cast iron baked eggs, huevos rancheros, silverside hash. All 3 are amazing. Now I've had the braveheart and chilaquiles verde, which are both good but not as appetizing for me. I usually pair it with some iced coffee (so good). Or if we're day drinking, you have to get the bloody mary from the bloody mary bar (only open from 10-2 sat/sun). Be sure to: 1. get an extra shot for $2 and 2. add avocado and goat cheese to your bloody. They shake it up and it makes this creamy consistency. Absolutely the best bloody you'll ever have. Only issue with this place is that it gets PACKED. Expect to wait for a table for brunch on the weekend. read more

Hit and miss but overall very good. Chicken tortilla soup is trash, however mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad is Michelin one star. 9/10 this place is great but they need to just touch up items on the menu to make this a top notch place. I keep coming back though due to the select great items and overall great service read more

Amazing food.... This time I had the nicoise, and a bite of everyone else's baked skillet, the classic burger, huevos rancheros... simply delicious! Heads and shoulders above the rest for quality ingredients and excellent execution. There is ambiance, great patio and really excellent cocktails. With family to visit here, I eat out quite a bit in Tucson and for me, this is it. It's not a fast food place, so be prepared to linger and savor the experience... it may take some time to be seated, order and get your food so come with good company and know that they won't rush your table either. read more
