It was Sunday afternoon, but we were after the lunch rush. I was with my husband and daughter for a late lunch. It seemed like there were very few staff on hand. We were greeted and seated promptly, though. I like the layout of the menu with the pictures for their burgers. We started with an order of the cheese curds. It came with chipotle ketchup and we asked for a side of chipotle ranch as well. My daughter chose the Hangover Burger which consisted of a beef burger with American cheese, fried egg, bacon and maple syrup all on a "bun" of two glazed donuts. She paired that with a Unicorn Shake, a mixture of vanilla ice cream, strawberry, cherry and rainbow candy. She loved it! My husband went for the Cream Cheese Jalapeno burger. A beef patty piled high with red onion, shredded lettuce, cream cheese, jalapenos, roasted poblanos, bacon and chipotle aioli. We did question the source for their shredded lettuce and our server explained that it was locally sourced. He thoroughly enjoyed his burger. I went for the Poutine Burger. It was also piled high on a beef patty with greens, red onions, beer-battered cheese curds, demi glace, garlic aioli and crispy sweet potato ribbons. Delish! I would get that one again, for sure. I understand it was due to shorter staff, but the six top behind us was cluttered with the remnants of the previous diners throughout our time there as was a large group space behind it. It seemed as though there were only two people handling customers, food delivery and clean up and they seemed overwhelmed. That was my only caveat for the experience. Our table service and interactions with staff were great though.

2.5, edging down to 2 stars…read more Not the best food experience I've ever had. They're rated really high -- actually one of the highest-rated restaurants in Fort Collins -- and from a food perspective I don't really understand why. Sliders with sweet potato fries -- fine, nothing extraordinary. Potato éclairs -- . It was really just mashed potatoes with some topping on it. I honestly didn't even finish it. Mountain oysters -- huge letdown. They came out so overcooked they were basically crunchier than potato chips, with the batter crumbling off. I've never had them before, so I didn't get a good representation of how they're supposed to be -- these were just super-cooked batter. On the space: we ended up sitting in three different spots to eat. We went outside by the street first -- super loud, and people were smoking, so we headed back in. The open spot inside was right under the AC and about forty degrees, so we moved to the back area. The back was fine -- covered -- but pretty dirty, with mop buckets and clutter sitting around. The one drink I had was a good value since we were there at happy hour -- some kind of fruity whiskey drink. It was fine, but nothing I'd seek out again. I hate to give such a friendly place a bad review. It'd be a really great spot if you're a college student who wants some cheap bites and a drink -- but honestly it's just bar food, and the ceiling is probably a 4 on a really good day. I wouldn't get excited to head down there, and parking is a bit of a hassle too. Would recommend only if you're after very cheap eats in that area -- check them out for happy hour. But I would not return.

A little preparation on our end helped ensure everything went smoothly. Since The Regional is a farm-to-table restaurant, many items need to be prepared or prepped in advance, so I was grateful to collect everyone's orders earlier in the day. That gave the kitchen time to prepare and made it easier to get everything cooking once we arrived. We were seated off to the side of the bar in a small private area. The restaurant was busy, but not overwhelmingly so. Once we were settled, our server came over, introduced himself, and took our drink and food orders, making sure to associate each dish with the correct diner. After everything was entered, our drinks and food arrived surprisingly quickly. All of the food and drinks were good, but the service was even better. A big thank-you to the manager and our server for accommodating our team and helping make such a large dinner feel seamless.

The food was amazing I had the Prime Rib and loaded baked potato, my family ordered four appetizers they chose shrimp, oysters and chicken wings we wanted the 3 rolls but we were told we could only order 2 because they were sold out. We had no issues with food every item ordered was amazingly delicious. Compliments to the cooks! The service provided was not as impressive, I had asked for sweetener for our tea twice, he acknowledged and said he would bring it to our table but it never came. I had to ask the individual who brought out our appetizers thankfully he brought it as soon as he left the table. It took a while for our server to ask if we needed any drink refills. Lastly, since I sat at the edge of the table of the corner booth, I felt my personal space was invaded each time he brought out or food. He could have asked me to stand up or move for a little bit (which I wouldn't have mind), with this request he would avoided stepping on my foot, bumping me with his elbow and not reaching over me. Not sure if our server was in the best mood but when we were leaving he knocked over my tea spilling some on me and the take out container. Leaving me disappointed because my husband and I drove 672 miles. Even my children stated usually there is impeccable service.

Eh. Over recent years, I've had very hit and miss experiences at the downtown Austin's. Yesterday…read morewas another disappointing miss. We stopped in for a late lunch, arriving around 2. We started with a beer for my husband and a mocktail for me. The mocktail (blueberry lemonade) was simply not worth the $7 price tag. Mostly ice - filled to the literal rim of the glass. So full when I took one of my first sips, ice fell to the floor. There was just a splash of ginger beer; it could've used more but, alas, no room with all that ice! When I mentioned it to the server, she explained that's how they make them. She offered to bring me another, but it seemed clear she meant I'd be paying for it. No thank you. Next, my food. I tried the salmon burger (new to the menu, I'm told) which is actually a salmon croquette on a bun with some lettuce and vinaigrette. It's HUGE and not in a good way. The first few bites were okay, and I thought the heavily breaded effect was due to biting into the edge. As I continued eating, though, most bites felt like a mouthful of bread. I can only hope there was minced salmon in it, but the ratio was so heavy on breadcrumbs that I couldn't detect it. Not the slightest hint of pink on the inside either. I ate about 1/2, my hungry hub finished it. The flaws of the salmon burger didn't seem worth pointing out to the server after the response I got with the drink. Later, as we walked around downtown, I felt like I had a lead sandwich in my stomach. My husband had a better experience than I. His bison burger came out great. No complaints. Unfortunately for me, I think I'll just have to order very specific things when coming here now. Austin's has sentimental value for me - it's the first place we dined after moving here 27 years ago. Because of that, I keep giving them second chances after they fall short. I just wish they'd return to the days of "you can't go wrong", everything is awesome.

We were offered indoor or outdoor seating and we opted for outdoors on this balmy 80-degree evening. Wife N started with a mocktail: Summer Crush. Delicious and we didn't miss the normally included liquors in the spirited version. She ordered a make it yourself burger: just the bun, patty, some ketchup and mayo. Medium. Side of fries. Her way. Burger perfect medium. Fries were crispy, above average. I ordered the Mushroom Avocado burger, also medium. Burger was juicy, flavorful, and the tempura avocados were an interesting twist on the un-fried norm. First couple bites had some crisp but mostly the avocados got soggy halfway through. Not sold on the tempura frying but the sandwich on the whole was great. Got some local draft on the side. Well taken care of, food was great, will return.
