Great service, kind staff, and good food. Very nice drink presentation. Cool murals, my parents had fun taking photos with them. Thursdays are ladies night if you didn't already know, we definitely did not. My dad enjoyed karaoke. Bathrooms looked clean but smelled absolutely awful. I don't know how much the restaurant could've done about that though. Also, bathrooms need more light. I have good vision and even I couldn't see inside the stall very well. Overall, good experience. The quesabirria is ok. It tastes pretty much like roast beef though. The meat is very tender, but it lacks any special seasoning. It is really like roast beef. The camaron cocido tostado is a lot better. Imagine ceviche on a tostada, topped with a generous helping of avocado. (we asked for the green sauce instead of the black sauce, since it was spicier) The service is OUTSTANDING! Very friendly, helpful, and attentive staff. The only comment I want to add, is that a bottle of Modello is $6. That's kinda like downtown prices. Bottom line - I'll go back, but I won't go out of my way for it. It's too pricey. read more

I won a September birthday giveaway for Culichis. So I had a nice joint birthday lunch here on a Sunday. The food and service was good. It was pretty quiet when we went but still had a good time with my group. We got hooked up with birthday shots from a cute duck and birthday cheesecake with party candles. It was a Friday in San Antonio, Texas !! Me and my friend just settled into our hotel rooms and agreed it was now that we needed to eat ,lol. Our hotel didn't have a restaurant attached, so we had to venture off into sizzling streets of Texas to search for nourishment,lol. Luckily for us there was a mini mall next to our hotel. We stumbled across Culichis & Beer!! Culichis is one of the few seafood Mexican restaurants in San Antonio. Due to it being Friday, they offered 50% off maragitàs!! We didn't indulge, but from what I saw, they looked good. We got queso and chips, and the queso reminded me of like a Mexican fry cheese, not as drippy as we would have liked. They had all sorts of sushi, including a hot cheeto flavored one, but we decided to go with tacos!! I got chicken, shrimp, and their special chopped shrimp with cheese and pico. Unfortunately, the chicken and regular shrimp lacked seasoning, and the special shrimp was a little too salty. However, due to this being a seafood Mexican restaurant, we probably should have tried...ya know seafood !! But the servers were very nice and accommodating and we loved the esthetics !! I'm not sure if I'd visit again bc I'm more of a taco girl, but if you uniquely flavored sushi with Mexican twists, give them a try read more

Sinaloan seafood and beer! This place specializes in seafood from the Southern Mexican state of Sinaloa. They have lots of different platters and seafood bowls, but I went for the shrimp boil, served spicy. The service was amazing. They sat us at the bar, where we got one on one attention from the bartender. We were the only ones in there for most of the meal, except for the staff, and a six piece band! The music and the artwork were wonderful. I'd go back for the music! The band was LOUD. They played great covers of Vicente Fenandez, Selena, Richie Valens, all the hits. They had a tuba, trombone, a whole brass section! The food was delicious- it was sorta spicy. The shrimp was really hard to peel, and I made a complete mess of myself and the table. First time visit! (Ordered ahead for pick up) THE LOCATION: In a very busy shopping center so ample parking is available. THE AMBIENCE: Large, open dining area. The kitchen is situated at the very back of the restaurant, but awkwardly. Makes me think this could be a huge disadvantage to the workers, especially when it's busy. They'll def get their exercise in, though! Check it out and you'll see what I'm talking about. Even worse, it's where the cash register is located so it's where I'm led to pay. The dining hall has just one occupied table during this lunch hour. Hope it picks up. THE MENU: If you check out their menu online, there are some crazy cool dishes that bring foods from different regions of Mexico. Don't think that because you've dined on chicken enchiladas and love a fajita that you know what I'm talking about. Mexico is diverse and rich in flavors that vary region to region. This place boasts a menu that will serve you selections that you may not be familiar with. And that's what I love! New restaurants pop up all the time, but for the love of all that is holy... show me something new! Delight my palate with something magical! THE FOOD: We chose to sample the Quesabirrias tacos and Carnitas de Puerco. The tacos come with a consommé that we chose to dip the tacos in. Very good! The carnitas isn't as fresh and crispy as it should've been. The chunks are large and I end up having to use my fingers to eat into the pieces. The fresh pico de gallo and charro beans are a nice touch. The habanero salsa was not "habanero spicy" at all. Matter of fact, it was so thick and sat at the bottom of the plastic take-out ramekin container and looked like it has been sitting in the refrigerator for a while and did not appear fresh. Bummer. Was really wanting to love it. OVERALL: the price we paid for such a small lunch was more than I felt comfortable spending ($40) but was nice to try something new. Delicious! Simple, excellent interior Mexican food. My husband and I were blown away. The papas endiabladas, volcanes, enmoladas, and carnitas de puerco were amazing. The potatoes were small roasted potatoes in an adobo, chipotle, lime sauce. The Volcanes were amazing, one of the best tostada chips I've ever had in my life! And the Carne Asada was very tender. The Carnitas de puerco were amazing as well, slow stewed meat perfectly seasoned. The chicken enmoladas were in a true brown molé sauce. Also they bring out these Fried corn cakes with excellent salsa's; caution the sauces are very spicy. I am very sorry, I did not get a picture of the pork. read more

We stop to see the place after reading some reviews and seeing photos of some delicious looking plates .. We decided to order in and we were not disappointed with the selections on the menu .. decided on 2 Stuff Shrimp Empanadas for starters while we waited for our sushi rolls which were as delicious as they looked plus the Cold Modelo Beer just made them even tastier.. First time and tik tok led me to it and YOU have to go! It's a small spot within the shopping center with a solid menu with plenty of variety and a fire atmosphere. The music and drinks were LIT! This was probably the best feature to me as when you walk in it's immediately an up neat vibe. You kinda get a mature club atmosphere with the stage and they had a band playing all night. The only issue we had was wishing they had a mirror or TV up because you literally had no view... you are staring at the wall or the bar tenders. Our meal had a little hock up and we had to wait much longer tab expected for what we ordered but nonetheless the staff was nice and attentive. The food taste and portions to me was okay. I ordered the chicken tacos, shrimp Hulk' tostado. Hubby had the quesadilla. We were surprised when both othered came on one place. Either everywhere else calls it wrong but the quesadillas was a mini taco. My husband thought it would be the traditional quesadilla with several cheese filled circle shape but this was a mini taco. We had to order more food. I did not love the hulk. It was missing flavor and I love love ceviche but but the shrimp was just too raw and milly tasting for me. Therefore, I was not wowed at all by the food but maybe we just didn't order the right thing to truly see there expertise and wow plates. 3 drinks, 4 tacos, was about $70. I forgot the chips and salsa was delicious. The service we received was good and we will definitely be back again. Large and newly opened restaurant with a lovely setting and a great menu. Mexican specialties from the North, Central and Southern areas of Mexico. Delicious homemade lemonade and complimentary corn pancakes started off our meal. Three kinda of salsa and the verde was hot and delicious. We had the Birria Quesidillas and the Mini Carne Asada plate. Both were fresh, hot and delicious. They have a homemade cake for dessert, but we were too full to try it! Next time for sure. read more

The food was good. Very fresh. Not typical Tex Amex so don't come here expecting what a lot of us know as "Mexican" food. I did talk with the owner and he said it was traditional old Mexico cuisine. I will definitely come back but this won't be a place I frequent often, not because it wasn't good but just because of my own personal preference and cravings per se. Overall the restaurant was clean except the menu's, which were very dirty and wet with something. The only other downfall, for me personally, is our waitress only spoke Spanish and my Spanish isn't so great but I managed. The place only had two other couples there while we were there so it wasn't crowded at all. read more

Drove from North Austin and was disappointed! The food was great it did taste fresh hence the 2 stars. However, way over priced for what you get. To start off when we ordered our drinks my boyfriend got his Corona beer and I never received my Coronarita. After like 5 minutes I see the manager walking around asking every table how we were doing. When it was our turn, I let him know that I was still waiting on my drink. I see him go over to the bar and ask my waitress and she shook her head as in saying "no." I'm not sure if she forgot about me but then she proceeds to bring one over. Moving to the food, my boyfriend again got his food (Campechana) first and as the waitress was walking away I asked, mine is coming? She said "yes, I'll go get it." After another 10min. I told my bf to start eating that it was ok, not to worry about me. Waitress then comes to our table and deeply apologizes stating that my dish was accidentally given to another table but that she has the cooks getting my food ready asap. Another 5 min pass by then my food arrives. I ordered the fajitas mix which did not come with any side dishes or garnish such as sour cream, lettuce, pico nor salsa. Only meats in sizzle pan and 4 corn tortillas. Waitress then apologizes again for the delay and proceeds to say that they are all tired because the stayed up working till 7am of the same day. I was so surprised and asked are you guys opened 24 hrs? She said no but there was music due to their grand opening and some patrons would not leave and stayed until that morning consuming from the night before. She said that all they did was go home shower and started their new shift only hours later. So she apologized again for the troubles about my food order being delayed. Lastly the bill comes and I see that 1 corona beer was charged at $3.75 and the 2nd one is charged at $6 when I let my waitress know of the discrepancy she says, "oh no I'm so sorry let me get this fixed" when she comes back with the new receipt it was actually a higher amount, both beers are charged at $6 a piece. I then asked to speak with the manager and he gave me some story about how the system was messed up because they just opened the establishment and that the beers are actually $6 each. I asked him do you not honor the price on the first receipt? He really did not have an answer he just said that the beers were $6 each because they were imported.Hmm! I also asked about the automatic 15% gratuity added to my bill when it was just 2 of us. He tells me "oh yes we usually only automatically add gratuity for parties of 8+. I said ok but its here and its only 2 of us ( our bill was $70 + tax and $10.55 unauthorized added gratuity). He tells me word by word in spanish, "Oh just get it out of your head don't think about it, just remove that off the gratuity you are going to leave her." I say but what if I didn't want to leave her 15%. I only said this because the service lacks customer service and there is much room for improvement. He just stares at me looking confused because it seems this is something they must practice always because in reality how many patrons really check their receipts and bring up discrepancies? My boyfriend proceeds to tell him just give me my card back, "Ya nos chingaste ya que" And we left. As a person who works in the management service field, you must work hard to problem solve and keep customers satisfied especially as a newly opened business. Not coming back here myself. If you do, be sure to check your receipts because they clearly add charges without your consent. read more

The food is absolutely delicious, we got the Vallarta tostada, a California Roll & the Quesadillas with Shrimp I can't wait to come back and try more. Their Paloma is refreshingly delicious and served in a classic Jarro. the staff is super attentive, we sat at the bar and the bartender was tremendously helpful & welcoming! The manager was also on top of everything , and making sure everyone was not only enjoying their meal and beverages but also the live music & ambiance.They had two different live bands, they also have a DU, clean & gorgeous space. It was alright. The ambiance is great if you want to hear Mexican music. They have a live banda and they played great songs. The waitresses were great and their service was prompt. The food and drinks though weren't that great. I ordered a Piña colada and it wasn't what I expected. I've tried better Piña coladas elsewhere. My husband had a michelada and he wasn't impressed either. The sushi was good but not great. The food and service is really good. I tried the ceviche and they use very fresh ingredients. So fresh that the shrimp are still changing color when they give it to you which I was impressed by. I also had the molcajente which has delicious cheese, chorizo, shrimp, chicken, and steak strips. Not the cheap steak either it was nice and tender. Only critique is the food seems to be a bit pricey, but the ambiance is nice basically a salsa bar with a stage for a live band. read more
