Wow I'm so glad we tried this spot!! Super friendly service from the start. We went around 8:45 am on Sunday and didn't wait at all. The food, oh my. So many choices. I had a "Whimpie" version of a Papas Carne Adovada. It was so delicious! I could never have eaten a full Papas. In fact all their dishes appear to provide a lot of food. We got a cinnamon roll to share as an afternoon snack. Boy that was a good idea as the cinnamon rolls are huge! I'm a baker and I would say even my homemade cinnamon rolls are not as light and delicious as Doug's are. A simple yet fun environment makes it as casual relaxing spot. We'll definitely be back in a future annual visit to Fort Collins. read more

My experience at Doug's Day Diner was okay, but it didn't stand out as a must try breakfast spot. We stopped by for breakfast and were seated almost immediately which was great. The restaurant ambiance is casual, but it felt a little dark and outdated. Our table ordered the huevos rancheros and the Taos papas. The huevos rancheros are two Eggs on top of Corn Tortillas, topped with a choice of Red and/or Green Chile, Cheeses and Garnish. Side of Browns, Tortilla and your choice of Refried or Pinto Bean. The Taos papas are Mountain of Browns or Homefries, Cheeses, choice of red Chile, green Chile, and/or gravy and two eggs with Chorizo, Turkey Green Chile Sausage, and Fresh Onions. The portions are generous and filling. It's definitely comfort food. I ate maybe 1/4 of my food and took the rest of it home as leftovers. Do yourself a favor and get something with their biscuits. Doesn't matter what meal it is, so long as it has a biscuit with it. My husband got the chicken fried steak, which was huge. The white gravy was really flavorful and perfectly thick, on top of hashbrowns with two eggs and a biscuit. They had a house made blackberry jelly and a green grape jelly- both were good, the blackberry was a little better. But the biscuit made me want to sing. Perfectly soft and pillowy, with a perfect soft crust. I got the egg Benedict with pulled pork on the biscuit, and I loved my choice. The pulled pork was a little dry, but everything else was spot on. The pesto and fresh tomato it was served with looked like a garnish, but don't skip it- it added a ton of interesting flavor to the dish. I did a hazelnut latte as well, which was good, although the flavor could have been stronger. Our server was very accommodating and patient while we worked through our friend's order. Just had an early lunch there at about 11:15 am. Service was quick and courteous. Food selection is just right... back and front of one menu. We both had the Quesadilla with bacon. It was filled with lots of thick bacon pieces. They were cooked correctly, kind of crunchy but not burnt. It came with very tasty cubed home fries. Properly cooked and seasoned. Server lady was attentive. She asked if I wanted hot sauce and when I was not sure which one, she brought four for me. Very nice! New place today. Trued it based on the left over quesadilla I had given to me, which was fabulous, even after reheating. Today's lunch was really good. Lunch quesadilla with chicken, hold tomatoes and pico, substituted rice for beans. Pork tamales with red/green chili, rice & beans Regular review: Excellent flavor and good portion size, stuffed full of chicken. Chicken overcooked and it was dry and tough. Tortilla was just about perfect. Cheese was a good flavor blend but smaller than needed to balance out the large chicken portion. Guacamole was made well, no tomatoes, no filler and no heat. Heavy on the lime to the point it over powered the avocado. About half the lime was needed. Not too salty. Red salsa was the thin and no tomato chunks at all. Good flavor and subtle heat that took several dips to notice. Green chili was very good flavor and consistency. Slight heat that grew. More heat than the red chili or red salsa. Pork tamales were just about perfect: great flavor and texture. No heat so you could add your own to taste with the red or green chili. Refried beans were also great: good flavor and consistency, topped with melted cheese. Server Adrian was attentive and checked on us often. Will definitely come back and try new modifications. Disabled review: I am mostly in a wheelchair, must avoid acidic, peppers & tomatoes, and have no top teeth. -Entryway access was fair with a turn, table seating was good and out of the traffic. Did not visit the restroom. Overall, it was a nice experience at Doug's Diner. First, our server made us laugh when we asked what was good and he said everything was popular. But once we narrowed it down he was happy to help us decide. Unfortunately he didn't refill our waters but did give us an iced tea to go after we asked. The food was okay too. The Huevos Rancheros were two eggs on top of a corn tortilla topped with green chili and cheese. Nothing special and tastes exactly like it sounds. The Hot Oats was honestly one of the worst foods I've ever tasted. Textually it was everything you could not want. We also ordered a basic breakfast and the turkey sausage while dense was flavorful with nice spice from green chilies. Biscuit is more bread like than your traditional flaky biscuits. It's was also dense and a little tough. Maybe we got a batch that was a little too over worked. The house made preserves are very good and The plum was our personal favorite. Don't forget to order a side of green chili it goes fantastic on anything! It's got a nice little kick too and the best part of the meal. The salad was the best part. Wish I could give this place a zero. To start with the coffee was way, way too strong to the point it was undrinkable, and, they charged $4.05 for it. Next the bacon in my meal was so over cooked it was like hard tack and I could hardly chew it. My wife bought a cinnamon roll to go and when we got home and opened it it was nearly burnt! Doug's is an interesting mix of greasy spoon meets, Mexican restaurant. The food is solid. The green chili is very much Colorado style for those of you who don't know it's almost more of a soup rather than the New Mexico more chopped green chili but it's worth a stop if you're hungry. The bacon was thick and was a little overcooked for my taste, but definitely edible. Wheelchair accessibility the tables are close together and the path of travel are not all clear, but there is a variety of seating options. The bathroom has are single stalls and are big enough although there's chairs in the hallway that makes the path a little bit tight. read more

I'll start off with a positive. The fries were very hot. I got what they call messy fries so green chili on your lunch fries they were pretty good. They were hot. My wife got a Reuben. She would give it a two. 80% bread this wasn't an eight dollar sandwich nor was it a $12 sandwich. This was a $15 sandwich. The Reuben was really an eight dollar sandwich priced at 15. I got a Doug's Club. It was a $15 sandwich as well I would say it was a $10 sandwich at best. Unfortunately, we didn't get the best meal maybe our next visit will change. We also waited quite a while for our food to come out. It was 1 o'clock in the afternoon. We've been here before usually breakfast and they've normally been pretty good. This was not a good experience at lunch although we usually eat at Doug's In Windsor. But when you go into a restaurant and drop $50 for lunch for two sandwiches, you would expect a good fat sandwich. That's not what we got. I guess the restaurant is dressed up pretty nice and clean. The staff did a good job. But there must've been some heartburn in the kitchen because they struggled getting our meal out to us. Best of luck in the future. read more

I ordered from here about a month ago. I am still just appalled about the service I received. I ordered a pick up order. Went in the back they directed me to the bar area. So i went up front and saw my order the lady ( middle aded with lots of tats on her leg) saw me. She was chatting with a guy seated up front by the bar. She continued to chat. I said cheerfully I think thats mine pointing to my food. She turned around and continued to chat. That is absolutely deplorable service. I was the only one there and it was clearly my food. This was a great diner I found on Yelp that had good reviews. We actually started with a decadent cinnamon bun (not pictured, attacked it before I was able to take a photo) recommended by our lovely waiter Jose. It was fluffy, hot, and smothered in delicious icing. My Huevos Rancheros was so good and flavorful. It came with two over easy eggs on corn tortillas topped with red chili sauce, some delicious refried beans, and ribbon potatoes. It also had an extra flour tortilla and some salad; a hearty plate of freshly made food. My husband's breakfast was equally delicious. We also had their delicious homemade biscuit with jam. This place was a great find and I highly recommend it if you are in the Fort Collins area. They have changed owners. This food is ,in my opinion as someone who went here often, has gone down in quality. The service I received today was extremely lacking. My coffee cup was empty for 30 mins. I had to wave down the waitress and ask about how much longer it would be for my breakfast, at that time I received more coffee. Seems Doug's has fallen victim to the standard "taking customers for granted" phenomenon where prices increase while food quality decreases. Staff is terrific, clean environment, decent table, but the food was below average. And this seems to be a trend with their various locations. About 10 years ago there would be a line out the door on a random weekday but it was only half full on a Saturday during lunch time; and I think I know why. People have figured out this location isn't worth the effort or cost. Specifically, fries have no flavor, sandwiches are bland, chicken tenders look like microwave crap (they used to be the best in CO), and the burritos are simply awful. No flavor and I question the freshness of the ingredients. Too many better options to consider returning until they raise their standards read more

My son suggested meeting here for breakfast before we headed back to Detroit and I am so glad he did. It certainly kept us full all day as we navigated the airport, and the flight home. We were there on a Monday morning so there was not a wait, even for a 6 top. The place was busy but not packed or on a wait. Everyone liked their food but the stand out was the bacon. On the side it was thick, cooked perfectly. On a burger, it was CHOPPED UP! Revolutionary! Nothing sucks more than biting into a burger and pulling the bacon out in the first bite. Not the case. First time here...very impressed with the cleanliness, including the kitchen. This is a deal breaker for me! Host was friendly and greeted us right away. Took us to our table and we had coffee and water within minutes. The ambiance is ok...kind of cafeteria'ish. (I know that's not a word). They tried hard with the photos on the walls. However, this does not detract from the food...simply amazing. Was very impressed I had Huevos Serranos with green chili turkey sausage. So big and so good. Everything was cooked to perfection. This place was just as good as the one in Greeley, but this one is in a better area. Doug's Day Diner has a variety of breakfast offerings. I was here for the Eggs Benedict and my wife came to try their breakfast . We arrived about 9;15 am on a Saturday. It was quite busy but only had a 15 minute wait. My review is only of the Benedicts, nothing else. The staff was polite and helpful. Amanda was my waitress. She took good care of me. With that in mind, I will let you know that have a "top ten" list for Benedicts. After my visit I was able to rate these "Bennys" in my top 10. #1 being the best and #10 not as good. Now with that said these were viewed as #1 of all the Bennys that I had tried in the Fort Collins area. (approximately 6 different places.) I found Doug's good enough to be #3 in my top 10 while holding on to the 5 star review. My rating is based on 3 weights : 70% = taste 20% = presentation 10% = price #1 - taste: They do use a thick piece of grilled ham. The eggs were a perfect easy. The Hollandaise sauce was made from scratch and had a very distinctive flavor and taste but not just a plain yellow sauce. The reason I review Eggs Benedict is because of the difference in the flavor of the Hollandaise sauce. Their hash browns were shredded in large strips. They appeared to be made fresh. They were lightly seasoned. All of this brought the review to 5 stars. #2 -presentation : It was great. They did come with pesto sliced tomatoes on the side. (unnecessary for me) #3-price: $11.25 is right in line with Bennys with hash browns. Coffee for $3.25 a cup seems to be the norm in a lotta places. I was happy to move these Bennys into 3rd place. My wife had 2 eggs over medium with hash browns and wheat toast. She also enjoyed her breakfast. She took a taste of the hollandaise sauce and agreed it was very flavorful. read more

We rolled in around 7:15pm with really an empty restaurant. Very clean place, super friendly staff with plenty of parking right out front. Any known breakfast joint I will usually just do the breakfast no matter the time of day, but decided to go against that tonight. I got the the Pam Burger and knew Doug's bacon was always on point. The Pam comes with thick cut bacon which was good, but not a fan of it all diced up on a burger. It also came with caramelized onion and blue cheese. My burger came a perfect medium and with a twist it was an oval burger and bun and not round. ‍ Worth a look next time you are out for dinner. read more
