Smokin' Q's was once one of my favorite restaurants. The food was consistently good in quality, taste, and portions. We hadn't ordered Smokin' Q's for half a year and we were craving some good barbecue so we ordered it tonight and were deeply disappointed. We went all out, planning for yummy leftovers, and spent close to $100. Let me begin by saying this was a takeout order. All of our experiences with Q's were takeout orders. All were fantastic and fresh. This time was not. I don't know if it's just tough times due to Covid or what, but the quality totally tanked. I ordered 3 tacos to try. I ordered the brisket ($16/ 2 tacos + side) the pork, and the chicken (both $12/2 tacos + sides). It was like throwing money in the garbage. They were not at all good to say the least. The meat consisted of all the leftover scraps: the fat, the skin, etc. The chicken tasted old. All the tacos were smothered in BROWN GUACAMOLE which was a theme throughout the meal since my husband ordered el jefe style brisket which came with a side of very brown guac. I am very curious how old this guac is considering I made some 2 days ago and it's still in my fridge and very green. So either they don't store it correctly, or it's quite old. I ordered a side of fried corn. It was not the first time I ordered fried corn. Normally the portion for fried corn is a very fair amount of corn for one person. It's usually 2-3 average sized cobs. But this time I opened the brown takeout box to see 3 little corn tips taking up approximately less than 25% of the box. They could have fit that amount of corn on the cob in one of their small round plastic containers where they put other sides like rice and black bean salad. It was pathetic. My 2 year old son was very hungry when we finally sat down to eat and I was very upset that his food was inedible. I ordered for him the kids cheeseburger and fries. All of his fries were very tough and I thought he might have a hard time with the texture so I decided to try one. The fries were horrid!!! Why do they think it's okay to give kids the days old leftover reheated fries? For how long were THESE left in the fridge? As long as the guac? Were they one week old fries from the fridge? They tasted absolutely horrendous. The burger and the bread were really hard and dry and tasted reheated as well. Nothing about his meal tasted good or fresh and I ended up having to cook for him. He was very sad about it too, since cheeseburgers are his favorite, just not this one. He could not eat it because it was dry, tough, and clearly reheated or microwaved from the fridge. No human, regardless of age, should pay $6 for such a cheeseburger/ fries combo. I don't know what's going on with Smokin' Q's but they sure used to be better and I believe they can be better again. I will probably wait til after the pandemic to give them another try. read more

Stopped in mid-afternoon on Saturday after Thanksgiving for a quick bite and a beer. So, let me say this was amazing! Two tacos - pulled pork and pulled chicken. Both were good - pulled pork had a nice residual heat. Pulled chicken was nicely cooked chicken - soft but not mushy. So let's go to the sides. I had 1/2 ceasar salad. Real deal. A bit too much dressing on the salad, but you could taste the anchovies in there. The croutons are house-made. Nice job. But we were not prepared for the brussel sprouts. OMG! You must order brussel sprouts. It's a perfect balance of savory and sweet, char and crunch. I'd eat a bucket of them. This place is a gem. Go. Now. read more

We have never been in this area before. The hotel staff suggested Q's. We were very pleased with the decor, menus and service. The server was charming and made us feel she enjoyed our company. It was taco night. We ordered two kinds, pork and beef. They were delicious. Spicy but not over whelming. For dessert the chocolate ice cream brownie was perfect for sharing. We intend to return soon. We unhesitatingly recommend this restaurant. read more

This is probably the most inconsistent barbacue establishment I've ever visited - some times ok usually not so good. It's in the meats - some ok some the dog wouldn't eat. Mac & cheese is quite delicious - rest quality not so good. read more

First time for us here and it was fantastic. Service was fast, food was hot and beverages were refilled promptly. We got the "pick 2" meats and we chose pulled pork and brisket. You get a choice of slices of brisket, chopped or burnt ends. The briskets was very tasty and tender. The pulled pork was sweet but also mildly spicy. Very delicious. The house cut fries are to die for. You also get a small dish of slaw and a soft sweet dinner roll. I highly recommend this place and am looking forward to ribs next time. Great Cleveland BBQ place. There is a ton of menu variety, even vegetarian choices. I highly recommend getting the "El Jefe style" for your meat, it's a nice change from the usual BBQ sides. I have been wanting to go here since they opened last year but the mixed reviews had kept me away. I finally decided to give it a try this past Friday. I had heard good things about the panko/frosted flake battered fish. Needless to say I should have gone here much sooner. I had a 2 meat combo, fish and brisket and the boyfriend had a 3-meat combo, pulled pork, ribs and sausage. Everything was great! The fried corn and sausage was a bit to spicy for me but everything else was wonderful! The mac and cheese is some of the best i have ever had. Don't let the reviews keep you away. I think there was some growing pains in the very beginning but they must have turned things around. Service was great, food was great and it was served hot and pretty quick. This place is all kind of awful from its concept to its execution. Awful on all levels. For starters they are specific on their offerings and nothing can be substituted. The menu had too many instructions...all which made ordering a hassle only to raise cost. We ordered an appetizer which we didn't like...we couldn't figure out if it was a Mexican or bbq restaurant! We decided not to order meals and the waitress looked at us like we were idiots. It then took us over 20 minutes to find her to get our check so we can get out of there!!! We tried the manager who was clueless and was standing there talking to other employees. Once he tried to actually hunt her down, it took another 10 minutes. Food was inconsistent. We had pulled pork, brisket and jalapeno sausage. The brisket was wonderful, the pork was very well done and smokey but didn't really have any flavor and the sause is very watery. The jalapeno sausage was horrible, it looked like something they stuffed into a casing and boiled till it stopped screaming. The best part of the meal the corn bread, it served in a little caste iron skillet and is some of the best I have ever had. They have only been open for a week so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again in a couple of months. read more

I will begin this review with the hope that a few months in business will improve this restaurant. We have been looking forward to the opening of Smokin' Q's since we heard about it! We sat at the bar for a late lunch on Saturday, June 10th. As other reviewers have stated, there were so many employees standing around and talking that it made us uncomfortable and no one seemed to have anything to do. The two employees behind the bar spent a good 15-20 minutes complaining about how many hours they were working. The bar is not a large area so there was no avoiding their conversation. We were ready to order, after the shock of $5 sides slightly wore off. Our server was taking our orders, and as he turned away from my husband to take my order, the manager said to our server "So I heard you came in a little late today, huh?" How is this at all appropriate to bring up in front of customers!? I said "Please have your conversation after I'm finished ordering." My pulled pork with $5 mashed sweet potatoes was, for the most part, enjoyable. The bread that it came with lacked any flavor. A friend of ours ordered the brisket, and got nearly an entire piece of fat, which they replaced for him at no charge. read more

Really disappointed! We ordered 2 dinners Beef Rib ($36 for a single bone) and Brisket. Brisket was ok, had a good bark but not at all seasoned. Beef Rib was totally unseasoned, and tastes as if it was reheated. We actually threw away that $36 . Ordered a variety of sides. Fried corn was good, sweet potatoes were ok. Mac and cheese was very good and fries were oily and old. This was on their second day of business which is why I'll be nice with 3 stars. I'll give em a couple months and try again to update the review for better or worse. But for a restaurant to serve obviously old and unseasoned food on one of there opening days is unacceptable. ,Smokin' Q's had been a destination for us; we've gone there a half dozen times and have crossed town to do so. This last visit was a total disappointment. On a Wednesday afternoon, we were literally the only diners there and chose to sit on the patio. The signature mixed drinks served had no flavor and were watered-down, and we did not reorder. The brisket order was dry and very tough inside. While the server did a good job, the final experience ruined any redeeming features of the visit. The patio chair had a piece of sharp metal pulled up from the mesh of the seat which ripped a large hole in my slacks. Had it been a warm day and shorts were worn, that would have been the back of my leg with a severe injury. Informed of the incident, the day manager showed little interest, and I had to make him take my name and number. I told him which chair did the damage and he said he would let Alyssa, the manager, know about my complaint. A week later there has been no contact or response. We spent $80 with this restaurant and had an event caused by them that killed the experience, and they couldn't even apologize? Never again! I've had a long career as a customer service professional and know that an apology goes a long way towards resolving a bad experience. If they don't care about the customer, there are plenty of other great restaurants you should try, skip this one. read more

High priced, lousy attempt at BBQ. The portions are skimpy and not nearly worth the price that is being charged. We tried the ribs. They were a low end cut of ribs and unappealing with underwhelming flavor. The brisket tasted ok, but again a pathetic portion for the price charged. The shrimp tacos were tasty, however again there were only (2) very small ones which were considered a meal. The one side we purchased, fries were good, but again not worth the $5 charge after spending so much on the meats. I rarely give poor reviews, but this so-called BBQ restaurant is a bit of a joke at this point in time. Small portions are fine, but you can't sacrifice quality and charge a premium price. Fun place with an inclusive menu that has vegetarian options. They also have a great selection of local beers. The patio is cute and the bar area is very inviting. Our first trip after seeing them on Fox 8 in the Morning. The space is on the smallish side, but nicely appointed. Service was prompt and pleasant. We built a meal out of a few apps and a salad.....all were pleasing, with special praise for the Brisket "Poutine"...a big plate of hand-cut fries smothered in beef brisket, melted cheese and pickles. The cornbread was delicious, as well. Plump smoked wings and a chopped salad rounded it out, and we were satisfactorily stuffed at meal's end. Nice selection of beer, wine, and spirits, too. This was our first time here and very pleasantly surprised. My husband ordered ribs and sides which he loved. I had the shrimp tacos and fries and they were cooked to perfection. Wow! I'm really on fence with this one. We were forced to sit at the bar because the restaurant was so busy at lunch time. The food was great, but the service was severely lacking. They had one person working the bar and waitresing, without a permanent bartender behind the bar. We waited 1/2 hour just to get a look from the waitress because that's how busy she was. We both ordered baby back ribs. They were under cooked, clearly not slow cooked. Seemed like they were precooked and reheated. There were hard to get off the bone without a knife. What ever happened to falling off the bone? They need a real pit master that has some experience doing ribs. If you can't get the ribs right at a barbecue spot, that is not a good sign. In fairness the corn bread was very good and the barbecue sauce was also good. Unfortunately brioche bun was dry and uninteresting. There are other much better barbecue spots in town. Third time we've enjoyed dining here - this time with guests. Each time we were fortunate enough to be able to order the New England Clam Chowder - the best I've ever had! Short wait for seating and great service every time. Love the Poutine & corn bread! Also am relieved to know that I can order the smoked meat offerings without any kind of sauces, since I prefer to let the smoked aspect be the dominant flavor. The perch was fresh and sweet - like fresh perch should be. There are a nice variety of entrees to choose from - some have spicy heat - some don't. The choice is yours. I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. There were all sorts of western decorations and BBQ themed items on the walls. I had the pulled pork, it was a little dry but still delicious. The brisket was the best meat we ordered, I would go back for just that! The entrees come with pickles which were awesome. The homemade bread made the meal. I had never been to Smokin' Q's before but I received a coupon in the mail so I figured I would try it. There was no wait so we got right in. The seating was quite cozy. It was very small. The food took very long and the ribs and wings weren't very tasty and they were quite fatty. Our waiter never came over to see how we were doing or if we needed anything else. But the manager (I assume) gave us our meal free. I would try it again although I wasn't that pleased. read more

We decided to try this place because we had heard they had good BBQ. We were seated right away on the deck. An hour and 10 minutes before getting 2 tacos and a chopped salad! I watched 2 other parties get seated after us, order, get their food, finish eating, pay the check and leave before we got our food. No offer to reduce the check or maybe a free desert! Additionally, the deck was shaking as the waiter walked by, I would not be surprised if it collapses. And make sure if your on the deck, to get seated towards the parking lot..the road noise makes it hard to carry on a conversation. read more
