Saturdays seems to be the senior citizen night, everyone seemed to know each other. At first, each singer did 2 songs each but then they started having a 1 song deal. Come 1 and come all because there's good and bad singers alike here. I had the mini tacos of Asada with grilled onions and cilantro and they were awesome.Nice little hidden gem. This is a no-frills establishment with solid food. On this visit, I ordered a beef fajita taco salad and an iced tea. My entree came with beef, cheese, sour cream, and slices of avocado. Straightforward food, nothing fancy but good. I don't recommend the iced tea. It had an odd flavor, possibly from the water. Next time I'll get a margarita instead. Those looked great! read more

I ordered the first thing I was familiar with and asked for Togo with the ranchero sauce separated. I got the $7.99 Huevos rancheros with bacon plate totaling around $8.65 Understanding that I may have toppled the plate, i took a pic prior to eating and forgot to pour the ranchero sauce. When i did, I had to try. I selfishly forgot to take a pic. The ranchero sauce was delicious. Thank you, Luis, for making sure my order was right. My eggs were over medium, food was nice and HOT. I was in the Leon Valley area and decided to try Amiga Cafe. It was late afternoon on Saturday, so the restaurant wasn't very busy, but it was very clean and welcoming. Veronica was my server and she took very good care of me. She told me that they were known for their fajitas, and they make everything in-house from scratch. At her recommendation, I decided to order the Huarache Compuesto, a thick corn tortilla covered with refried beans, beef fajita, lettuce, tomato, queso fresco, avocado, and sour cream. It was delicious!!!!! I could only eat about a third of it while I was there and was worried about how it would taste since I wouldn't really be able to heat it up. But the leftovers were almost as delicious at room temperature as it was when I was eating there onsite. If you're looking for a great mom & pop Mexican restaurant, you can't go wrong with Amiga Cafe. I will definitely be back to try more items from their menu! read more

I had three tacos - chilaquiles with green sauce ( this is not with eggs) but had cheese and onions - really enjoyed this one! Machacado with egg ala mexicana - also a very good taco! Went in on Friday evening around 6 o'clock . was craving Street tacos and this was close to the shopping area that I was going to . the waiter asked if I wanted to add cheese and avocado to my plate. knew this was going to be an up charge but not what I was going to be Told at the register ! you get five mini tacos with your choice of meat. I had the beef fajita comes with grilled onions, one grilled jalapeño raw onions, cilantro for about 10 bucks. I took a couple of my tacos home as I cannot finish all of them came out to $20, I was confused as to why asked the cashier I was charged $499 for three slivers of avocado. I understand there's an up charge for avocado but not $4.99 for three slivers of it. I will never go back there again I should've known when I walked in as there was only three tables being serviced mine being one of them on a Friday evening. Had breakfast here this morning with my grandma and kids, and it was such a great experience! The food was amazing--everything tasted homemade, and you could tell they use fresh ingredients. I had the chilaquiles, and they were SO good. The tortillas were homemade, and everything had that perfect balance of flavor, like a real home-cooked meal. Came in around 2:45pm and it was almost empty. We always dodge the lunch and dinner rush. Seat yourself type of place. $5 margs and $5 16oz drafts all day, So already liking this place! Our server was attentive and answered all of our questions. We opted for the Poblano Mole Chicken entree, the house red enchiladas and a puffy taco. It was all fresh! Some of the best Mole (more savory than sweet) I've had while in San Antonio. Even the rice and beans had a ton of flavor. That puffy taco went down in like 3 bites. The red sauce on the enchiladas was not from a can and had a nice tang to it. The enchilada had 3 types of cheese on it and the corn tortillas were made in house so it tied it all together. I noticed that many good reviews for the restaurant are completely lies. I think that they pay for good reviews. Because when I try the food, is the opposite. The salsas are watery, tortillas are hard and old, the food taste nothing but lots of salt. I had to throw away all the food that we ordered to go for my family. It was disgusting. The bag it came was so greasy that the taco fell out of the bag , the napkins were soaked of grease and the tortilla was soaked and fell apart because it was wet of grease. These people need to be retrained or given a course of making food the won't kill the customers by feed greasy food. If you won't eat it yourself, then don't serve it. I tried out this place based on the great yelp reviews (thanks, guys!) and let me just say - the food did not disappoint. Usually when you order an appetizer of nachos from a restaurant, you get maybe 6-10 tortilla chips with beans/cheese. As you can see in the photos, that was not the case here! The portion was huge! A side of jalepenos, sour cream, AND guacamole were included in the base price which was awesome. I also ordered a side of chips and salsa - both of which were great. Chips were fresh and salsa has a nice kick to it. The lemonade was also freshly squeezed, which is my favorite. Will definitely be ordering again! read more

Amiga amiga!! I got to this place several times a month. The location has been many different restaurants. Hopefully more people check this place so it doesnt go away. I usually order tacos. But today to eliminate the tortilla i had a plate. It was really good. And also was only 5.99. Food is just average, but the mistake we made was going during karaoke night. Bunch of 60-80 yr olds doing their best to destroy classic songs. Typical karaoke I guess and it's cool if that's your thing, BUT the music and the meowing was Sooo stinking loud and just non-stop; no breaks at all. So we couldn't have a nice conversation with anyone at our table which basically ruined dinner. I got the impression that a big group of karaoke lovers like to go there specifically for that. We're actually planning to have breakfast at Sari-sari, however it was too late for us to realize it's too early, they are still close around 9:30 on a Saturday morning. We could have decided to eat breakfast at our usual great place down in Potranco, El Rodeo de Jalisco. We ended up here relying on great review and star rating. Great service, nice and clean facility and the food is okay. It's actually on the bland side. This is an honest review since we are used to how great tasting the food is down there at El Rodeo de Jalisco. We are also missing the nacho chips served from El Jalisco once we get seated while waiting on our ordered food. They don't offer that here. The three stars rating are all for customer service and nice and clean place. The food is not bad but compared to El Jalisco, there's not really a lot of flavor here at Amiga Cafe. Just want to make sure it's not really a bad review but we hope they add more flavor on their food. I finished my juevos rancheros because one, I was starving and two I don't want to waste food. We'll see if we could give Amiga Cafe another chance, maybe next time. read more

Some of the best food we've had! Puffy Tacos we're amazing and the beef enchiladas has so much flavor. We tried the pambazo for the first time and there wasn't a bite left! So they didn't give us extra bacon on the bacon egg and cheese, just one very measly piece of bacon? Also all the cheese and bacon was on one end of the taco, I could understand that accidentally in one taco but all three of the double bacon egg and cheese were like that. They also didn't include the second chorizo and potato. The tortillas didn't taste as good as I would expect them to taste, kinda rubbery. The hot sauce was pretty mild. read more

Like when I Ordered their flauta plate, all they do is put 3 plain flautas, rice and beans and the plate does not look enticing at all it's missing the salad ! This place is 6 stars ! Don't be fooled by the unassuming location in a strip mall .. this place hits the nail on the head in so many ways . The menu is amazing and has a good mix of classic Mexican dishes like sopes and gorditas while incorporating a few of their unique touches . The salsas were both increíble ... really really exceptional . Service was on point , our waitress was really nice , and the owner came out to talk with us as well . Sitting in the place you start to realize the owner knows people by name because they have so many regulars ... and I can see why.. amazing food , to the point ... Food was excellent. My Shrimp Taco Plate was superb and my wife's Pambazo was very good and very affordable at $6.99. Their is a heavy reliance on cheese here, so those that are lactose intolerant may have issues. Service, on the other hand, was subpar. Our waitress was nice enough but, after bringing our food, she never stopped back to our table. Which was a shame since my drink remained empty for half my meal. The manager did eventually come by, but it was much too late to bother at that point. Also, the whole situation with the bill was very weird. When you are done with your meal you are expected to get up and go to the counter to pay. No bill is presented. And no one tells you this. So we sat at our table waiting for someone to bring a bill for a good 10 - 15 minutes needlessly When we finally did ask for the bill, and were sent to the counter, still no bill is presented. You're just given a total and asked for payment. This means you have no chance to review and confirm you're being charged correctly or to calculate a tip ahead of time. This is just a bad business practice and needs to be changed. I don't think I've ever seen such a poor billing practice before in my life. read more

Wow the food was delicious. I had the mini tacos which were the equivalent of food truck tacos so it was the best. My mom ordered the Cheese Chile Relleno and ate all of it which says a lot because my elderly does not like to eat too much but she loved the food. Very authentic and happy! read more
