I discovered Culvers in high school and was surprised to see a fast food restaurant look so nice and charming. Welcoming is the correct word to use. So now it's been 10 years since I've been a patron to this Culvers and I am completely satisfied. The staff is warm and friendly going above and beyond to assist you. The burgers (butter burgers) are juicy and delicious with a unique good taste to them. They come with crinkle cut fries (my fav) and also have fried Wisconsin cheese curds! Hello these are delicious. Culvers also has other items like fried chicken and fish that don't disappoint but I always find myself going for the burger meal. Don't pass up on dessert either because their custard is out of this world. They have different daily custard flavors and of course standard options so there's definitely variety in the sweets department. Last thing, Culvers Root Beer is very yummy. CHOCOLATE FROZEN CUSTARD! I love it, live it, dream about it! I don't particularly like their burgers. When I went, my sister ordered the mushroom swiss burger and couldn't find any mushrooms until the last bite. lame. I ordered the bacon butterburger and it tasted primarily like mayo to me. yuck. However, frozen custard is the saving grace here and ultimately the only thing that matters. If anything, get a frozen custard. preferably chocolate. let it change your life and then order a quart of it to take home. you're welcome. read more

First and last visit... I mean it just didn't feel right. The little lady that gave me my food looked like she was out of a Christian cult in a movie thriller. The food was just okay. Whataburger has them beat or even Freddy's... I couldn't even finish my burger because I got a bite that just didn't sit well with me and I started thinking and said enough... Love going here when I am on this side of town and craving a nice burger. The little fried cheese curds are tasty and they are super friendly. They bring your orders to your table ala Whataburger number card style. Also, if you want a dessert (shake, ice cream) after your meal, you can go pick it up after you eat using your receipt. Totally a guilty-pleasure kind of place. They do have a decent selection of ice cream but what's frustrating is that it's limited in comparison to what they display on their website. Wish there would be a little more consistency about what flavors they actually have on-hand. I don't know, maybe they just ran out of flavors. You shouldn't have to be gourmet or fancy to deserve 5 stars. For the money we paid, it was outstanding service and great food! The young man that took our order was happy to explain many of the popular foods when he learned it was our first time there. They also bring the food to your table too. Pretty good burgers, lots of variety for a fast food-ish type joint, we ordered the mushroom and Swiss and deluxe burgers with a side of cheese curds which is basically fried, breaded cheese. Deliciousness even if I'm risking a potential heart attack and or an extra 10 lbs. I would go back for more though maybe just run a couple miles on the treadmill beforehand so the guilt isn't so strong. read more

My family & I would take a drive to the DeZavala location to enjoy burger night. But last night will probably be the last time ever. The burger I received looked like someone smashed it. No Bun was squashed and had oodles of wrinkles and the meat, cheese, lettuce were pressed together so tight, you could not even try to open the sandwich. Quite comparable to Freddy's Steakburger, right down to the dessert offerings of concretes, custards and sundaes. Culvers is a standard fast food burger chain from the Midwest, they do make some delicious cheese curds though. This review has been edited to reflect two different experiences on two different occasions. The first time was a drive-thru experience: AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE - SO RARE! We pulled up at about 10:55 p.m., not sure how late they stay open. My boyfriend got out of the car to read the hours and as he was getting back in the car because he couldn't read them, a lady comes and unlocks the door and says the drive-thru is open until 11:00. Thank you so much! So we pull around and she gets on the other end and answers all our questions in such a friendly manner (as we hadn't been to a Culver's in years). We pull around and see she is the General Manager. The chocolate malts are like heaven in your mouth and she was so nice with such a warm personality only 5 minutes before close. She clearly knows what customer service is and boy, do I appreciate that in this town. Due to the great experience that night, we decided to go into the establishment for lunch a week or two later. I went to use the restroom and as I entered I noticed a bouquet of fresh flowers on the sink but the rest of the bathroom looked dingy. As I walked into and out of the bathroom stall I noticed the floor was sticky under my feet which really grossed me out. The General Manager must have been off on this particular day. I would have appreciated a clean bathroom more than some flowers on the sink. I came out and mentioned this to my boyfriend and he said the men's was equally off-putting. It made me lose my appetite somewhat. The food was okay, the service mediocre. My boyfriend spoke to a manager about whether they were looking for help. She said she was looking for some cashiers and since he has experience in restaurant management asked if they were hiring managers. Her tone changed, and she said she wasn't sure. I don't know if she felt like her job security was threatened or what, but we knew she was lying because as a manager, you know whether you are looking for help or not. Beats me why a quality manager wouldn't want to take on another high-caliber coworker to make their lives easier, but her general behavior suggested she wasn't all about quality. I really like culver's. It used to be one of my favorite spots to eat but I moved out of that particular area so I don't go as often as I used to. It's really clean and you're almost always welcomed when you enter, which is nice. The service is usually good and the food is hot and fresh when it's delivered to you. I never went to a Culver's until I moved to Texas, and man was I missing out. I was missing my old burger place in Kansas City, and decided to give this place a try. The Culver's Deluxe Burger is delicious! The best part is that I don't feel grossed out hours later like I do when I eat the usual fast food like McDonald's or Wendy's, which I try to avoid as humanly possible. Tried a butter burger, it was tasty but didn't really taste any butter :) The custard reminded me of the McFlurry drinks of MCD where they mix in the candy with the milkshake. I got a chocolate concrete with brownies and peanut butter. It's very rich! I'm a chocoholic but the mini size was plenty to satisfy my sweet tooth. Also was disappointed that the student discount was only for UTSA students (or so I was told). Where's the love for the health science students?! I had never been to a Culver's before and BOY I didn't know what I was missing! This is probably one of the best burger's you can get on the NW Side. It's also the only restaurant (besides Raising Cane's) that ALWAYS serves fresh, hot fries. I have yet to have cold and/or soggy french fries (I'm beating on everything made in my room right now so I don't jinx myself). The concrete mixers (custard with add-ins) are really good as well and HUGE. A small was like a 12-16oz, which I wasn't expecting, but hey you live and learn and YOLO. Favorite item here is the Butterburger with Bacon and you have to try the Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Sauce for dipping your fries in - you'll thank me later (and you're welcome in advance!). There is almost always a line in the drive thru, but they do a pretty good job of moving the line. The only thing I would improve (-1 star) is the loyalty program. They do have one and you get a free scoop of custard with signup, but it seems like they could make it so much easier -- i.e. Whataburger's app comes to mind where you get free stuff every 5th visit or something like that. read more

The food is good, especially the burgers (though not quite to the level of Backyard Burger). The staff was nice, the restaurant was clean, and prices were reasonable. We really liked that they include a coupon with the kids menu that you can redeem for a scoop of frozen custard. This was a big hit with our kids. What more do you want from a fast food place? If we lived closer, we'd probably visit often. read more
