I came here for restaurant week with some girls and had a great time! The food did not disappoint. Huge fan of the cheese being heated by a candle so it doesn't get cold. The fish and chips was to die for. It is the best I have found in Charlotte so far. It is perfectly crispy and didn't come out soggy at all. I am usually not a huge dessert fan but the Mississippi mud pie was KILLER! I couldn't get enough of it. read more

First trip to CD. A beautified warm Friday night on the patio seating. The restaurant is large and busy but still intimate. The service is top notch and friendly. The food was delicious we started with the angus pigs in a blanket which were delicious and unusual the garlic crème fraîche. A delicious unusual dip. I ordered the steak frites which were cooked perfectly a nice deep smoke flavor not the beef minimal seasoning the frites perfectly cooked. she ordered the meatloaf. Which was also delicious. For dessert, the apple monkey bread aka mode Nicely spiced and not too sweet a delicious end. Over all a definite A+. Looking. Forward to going back. read more

This place was AMAZING. I went specifically for the short rib which i saw online and it did not disappoint. Probably the best one I've ever had. I subbed one of the sides for fries and turns out the fries were divine too!! I cant remember the server's name (maybe Todd?) but service was impeccable. I will never forget this meal and it will be a MUST whenever I am back in Charlotte!!! read more

I've been here a few times and each time, they never disappoint me! Can honestly say that I'm a big fan. This go round I went with coworkers for lunch. Quick walk from the office and we were there. Salmon was good and awesome friendly service! Love them read more

I've been to this spot for both lunch and dinner, and it never disappoints. Dinner was especially fun -- they had two singers going back and forth, the place was packed, and the vibe was amazing. I've ordered the steak frites for both lunch and dinner (yes, it's that good), and they'll even split it onto two plates if you're sharing. The Caesar salad is solid, but you MUST try the shrimp crispy rice -- seriously, it's the best I've ever had. Perfectly crunchy, flavorful, and totally addictive. The espresso martinis are delicious, and the service has always been consistently great. Honestly, everything here hits. Highly recommend! read more

The food, the service, the ambience, the entire experience was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious -- the eggs were perfectly soft and fluffy, the bacon was cooked just right with the perfect crisp, and the breakfast potatoes were seasoned to perfection. every bite tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The salmon dish was equally impressive, packed with rich flavor and beautifully presented. The service was warm and welcoming. The ambience truly tied it all together -- classy, cozy, and upscale with a beautiful modern dining atmosphere that made brunch feel like a special occasion. read more

I really liked this place! Noah, our server, was awesome! Great service and food/drink recommendations. Our whole party did not make it, so we had 5ppl instead of 8. On my visit, the layout visual was you had guests outside, inside you had a private mixer in a private room, ppl at the bar, a great entertainer performing. It seems the seating layout had a quiet, low key vibe side and a bright, lively side. We were on the low key side and that helped with conversations. The reasons why I chose 4 stars were: 1. We were sat at the wrong table by the host. 2. Our menus were clean but very wet 3. Food portions were on the smaller size 4. Duck and shrimp fried rice was gone 5. No dessert menu suggested/offered Try this place! And I will be back! read more

Came here for lunch with a friend and the appetizers and drinks were the stars! We had the Spicy Shrimp Crispy Rice and Crispy Brussels Sprouts--both were amazing. I had the Crispy Chicken Katsu (good, but I'd skip the thick milk bread next time). Veggies were super fresh. My friend had the Pub Burger, but it was overcooked and disappointing. Drinks were great--loved the Summer Tan Sangria and Juicy Watermelon Spritz. Service was excellent, the vibe was cute, and parking was easy with validation or mobile pay. Would definitely return for apps, drinks, and the atmosphere! read more

First off, I love the name of this place (which is why we chose it to begin with). Dropout's atmosphere is super casual with a total hip vibe. The staff is very laid back and friendly. Our server Justin asked a few questions and gave us some great recommendation. I went with the prime rib sandwich --- and it was amazing. I also requested their version of ranch dressing for my fries (totally recommend). My friends ordered a custom charcuterie board (what they're known for) and short ribs. We all sample each other's meals and all were outstanding. I highly recommend. read more

Hard to write this as I went to the actual same culinary school as Fox, but this concept is struggling to say the least. Bacon wrapped shrimp app and salmon were practically inedible. Hard to tell management from staff as they are all wearing street clothes for the shift. Figured out whom the manager was after we say him hand the card key to the server to comp the salmon, but of course did not hear from him directly over the kitchen fail. After this and ATL location earlier in the year, not even sure I will go back to Scottsdale.... Shame! read more

I say reviews start from the first moment you walk into an establishment. Great atmosphere, not too loud but lively! From the first moment we were welcomed in and seated within 2 minutes! I recommend a reservation! The server was extremely nice! We ordered the whipped feta and tahini dip!! This was out of this world! Amazing flavor and great balance of textures, the bread was very well buttered and charred, great spread of tahini and apricot and strawberry! Plate was chilled! Only thing I would ask is for more basil for every bite, so they brought more out for me!! We then ordered the vegan curry and the salmon. The bowls were warm, and food was a great temp. The curry had an amazing flavor and good spice level, not overwhelming. The salmon was a bit under, closer to rare than medium rare but great flavor. We rated salmon a 7.9, curry 8.2, and feta is a 9! Total rating is a 9, the best thing was the personal interactions and the manager and our server, Mia, regularly coming over to check on us! read more

The atmosphere in this restaurant had a great city vibe. There is a bar in the middle with plenty of TVs to watch anything you want. This would be great for any gameday. When we arrived for brunch on a Saturday, it was not busy at all which was nice. Our server was friendly and gave us time when needed to decide on our orders. All of the food options were tasty. The pizza was a little greasy, but that's expected with Detroit Style. The dip is a great appetizer to start with and has a salty and sweet combo with the strawberries. The mud pie is very rich, so be prepared to share with family or friends (or eat it all yourself). Overall, this is a great spot to get brunch or catch a sports game with friends. I'd definitely recommend to anyone who wants some good food with a laid back atmosphere in Charlotte. read more

Ribs were amazing, my wife got the steak which she loved as well. Waitress was attentive and helpful w drink recommendations.

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Eric who was working the bar 7/9. I lost my card and was pretty sure I left it there but when I returned I couldn't find it and Eric couldn't either after spending a good amount of time thoroughly looking - which I very much appreciated. I left my name and number in case they found it but I wasn't hopeful and was leaving town the next day. Eric found it and gave me a call a couple hours later. He even offered to run it out to me if I called and let them know I was near so we wouldn't have to deal with parking. I've never had a server go above and beyond like this. I would highly recommend this place on service alone but the food was great too! Thank you again Eric! You are the best! read more

There is no way this chef didn't finish culinary school. The food was fantastic!! All three meals my party ordered were fabulous and had a unique flavor profile. We started with the pretzels with a provolone cheese fondue that was relit at the table to keep it melted. The pretzels were bite side bubbles and super soft and chewy. For my main, I ordered the fish and chips and loved the batter used for the fish. The coleslaw was so good!! They have a patio and the interior is quite large with plenty of natural sunlight. We didn't have a reservation but they were quick to seat us. They also validated parking at the end of the meal. read more

Let's start with the good! The staff was amazing! Amanda, our waitress was super bubbly & knowledable about the menu! I enjoyed her aura IYKYK! The host was welcoming and friendly (did his job!)! The decor is very romántic & vibessssss! Onto the food - the pork belly nachos were slapping! Now the bad -- I ordered the fried chicken and lets just say that the chef [maybe] aint listen to his grandes because .... The chicken was a bit overbreaded and the taste wasn't remarkable -- my cousin got the fish and chips and mentioned that it was a bit undercooked and could have used a douse of lemon juice ‍ Now the ugly -- I ordered the spicy margarita and it was probably my favorite drink! Nothing ugly about that! I couldn't finish it cause in a lyteweight [sic] but i couldn't take it home in a plastic cup how ugly! I'd return for drinks and vibes! read more

Parking was difficult, but we found a parking deck. It was close by. The restaurant is beautiful. They spent a great deal of time making sure the interior was right. I had my heart set on Spicy Rigatoni, but they were out of it when I ordered. I picked the Mongolian Beef. It was good. I also tried the Dropout Classic Mule. It was good. I would visit this restaurant again. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. read more

We recently relocated to Charlotte from Raleigh and found a wonderful apartment so close to downtown. We figured that a great way to learn about our city is to walk around. After 10 minutes of walking we found ourselves feeling peckish and discovered this watering hole. Of course I checked Yelp to see how it rates and we were glad it garnered a 4 star rating. That convinced us to try the place out. We were in that hungry but not ravenous state so we ordered a somewhat light -ish meal. My wife ordered the roasted salmon with risotto and truffles while I ordered the steak frites. Prior to that we ordered a bowl of their "made from scratch" chicken noodle soup. We ended our meal with their Cinnamon Apple Brioche with Vanilla ice cream. So here are our ratings The salmon is a solid A-. The tangy green sour pesto sauce over the salmon made the dish sing! The bed of truffle risotto was divine. And the serving size was just about perfect. The steak frites were amazingly tasty and I wish it was a slightly bigger serving. Definitely will go back for it. I'll give the dish an A- as well. The chicken soup was unusual but tasty. It's not quite what mom served when I was sick but it was an elevated version (or gourmet-fied). Wasn't quite my favorite but it hit the spot on a cloudy early evening. Solid B. But for me, the piece de resistance was the cinnamon apple brioche dessert. It was deliriously addictive that I was this close to ordering a second serving. That dessert alone was worth the visit by itself! A++. The ambiance has a very lounge-y feel to it. But not too bourgeois that it attracts the snooty crowd. Still very welcoming for young families and the yuppie crowd. Over all, I give the place a solid 4 1/2 star. But since Yelp does not allow fractional grades, I'll score this place a solid red 4 stars. Worth the visit. read more

This place is a must! If I lived locally I would definitely be a regular! We enjoyed the outdoor dinning, we did not realize how big it was inside, until we went inside to use the restrooms. The inside is absolutely beautiful and the rooms you can reserve for events are just amazing! It was cool that it gives you an upscale vibe with the laidback vibe, since the staff gets to wear their own style! Seriously wish we could get a Culinary Dropout in South Florida! So before visiting I had stalked the menu and the provolone fondue made me decide this was going to happen, but of course our plans went wonky and Culinary Dropout ended up being our breakfast/brunch option instead of the intended afternoon/dinner stop. But OMG! Brunch did not disappoint! The brunch pizza (really called sausage, bacon & egg pizza) had the oh so mighty provolone fondue on it, along with smoked onion alfredo, mozzarella cheese, hash brown and arugula. I would kick off the arugula, but just wow! So bomb! So bomb, we wanted to go back the next day, but we didn't have time! So we also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast burrito, also sporting the provolone fondue, so I got what I came for, for sure! The kids both raved about the banana bread french toast, especially the chantilly! So the food was a complete success and so were their drinks! I started with the wellness retreat, since every single ingredient are my favs, it was good, but when I stepped out of my box to try the playboi stache, I fell in love! Mmmm! Our wonderful waiter also mentioned a complimentary dessert for our birthday girl! We chose the monkey bread, which the apples added in made it quite unique! So yeah, this place rocks! I really hope they venture south to me! read more

live music was cool, and it was a cool looking place, but the locals sitting next to us saying this was one of the last places they'd usually go in charlotte was a little foreshadowing of the rest of the evening. service was good but they also looked a little understaffed, all the food for the rest of my party came out pretty quickly but the fish and chips took probably around 40 minutes to come out, the server communicated with us about it so i wasn't upset. but then they were so salty once they finally hit the table, it was pretty much inedible. just seemed a little over priced and a little overrated. read more
