In our family, Culligan now goes by the nickname, "C-word." All puns intended. Sorry, Grandma.
We've been asking ourselves...WHY did we stay with Culligan for 25 years???
They charge more than their competitors.
Despite the fact that we've more-than-paid for the malfunctioning machine we've been renting for a decade or so, we couldn't get an appointment for an emergency situation for three weeks... but no... miraculously they ARE available if we're willing to pay $100 to get someone to our house.
They communicate and ask me questions via an email channel that has a "do not respond to this email" disclaimer at the bottom.
They didn't show up to pick up their equipment, now uninstalled and waiting in my driveway, on the day THEY chose... and guess what... they just sent a bill for this month.

We are so happy with Elgin (they are great), but let's be honest... after years of terrible Culligan service to compare them to, Elgin could have arrived unannounced, two days late, driven over our front lawn, and run over our mailbox -- and we'd still have been happier with them than we were with Culligan. (BTW, they didn't. They were totally eager for our business, cheaper, communicative, efficient, professional, tidy, and on-time.) Go Elgin! read more
