I love all their food items, from their burgers to chicken and even the fish! This place can do no wrong!!! My favorite burger is the Mushroom swish, always thick, lots of cheese, lots of flavor, it's artery heaven. The crinkle fries are amazing, never too salty. I always like that they stick the pickle on top of the burger, that's legit, that's a fire starter. They got frozen custard too! You can usually get a free one, if you take advantage of their free wifi and do the survey on your receipt before you leave. Try the peanut butter and Oreo, its legit. I might be biased because I grew up in Wisconsin and Culver's is life... but if you're looking for frozen custard there's no reason to go anywhere other than Culver's, ESPECIALLY if you're a chocoholic like I am. The chocolate custard is so rich and delicious that chocolate ice cream will forever taste like vanilla to you. Although their burgers are good, I've got a small obsession with their chicken tenders (both regular and buffalo). Of course I've gotta give props to their cheese curds as well. Be warned--they charged us an extra charge for the brown gravy that is supposed to "smother" the ground beef patty on the chopped steak dinner per the description and photo on Culver's website. The dinner was ordered with TWO EXTRA gravy cups on the side which we expected to pay extra for. Instead, the dinner had NO GRAVY on the meat--it was dry. It was packed with 3 small gravy cups instead and we were charged for an extra charge for all three. Broccoli and fries were the two sides. Instead of receiving a full serving size of broccoli as shown on their website, the small container was less than half full. We paid extra for two small cups of cheese sauce in anticipation of receiving what Culver's represents as a full serving on their website. Needed less than half of one of the cheese sauce cups as there was such a small amount of broccoli served. (See photos.). A great place for burgers but don't overlook their dinner plates. Pot roast, chopped steak, fish, shrimp, and fried chicken. Service has always been great - staff are very friendly, not like other fast food joints. One other thing to note - the entry foyers smell BAD - like the body odor of one of my unnamed coworkers. The food is so fresh and the staff is awesome. Culver's is based out of Wisconsin where all the cheese is produced. Honestly, when I'm there I feel like Paula Deen is in the kitchen cooking me something delicious. These burgers are made to order and they are consistent every time! You must get the cheese curds and onion rings! They are super crispy and fresh! Most people don't know but the have dinner meals too like fried chicken, salads, soups, pot roast, fish. It's definitely the best comfort food under $10 per person. If you are a college student you also get a discount!! The desserts... WOW. There's so much to choose from.... custard, lemon ice with real lemon zest, concrete mix, shakes, sundaes... They have so many flavors!! Everything is so good!!! They must have read the other Yelper's smell complaint because it smelled just fine for our visit. Butter burger with cheese and bacon: Must have been thicker cut because it stayed together without crumbling during first bites. Had the single and it was filling. Can get all burgers as a single, double or triple. They use red onions instead of regular white. Cheese curds: really didn't know what they were so found out that they are mini-cheese sticks. Recommend the Root Beer!! It was very smooth with a clear root beer flavor, but it didn't feel harsh (think Coke) when it went down. Ice cream: Wanted to try it, but was full. Every good yelper knows fast food joints should only be rated against other fast food places which is why I've rated this one 4 bright and shiny stars. The cheese curds alone are a nice change from the usual fare of fries. Cheese makes everything better. These burgers have such a distinct touch that it's hard for me not to want to keep them in rotation. Given its no whataburger or even In-N-Out but it does have merit. Besides the food being up to snuff, service has always been fast and they beat most fast food chains in cleanliness. We love Culver's butter burgers, but we weren't in the mood for burgers yesterday. So we decided to try the cod fish plate instead and we're really glad we did. The cod was fried to perfection in a light batter and the coleslaw was creamy with a great taste. I felt like I was back in Wisconsin at one of the delicious fish fries they have every Friday night. Culvers on DeZavala is always awesome. Every single time I have eaten here or picked up food it is very good, fresh and high quality! The staff is ALWAYS pleasant and very helpful. Today my pork tenderloin was amazing and when I asked for mayo, tomato and lettuce (not usually on the sandwich, which I didn't realize when I ordered it) they were so amazing and gave me what I asked for very sweetly. Decided to try Culver's for the first time today. I had a double butter burger with bacon. I have to say that I was not impressed. The burger did not have much flavor and whoever made it put way too much mayonnaise. The fries were decent and the medium drink would be considered a small at other places. I have eaten at several Culver's outside of Texas and was surprised to see one in SA when we moved here. The menu items are a little pricey but the quality of the food is really good. The burgers are juicy and the sides are good. I recommend getting the cheese curds or onion rings. The shakes are also very good, be prepared to eat one with a spoon because they are really thick. If you get a kids meal they come with a dessert. The kid usually gets full with the meal so we end up sharing the dessert! read more

This was the first I ordered Culver's and I don't regret it, the food was amazing and we were served pretty quick.

Clean restaurant conveniently located right off De Zavala Rd. Recently became addicted to custard and came here on a Saturday evening for dessert (didn't try any "real" food) and was very satisfied. I was greeted by a friendly employee who helped me navigate the menu. I couldn't decide on two mix ins, so the employee was nice enough to double up on my Oreo mix in. The custard didn't taste particularly fresh or homemade (Andy's is the best hands down), but it was satisfying and delicious. Portions were great for the price as well. The place was clean and well-maintained. Highly recommend coming here for some quick dessert or a date night! read more

Coming from the Chicago suburbs, we had a Culver's every few miles :o). I don't mind driving across town to eat some delicious butter-burgers, cheese curds and have some yummy frozen custard! This frozen custard is like no other! It's like smooth butter melting in your mouth - incredible! They always have chocolate and vanilla but also feature a special "flavor of the day". Also, I'd like to mention that it's really hard to find crinkle cut fries in town. Culver's fries are the bomb! Crispy on the outside but soft and steaming on the inside. All the staff are super friendly and the place is SPOTLESS!! Hmmmm, what else can I add? Oh... the Rueben is great and so is the fried fish platter. But, the cheese curds are what dreams are made of. I would give it 3.5 stars, if I could is how I want to start out this review. They are still adhering to Covid 19 restrictions, so it is drive thru only; which wouldn't be a problem, if their menu wasn't so extensive! They have so many burger, chicken, seafood, and "home style" options, it's hard to order when you feel there is time constraints. My group quickly decided on cheeseburgers or fried chicken sandwiches with fries or cheese curds, they have so many side options: mashed potatoes, coleslaw, steamed broccoli, onion rings, side salads, soups, etc. The burgers were decent, thin patty, the buns were buttered and quite delicious, the highlight of the burger. The crispy chicken sandwich was ok, not overly flavorful but got the job done. You can't forgot about their custard, which you can get: a plain scoop, sundae, concrete mixer (like a blizzard), or a shake; they have every major candy, fruit, and syrup flavor under the sun. We all got chocolate ice cream concretes with different candies and it was the highlight of the whole Culver's experience. The custard is smooth, rich, creamy and worth the trip! Lastly, the servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and speedy. Culver's is worth a try, I suggest studying the menu on your phone before driving thru! read more

Was in town, wanted something we would normally not be able to get but that might have what the kids wanted at the moment (both wanted chicken fingers/nuggets) and so we looked around and found this place. The burger was good. Liked it a lot actually. The fries were okay, the cheese curds good, the chicken tenders were loved by the kids but reminded me of the cheaper processed chicken I could buy frozen at home. The root beer was good too. The custard was very good. The people working here were friendly, the place was extremely clean and overall had a great atmosphere. I would recommend going here for simple good food in a family friendly atmosphere with friendly staff and a clean environment. read more

Jesus makes the best burgers! It's true this place is a Christian run business and make no mistake, they've got Christian rock piping through the restaurant as your bury your fangs into the sweet charred, buttered goodness. My husband and I are usually the oddities when we eat here as it caters to families, college kids, and local business men, not dark tortured individuals like ourselves. I must admit we've gotten a couple of eyeballs upon entering and I usually tell my husband not to wear his offensive t-shirts when dining in. I'm joking, sort of. The burgers are buttery, charred, lean and the right amount of greasy. They remind me of the hamburgers my grandma made in her old cast iron skillet. The cheese curds are in my opinion the best side and condiment for your burger. I smash a few onto my cheese burger to really enjoy the heart attack goodness. The fries are crinkle cut and forgettable. The custard is great and a nice finish. I would say stick to the burgers because everything that I've had other than the burgers just doesn't do it for me, I'm usually left coveting other peoples burgers if I venture into non burger territory. One of my favorite places to meet in San Antonio! Everything about Culver's exudes a positive atmosphere: their happy demeanor, their excellent customer service, and their diligence in checking up on their customers even after their food has been delivered! Their clean, quiet, and well-lit dining room makes this location an ideal place to have lunch meetings with co-workers. I have never had a problem with their staff and I continue to have great experiences there. I haven't even gotten to the food! There are so many appetizing food options that I love! The Fish & Chips, for one, are ALWAYS a hit. The fish is always moist and cooked thoroughly, and the tartar sauce is always a great compliment to the fish. My personal favorite is the Double Butter Burger with cheese. It's very easy for me to just inhale the burger instead of enjoying how fresh and well cooked it is. While enjoying my burger, I can't help but notice how fresh and crisp the vegetables were! Too often, fast food companies skimp on the vegetables and give old, flat lettuce and soggy tomatoes. Instead, Culver's fresh ingredients further add to my pleasant experience. Finally, I am a HUGE fan of Root Beer. I can count on my right hand how many other places I've been to that have better root beer than Culver's. Honestly, their root bear is incredible!
