1. One day in 2025 before my car accident a foreign female cashier evil eyed me and tried to refuse service because I had just got my laundry done next store so my cart was filled with clean clothes. She made the comment we don't serve homeless people like you. I was appalled by her comment I told her that I'm not homeless and I work two jobs and get me a manager now she did and I told management what she said to me and they gave me and 50 percent off my meal for this as I assisted to wanted to pay. Wow, looking at these reviews... you'd never guess.... I got nothing. This area got all the sketchiness. "Hood booger" if you will. I went at night, probably a questionable decision, but when basic dairy cravings call, you have to answer. Drive thru attendant was nice, although when he took my money then closed the window while these three dudes on bikes in the ally sat staring at me, I did question why he had to leave me like that. But seriously, it's a Culver's, you know what to expect, but, I went for the Salted Caramel Pumpkin Concrete Mixer and thus, the weight of the review lies here - this thing was amazing. Pumpkin Pie in a cup. Holy heck. It's been a bit since I had a mixer and this one seemed to melt quicker than any I've ever had which was disappointing, but I guess I could have also had the McDonald's ice cream experience after 7pm, so I can't complain too bad. 3rd Strike, and they're out! Never again, not after the experience at this Culver's location on 9/3/2023. This place is obviously not in business to provide positive experiences for their customers. While I was waiting for several minutes at the front counter to be greeted, or at least acknowledged, with no other customers waiting, there were five employees huddled & talking at the counter opposite the front counter. There were some side glances at me but no action to disengage from their huddle in order to greet me and provide assistance in placing an order. When a young teen boy began slowly approaching me from the farthest end of the order counter, he stopped several feet away, and just looked at me. He also kept glancing back at the remaining four employees still huddled around that back counter. He did not speak; he just looked blankly at me. So I asked him if I could place my order with him. He seemed to agree, but then he was unable to grasp what I requested: a Raspberry-Lemon Ice Cooler with some vanilla custard floated in it, not 'blended in'. He turned to look at the huddled others and said nothing to them; it seemed like he was waiting to speak to someone in particular. When he finally noticed some cue from the huddle, he spoke to a young woman and she came to the front counter to ask what I wanted. I told her the same thing I'd told him. She seemed to understand and entered info into the computer, but she did not ask me what size I wanted. She told me the total, I paid, and then she slapped down on the counter in front of me a sticky note with a number on it. A few minutes later, the same young teen boy who first cautiously approached me handed me my order and I thanked him. I was going to enjoy my frozen treat inside their air-conditioned space on that 90+ degree day, but after finding no clean table to sit at after looking at a few, I left and drove home while slurping some of my quickly-melting treat. As I got down towards the bottom of the cup, using the spoon to scoop up flavored ice and custard, I encountered something unexpected and startling. Spitting out the offending item, I found it was a hunk of chocolate. If they're going to add a hunk of chocolate to their Raspberry Lemon Ice Coolers that include some vanilla custard floating in it, they really should let customers know that by including it on their menu description. I'll be brief and to the point. We ordered drive through and repeated our orders twice for clarification. When we received our order, we doubled check and it was incorrect. I had ordered a GF bun. So we went inside to get the order remade. We asked for our order to be remade and once again, it was incorrect. We waited 15 minutes for our order to get remade twice. One of the staff members was super apologetic and was trying his best to help us out but the other employees where extremely disorganized. A massive lack of communication from this location. Another HUGE concern was the fact that the cooks were NOT wear masks. That is a health safety concern with COVID being a hot spot in Minnesota at the time of this order. Was in the drive thru 50 minutes. Sat at the loudspeaker for 7 minutes before I was even greeted to be told to hold on..that was another 4 minutes. Mind you no vehicles were even at the window. I get to pay and am at the window and am there for 5 minutes. I have to wait 9 minutes when there was only 1 other car waiting for food. As I am sitting there waiting I see the employee that is bringing food to the cars sitting outside door in parking lot talking with someone who came up on bike. We are road tripping and had to com try these delicious cheese curds! The southwest chicken sandwich is amazing and crunchy. We also split the original butter burger with no onions and we loved both. The flavor is so good I wish we had this back home!!! The butter burger has just the right amount of toppings and it's better than other fast food burgers for sure!!! The store in st paul midway is screwed up. After an employee walks our no one else in the store can make custard so we spend 40 minutes in the drive thru just to be told the car in front of got the last custard. Then when we complain that we had to spend 40 minutes in the drive thru they threatened to call the police. Dosen't Culver's take the order, have the customer park and bring the food out to them? Not at this one where car sat in line for 20+ minutes, and the next 2 for 10 minutes each. It is not that they didn't have the custard it is waiting for 40 minutes with only 3 cars in front of us. The dinning room was locked and closed at 6:50pm with no posting or notification that guests were limited to the drive-thru 2. Posting on drive-thru microphone said all carbonated beverages were out of service so I ordered a lemonade. The drive-thru attendee asked I read the sign to which I replied "yes". Place your order at the window then go park in an alley for 30 mins to an hour while the workers run around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to find who ordered what. I had a hankering for some concrete mixers. I went to this Culvers and ordered two concrete mixers. My mother wanted a Raspberry & Peach and I ordered the Strawberry & Banana. We typically get these every two weeks or so and they are awesome. However, in this day it was not the case. These were more like a runny milkshake and the fruit was definitely not ripe. Service was good and fast but maybe to fast as these were super runny and fairly tasteless. This is the worst Culver's I've ever been to. The service horrible and slow. I tried to ask if I could get chocolate and vanilla in the same cup and they said "we can't do that". What?? I said just make it easy and do a cup of each...then after a long silence she says "oh never mind we can do that". Ok, great. When we pulled up to the drive thru window, we were "greeted" (but not really) by a young lady who looked like she would rather be anywhere else but there. She and her other fellow employees looked dirty and unkempt. My credit card was giving her machine a bit of trouble, and she kept muttering "don't do this to me you bitch" to her machine. Just so weird, and totally not the lovely and friendly service I've experienced at every other Culver's ever. I ordered a gluten free grilled cheese and received a bun in a plastic bag and two dried out slices of cheese in a container. I absolutely would never go to this location again and recommend no one does. The man (light skinned, early 20s, 5'10 ish) in drive thru on March 5th during the late evening shift really needs to work on his customer service skills. He was not pleasant, took about 5 minutes to get back to us and was obviously not happy to be there. He did not offer a receipt or napkins. Our mixer and sundae had custard all over them and I had to ask for napkins. His customer service is subpar compared to drive thru Culver's in Little Canada. We stopped by the new Culvers in part just because we enjoy having a Culvers near our house now! Yay! As we walked up to the door, a young lady came flying out a back door with a take-out order for someone waiting in their car. She gave us a friendly smile and said, "Welcome to Culver's!" I was kind of surprised given experiences at other fast food places in the area, but pleasantly so. That pretty much set the tone as far as service... everyone we dealt with was super friendly, very helpful, extremely positive, etc. The food was great because it's Culver's... I will say my turtle sundae did not have as much fudge, caramel and pecans as it usually does at other Culver's, but I will chalk that up to people still learning the menu... We liked the booths, which were (as Rhonda said) very cool and tall offering privacy but also facing big windows, which made it very pleasant. I will say it seemed like the staff was having a bit of trouble keeping the place clean. Our table was dirty when we sat down and the floor was pretty dirty when we walked in. Then again, we live in Minnesota and it was November and a busy Saturday, so I'll cut them some slack. Sure we'll be back. read more

Upon my arrival I see a long line of cars and two staff members outside smoking a cigarette and talking to non employed individuals. When I got into the restaurant it was a completed mess and there were so many staff members standing around on their phones. I purchased a strawberry shake and a Twix mixer.. it took 20 minutes!!!! I was trying to be patient but I finally said something to one of the workers standing around and asked about my order. Her response was "oh yeah we didn't know who this went to" and pulled our ice cream out of the sink! I was disgusted. I am unsure how long it was in there but the ice cream was pretty melted. I didn't want to cause a scene but I asked them to make the shake thicker because it was completed melted at this point. Never coming here again! Just pure chaos. read more

This culver's has a problem. I've never bothered before to make a yelp account in my entire life. its sad to see how the quality of this place has gone downhill since the pandemic started. when i first tried culvers here it was amazing but there has been a consistent pattern of its quality going down. when they do things right its as you expect of culver's excellence. but they never seem to do things right. they lately have been gradually screwing over simple basic things escalating by order. at first there were weeks were they did not have enough sweet iced tea or even large beverage containers. I gave them a pass as it may have been a supply chain issue at that time. There was a huge chunk of time where their menu still showed the bbq tenders but on the menu only til they finally removed it. everyday i came i'd ask if they had it and nobody ever gave me a proper explanation as to why that menu item was showing up on their drive through menu if it wasn't actually available. that should've gave anybody huge red flag alone that there were issues brewing behind the scenes. There were many times i'd ask for a large drink then come up to find my drink as medium I never said a word about it and just quietly kept my head down. The incompetence simply kept going on. it escalated and escalated nowadays there is a 50/50 chance I could ask for an order atleast one major item or minor could be missing out of what i asked for. its not just an issue with the receptionist whose taking the order for the customer but those actually making it. Here's the thing. Culvers is amazing. Culvers is excellent when done right! I really really want to like it but how is it that I can consistently get missing items both on my receipt and what's given? how hard is it to hire a receptionist who actually can keep track of what's going through or a team that catches these mistakes? what sorta system are they using in their store to manage orders coming in and out daily? it seems like there is a huge clusterfuck from what i can experience on the drive thru side. there was only one time i went inside and it seemed just as chaotic and cluttered up as it was inside. they SOMEHOW managed to screw me over and fergot my chili the ONE single time i actually managed to go into their restaurant physically in person! if the quality and consistency of customers served in house is that terrible then god knows what other customers who've used the drive thru have went through. If anybody in Culvers management is reading this please either shutdown this restuarant in university ave st paul or do a huge revamp of it because its simply giving your franchise a bad name. as to what caused to me write this review is a lady with a black uniform who was supposedly the drive thru receptionist or someone higher up in management actually came to me after i asked the worker delivering the food to me at the drive thru parking lot for one of my missing items. the fact that she couldn't even remember that the items i had ordered for me is one thing it was very very confrontational. i felt like i was a criminal LIKE i had done something wrong for simply pointing out the mistakes she and her team had done. the drive thru delivery worker was ACTUALLY more kinder and respectful to me then this person who had a higher position. that is absurd. I was being nonchalant during her tirade against me. I simply said its "ok" and tried to not make a big deal of the missing items. Later on as i drived back home i realized that they also gave me the wrong ingredients on my vanilla custard mixer. i had asked for a one with peach and cashews mixed in but they hadn't even given me peach and instead gave me just cashews and walnuts for some reason? what's funny is that this was one of the missing items they had supposedly gave me after i waited an additional 5 to 8 minutes in the blistering summer heat in my car. I'm wondering what sort of system do they have in place to keep track or manage orders inside their store? couldn't they have simply pulled up the data from the order numbers or computers and seen what i had asked for? either its incompetence or maliciousness at that point. another glaring issue is the the traffic during rush hour times. some folks almost had a car accident as the wait line in the drive thru was blocking the way for many cars coming and exitting the roads leading to their entrance. they either need to get a larger parking lot or speed up their process or a 2nd drive thru window as that is a huge safety hazard for many people coming and going through such a busy intersection. This culvers is a disgrace to the franchise and while i'd be sad if it went away as i really do enjoy getting the occasional rootbeer float i feel like it'd do the brand a whole lot of good either to shut it down or revamp the whole store because its simple this store has far too many problems to function in a way fitting the culver brands of excellence. read more
