Culinary Misfits should not be confused with Culinary Dropout, as their food and drinks are different, though the prices are similar. This cute restaurant is located in Crown Point, IN, and it's best to use GPS to avoid getting lost. The venue is nice and perfect for photos, with plenty of space. The bar has a lively atmosphere, and the food is good, with large portions. I ordered the Classic Smashburger and substituted the protein for an Impossible Burger. I expected to receive two patties since I had to pay an additional $4.00. While it's my choice to be a pescatarian, I still think that an extra $4.00 for a single patty is excessive, both here and at any restaurant. This brought the price of my burger from $18.00 to $22.00, which reflects the current costs of dining out. Overall, our server was really nice and accommodating. She was patient with us as we decided on what to order and even shared her favorite dishes, which helped us make our decisions. The others in my party ordered a Mushroom & Swiss Smashburger and a Tuscan Turkey Sandwich. I must say, the turkey sandwich (Shaved Oven Roasted Turkey) had so much turkey on it that it could have fed us for Thanksgiving, but we weren't complaining! It was generous, and she happily took home the leftovers. The drink we had was blah, it had peach deep eddy's, elderflower liqueur (which I love), citrus and a few other ingredients. I'll pass on that the next time, I think it had too much elderflower and not enough peach. We all enjoyed our food and the ambiance of the restaurant. We will definitely return when we are in the area, and I will be sure to recommend this place to my friends who live nearby. I would also consider throwing a small b-day celebration upstairs in the lounge. Thank you, Culinary Misfits, for a great lunch!

Went to an office party that was held in the upstairs area. Upstairs venue is beautiful and they have a full bar in this area. Plenty of seating and nice coat rack. They fell short with the food buffet situation. Food was set up near stairway. Tables were set up across from each other and tables wrapped around the corner. The food was set up in the walkway which was very dark. It was difficult to see the food. I feel like they need to rethink the buffet set up. This was the same set up as last year's party. I have to say that there was plenty of food but, many of the party goers did not leave the bar.

Walking into this restaurant the inside looks really updated and overall top notch. After waiting for a hostess for about 10 minutes - we were greeted and brought to our seats on a Friday night. There were plenty of open seats. I ordered a double vodka lemonade in a short glass but it was all lemonade - huge disappointment. We also ordered another drink which was underwhelming as well. As for the meals we felt like they were old tasting. I had the crispy chicken ceasar wrap and the wrap tasted old and was kind of crunchy and the chicken was like a kids chicken nugget met with an over amount of crunchy garlic - would not get again. We also got the most expensive bowl on the menu which was the salmon. Unfortunately it came to us completely overcooked. Wish we had a better experience!

Hot damn. I never thought I would love soup so much. That chicken pot pie is crazy good. Absolute star of the show. Wings and curds just ok. Burger wrap was good but all I could think about it the pot pie. Would come back here just for that. Mike provided great service and attention. Place is huge and had a good vibe. May come back tomorrow just for that pot pie is crazy

While I was back in town we stopped in for dinner and this place still rocks! Service is always really quick and the servers are good. I opted for a salad this time and the Baja salad did not disappoint.

Stopped in for dinner on Saturday and was seated right away. The atmosphere is awesome, lots of TVs and good vibes. We ordered the nacho appetizer and it was pretty good! Lots of toppings and the plating and unique. We shared pizza for our main and it was just okay, probably our fault for not ordering something more unique. They have a full bar with fun cocktails! We love coming here and will definitely be back!

We happened to find ourselves near Crown Point and in need of a meal, and we spotted Culinary Misfits while walking around the Square. I was impressed at their space - really clean and fun, and everything we had was really tasty. Our server was great, if a bit apologetic. I did find the prices a bit high, but that seems to be par for the restaurant industry these days. We started with ELOTE FRITTERS Fresh Roasted Sweet Corn + Chili + Lime + Cilantro + Cotija Cheese + Chipotle Aioli // $15 - really tasty! As soon as my husband saw they had Detroit Style Pizza, he encouraged us to order this: CHEESE Misfits Detroit Style Dough + House Marinara + Mozzarella // $17. Our dessert was great as well. I love that they have extensive alternative menus for vegan, vegetarian, and GF diets. I would totally return if I was in the CP area again.

Hubby and I arrived around the noon hour and discovered no breakfast was served at that hour. Back to the menu, discovered the lunch menu, while varied, was more pricey than we usually pay. Bobbi Jo gave us plenty of time to decide and as I noticed several menu items included Chipotle or jalapenos asked about the Chicken Tango. Hubby ordered the Fish & Chips, which came with French Fries. He also ordered coffee. Although there were few other customers, the meals took quite a bit of time--fast food it's not. Hubby's fish and chips were amazing. The beer batter was perfect, large serving, and the fish delicate and tasty. His fries were also excellent. On the other hand, I discovered my chicken was highly seasoned and the heat was more than I could do. I shared some of his fish and chips. There's a 3% surcharge with use of a credit card so this meal for two exceeded $50 including tip. Doubt we'll try again.

Culinary Misfits, is amazing. Was a a Yayw I love it too much to eat it raw and not have to worry about it being too much meat in the fridge for me to eat it in the morning or the next day. I am a grow man

Great atmosphere and freshly made delicious food. I had the chicken Florentine and it was excellent. My husband had the beef barley soup and classic smash burger and loved both. The other person in our party had the chicken pot pie soup and short rib grilled cheese and raved about them. The sandwich had so much brisket, he barely finished it. We will definitely be back!

Food was good, though overpriced. The kitchen seems pretty slow cranking out orders. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside.

When our food arrived, I cut into mine and it was extremely rare--so undercooked that one side of the patty was still pink. My son's burger was cooked correctly, so I know mine clearly wasn't. When our waitress checked on us, I explained the issue, and she politely apologized and took the burger back. A few minutes later, the manager on duty brought the same burger back upstairs, slammed it down, and asked with an attitude, "What is the problem?" I explained that it was undercooked and that I had ordered medium well. She then asked, "What do you want me to do with this?" while just standing there staring at me. After acting irritated, she asked if I wanted a new burger or wanted "this one" recooked. The idea of them recooking a burger I had already cut into and handled felt completely unsanitary. Her attitude throughout the interaction was awful. I declined a replacement, and she huffed that she'd remove it from the bill. Unfortunately, it got even worse. Just minutes later, an earwig crawled out of my friend's salad. We were horrified. We took a picture, caught the bug, and asked another server to get the manager. When she returned, she walked up with her hand on her hip and said, "Now what?" We handed her the napkin with the bug, and instead of apologizing, she opened it right there on the table, let the bug crawl out, scoffed at us, and said, "Fine, I'll take that off the bill too." At that point, my friend was covering her mouth in disgust after realizing she had been eating a salad with a bug in it. Rather than showing concern or professionalism, the manager snapped, "What do you want?! I didn't put the bug in the salad." I have never experienced such unsanitary conditions combined with such shockingly hostile customer service. Mistakes can happen, but the manager's behavior was beyond unacceptable. We left disgusted and will absolutely never return.

I and a few other family members were invited by my mother and by the time I walked out, I was wondering why this place wasn't packed wall‑to‑wall every night. Let's start with Monday's AYCE perch -- absolutely outstanding. Lightly breaded, perfectly seasoned, and fried just right. It's the kind of perch that makes you rethink every mediocre fish fry your uncle threw that your family tolerated. If you're a perch person, this is your new weekly ritual. Then came the walleye, WATCH OUT NOW, and honestly, my sister wasn't prepared. She said it was flaky, flavorful, and cooked with the kind of herbs & spices she recognized that said, "Yeah, we know exactly what the hell we're doing." "It's the kind of fish that makes you pause mid‑bite and appreciate life for a second." But the real surprise of the night? The bacon, mushroom, and American cheese hamburger -- unforgettable. This thing deserves its own billboard. Juicy, stacked, and unapologetically delicious. Every bite felt like a small celebration. On top of all that, the place is spotless. I mean impressively clean. Floors, tables, bar area -- everything looked like someone had just finished polishing it. You can tell the staff takes pride in the space. And speaking of the space... Yes, the building once housed a gentleman's club. But now? It's so clean, so friendly, and so well‑run that the only thing dancing is your taste buds. The only thing exotic here is how good the food is. Pivot Lounge has officially earned a spot on my "must return" list. Great food, great service, great atmosphere -- and a glow‑up story worthy of its own documentary.
