I've been to Culvers a few times before, but in Iowa and Illinois. I learned fairly recently that there were a couple in Colorado and I took a friend that hadn't been before. He was in for a real treat. Yes, it can be considered "fast food", sort of. The key difference is the sit down service which you don't find at any other fast food place. We were greeted by the very friendly owner upon ordering and she was eager to have us there. As far as fast food burgers go, Culvers makes one of the best around -- "Butter Burgers." It rolls off the tounge nicely and they are delicious. The ingredients are super fresh and all cooked to order. Not only do they have great burgers, but they have tons of other things on the menu. Everything from a pork tenderloin sandwich, to beef pot roast and mash potatoes. They also have cheese curds, onion rings, and really good "crinkle" fries - those puppies hold the ketchup well. They are somewhat known for their frozen custard, which was spot on. They also have malts and shakes which are great as well. The service was hands on from the beginning. We were greeted and thanked from start to finish. They even came by our table to see how things were. Any place that combines the words butter and burgers is fine by me! read more

So this is one of my favorite places to eat burgers with my family. Today I noticed they had fried chicken. I thought I might give it a shot if it's fresh. I asked Tiffany if it was fresh and she checked the back and they said yes. Well if fresh is tasting like it's been under a heat lamp for a few hours then yes it was fresh. But fresh to me means dropped in the frier when ordered or shortly before . Fried chicken should be crispy not soggy but that's just my preference. I still love Culvers and will definetly be back. My family and I have been here a few times now & we have yet to be disappointed. In fact our kids kids were cheering in the car as we pulled in. I had been carving a decent cheeseburger all day & this hit the spot. We haven't ventured off the menu from cheeseburgers yet but mainly since they're so good. But next time I think I'll give the bbq pork a try. We did get onion rings to share which we good, nice & crispy. The kids meals come with a scoop of ice cream with one topping, which of course they all love. I ordered a reese's cup mixer which was also good. The employees are very kind & helpful and even had a sense of humor and a smile. There's a large dinning area that is roomy & clean. I purchase the Cod dinner here on occasion. Tonight I ordered the 2 Pc. Walleye dinner. Generally speaking, when deep frying Walleye the skin is usually removed. I found the skin to be rubberery and off putting. One side of my fish breading was over cooked and the other side of the breading under cooked and soggy. I struggled with the fish even after removing the skin. This wasn't very good quality Walleye and I would never order it again. It was a very disappointing dinner. read more

So I was excited when I found out Culvers had a gluten free bun and fries and couldn't wait to try the place. Well, the anticipation was muuuch better than the reality. First you took a perfectly good Udi's GF bun and microwaved it. You know how I know? They actually had the audacity to bring it out to me still in the plastic wrapper that they microwaved it in. Looked like a burger from 7-11. Tasted worse. The "patty" came out separate from the bun and I had to assemble it myself. For some reason I thought that was included in the price of the food. Apparently assembly is extra at Culvers. The patty was steamed, or maybe microwaved as well but certainly didn't seem grilled. All together it lumped up to be a terrible burger on a microwaved bun that I had to assemble myself. Oh and the fries taste like the ones that came from my school lunches. Today was our first time eating at Culvers off of a recommendation from several friends. I have to say, we were not disappointed. Everything was perfect. The food, the customer service and how quickly our food was made. Big thank you to Kevin, who was working at the front counter. He was SUPER friendly and was knowledgeable about the very large menu. Now to the food. Priced very fairly, the food was great! I ordered the double deluxe and cheese curds, and my daughter ordered the shaved prime rib sandwich. FANTASTIC!!! My wife and I have wanted to try this place so many time in the past 5 years we moved back into the area. To see how it would compare to all the other burger places. Food was fresh and the $1.25 up charge for onions were well worth it. The dinning are needs work as it almost felt like it took 5 mins to find a clean table to sit at. At around 4:30pm and you have employees standing around not doing any thing I'm thinking management is slacking. I learned that if "you have time to lean you have time to clean". I'm very, very, very discouraged to return at Culver's. The over the phone service got me hooked, I ordered a deluxe bacon sandwich and asked if tomatoes and onions were included and the nice gentleman over the phone assured me that it would. I arrived and was happy they had a drive thru. I'll know for next time. This is my first time at any Culver's. Rebekah, my cashier, was incredibly sweet and rang me out. I was completely thrown off at the fact she said my bacon sandwich was a "plain," and I had no idea that my veggies were not included. I also mentioned to her about my coupon on Yelp Check In, which deducts $1 off my order. She asks her manager, I'm sure it's the same man over the phone who provided me with the service. The only reason for my visit was seriously because of Yelp's promising ravers, but it died so quick. He mentioned it's only honored in Colorado Springs. I was very disappointed because it was only $1. But that's right. $1. I didn't stress over it, but it still would've been nice to wow my first time as a patron. When I had my burger finally, it was incredibly heavy, greasy and no veggies like I asked. I felt instantly bloated and usually try to be careful when it comes to burgers itself. Now, I know you think I'm a nagging Nelly. I know burgers are heavy, but I've never had such a greasy burger since my visit to a Red Robin's. This wasn't what I expected. The veggies would've balanced out the beef and cheese. Without it, it's just a wad of grease. The onion rings are incredibly incredible!! Super easy to chew and bite. The shell is very soft and it doesn't throw crumbs like most fast food chains. I haven't had wonderful onion rings since Burger King. I know. I have issues. I looooove Burger King onion rings, but Culver's did steal my heart away on this one. The Fry Sauce they have is wonderful and I suggest ordering 100 of them. They are indeed wonderful and super creamy. Aside from the small goodness of sauce and onion rings, my burger was soooo overpriced to not have the basic tomatoes and onions included. I am done with Culvers. While the food was good, the operations are terrible. We visited two Fridays in a row, and both times were told that they were not taking anymore orders for 30 to 40 minutes, because the "kitchen was at capacity". I have never heard of a chain restaurant, that has to regularly turn customers away. Plenty of other choices out there for good burgers and fries. read more

I went through the drive thru so I can't tell you really much about the inside of this place. However, customer service was spectacular and so was the food. I'll definitely be coming here more often. We visited Culver's a week ago, we had been there once and were very satisfied with the food, prices and customer service. Gotta tell ya, we were not happy AT ALL this time !!! The double cheese burger looked awesome on the menu board behind the counterm, however, the burger patties were no thicker than the slice of cheese...HUGE disappointment !!! The fish sandwich was no bigger than a hot pocket and the fish the size of a twinkie ! The fish sandwich was almost $7 and if you want anything else like fries or cole slaw, that would be extra ... Also, the condiment station wasn't serviced either. We have decided that if Culver's can fall that far below what we considered excellent before.... it's not worth eating out anymore. Next time, I will stay home, save gasoline and make my own tasty food! read more

I then ask for two deluxe meals one with chili fries the other with curds. I then ad for an additional curd.) during this time the person on the mic did not ring my order correctly and also was rushing me. I look through my food to see I dont have any deluxes and no additional drinks. At this point I go inside to just pay for what I wanted, just to find out they forgot something else. This location consistently falls short on so many items. The last visit I had, on Labor Day, was by far the worst. They were very slow when we were there - 3 tables occupied and nobody in line. 5 - 6 teenage employees visibile hanging around the counter. Despite this, we found 2 clean tables and nobody cleaned any of the dirty tables during our 30 minute visit. First off, our orders arrived incorrectly. We just decided to exchange the sides among ourselves and pick off the wrong toppings/add what was missing. Our burgers were cold, yet burned - quite the feat. The cheese were two cold slabs on our burgers and not melted at all. The BBQ sandwhich was cold. Cheese curds were luke warm outside, not cooked at all on the inside. I took those to the counter and less than a minute later they brought the EXACT same curds back to our table. I know this because there had been a dab of ketchup on the envelope and it was still there. Needless to say those were thrown away. Fries were also barely cooked but after the cheese curds being returned to us we ended up just tossing those too. Decided to order custard since they had Andes custard. The boy behind the counter could not grasp what a one topping sundae was and kept telling me Concrete Mixers came with an addtional topping. I told him no, I wanted a sundae. He walked up to the menu, hit the concrete mixer area and told me that was what I was ordering. Um, I think I know better than he what I wanted. I told him to move up and to the left to "Sundaes" and he would see what I was ordering. He then got so confused he had to walk away to get help. When I finally got my order from him it was a dish of ice cream, no topping. How hard is it to understand "single scoop with hot fudge?" This was the third visit in 5 weeks, and all had similar food and service issues. I am from WI, I grew up on Culvers and THIS IS NOT what I grew up to expect. Sadly, I filled out an online feedback form and got no response. So, apparently, this location is now what seems to be the new norm for Culvers. Sad. read more

Horrible!! Always loved going to Culver's until the last two visits, customer service was terrible. The moment I walked Into the location I should of walked out. Walked to the counter and the young man literally stared at me not saying a word, so I stared back at him and asked him if he was open and ready to take my order. He just stared as if though he was confused so I went to the other line and my order was taken by that young man. Ordered a FEW chicken sandwich meals with cheese curds and chicken tender meal with fries. No ice, no ice tea, no mustard, no straws I tell the young lady at the front counter and she says ok and walks away! Order arrives and I get one chicken sandwich meal with curds and one chicken tender meal with fries. I walk over to the counter and tell them about the missing order I give the young lady at the counter my receipt and she hands off ticket to a young man doing the orders who asks me about the missing items. I tell him and he hands ticket to a different young man who finally tells the cooks about the missing items. Shortly after I get my missing sandwich with cheese curds and walk back to my table. Chicken sandwich Is COLD. At this point it's a lost cause to tell them about the sand which and we leave, as I'm walking out an older gentleman walks up to the counter and the young male states, What you need!! This place is constantly packed. It's a minimum of 20 minute wait for your food. The parking spots they have to wait are ridiculous. So small & too tight next to each other. There's constantly fights/arguments between customers over the parking spots. The workers are also very rude. The drive thru people need to get a different job if they hate it so bad. read more

Since my first review, the quality of the food/chef has deteriorated. The butter burgers were great, now they are disgusting! Burned patties and the buns were smeared with grease not butter! Took my grandson for an ice cream cone and ordered some shrimp for me. I took my number and pulled up. The wait was so long and my grandson was upset because they gave him a melted drippy ice cream. How do you go to Culvers (home of butter burgers and custard) and eat a chicken sandwich??? That would probably be why you didn't like it. *sigh* It's a bit like going to McDonalds and complaining about the steak. That said, I'm sorry but Culvers is the closest I can get to a real burger and custard this side of the Mississippi. Their's is not quite on par with true butter burgers, but their frozen custard is dead on. You know good frozen custard by how the chocolate tastes -- it should be a dark, Dutch chocolate, not vanilla with chocolate syrup in it (ala Good Times). I grew up in Wisconsin, where Culver's started, and all I can say is that if they were that bad, they'd not have franchises up the ying yang like they do. read more

There are as many Culver's in Texas as bluebonnets, but this is the whole show in greater Denver. The reason to go here is for the frozen custard with cashews or banana's foster sundae. You'll find the menu items proudly "butter cooked" resulting in the greasiest patty melt the world has eve known. A solid 9 n the Crisco scale. But Culver's is notoriously clean and fresh and the wrinkle cut fries are bout the best you can find. read more

We got a blackened chicken sandwich with no sides. I suppose we should have checked, but I really, how many drive through people get simple orders wrong? Raise you hand if you had never heard of Culvers before eating here! *My hand shoots straight up knocking my coffee over.* The bf is from Iowa where apparently Culvers is the "it" thing. I, being a Denver native, had never heard of it. Also, being a Denver native, had never had a cheese curd before. When I told this to the guy I was thrown in the car and off we went to Culvers. Culvers is somewhere in between a Wendy's and a sit down burger joint. You go up to the counter and order and then take your number sign thingy to your table and await your food. This particular Culvers (not sure if there are more in CO or not...) is a nice size and filled to the brim with families. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich which was really tasty. I ended up chucking the bread and just eating the tenderloin. The bf got the butter burger aka artery clogger. This was ok. The cheese curds? Apparently they are better in the Midwest. Either that, or I just don't like cheese curds...Apparently everyone else in the restaurant was enjoying them because I saw them on nearly every table. Culvers is really rich and fattening, so I think that I will save this as a treat and definitely not a regular occurrence. read more

Yum! Takes me back to my discovery of them in Omaha. Their burgers are all made to order, you get exactly what you order! The burgers have this great crust on them and the buns are grilled (with butter of course) for another added crunch. Fries are good, the onion rings are fresh and crunchy too - I'd go with the rings. Now onto the custard -- sweet mother of god, it's delicious. I'm a big fan of the turtle sundae, but you won't be disappointed with any choice.
