Love the aroma as soon as you drive up. Super good butter chicken and garlic naan. The service is always great!

We had such a great experience at Pono Hukilau--this place truly delivered on every level. From the…read moremoment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed, with that perfect coastal Hawaiian fusion vibe that just fits so well. The food was outstanding across the board. The kids' fish and chips were a pleasant surprise--made with real rockfish, which you don't always see on a kids' menu, and it was done perfectly. Emma loved her sushi roll, and LaRue's shrimp sliders were packed with flavor and cooked just right. I went with the panko fried prawns along with the Hawaiian pulled pork, and both were absolutely excellent--crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. Even the appetizer set the tone for the meal--it was clear right away that they care about quality. What really stood out, though, was the combination of great food and great service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable without being overbearing. Overall, this was one of those meals where everything just clicked--food, service, and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back, and it's an easy recommendation for anyone looking for something a little different with really solid execution.

The Hukilau is a fun, festive classic staple in Florence, Oregon. This restaurant you walk in and…read moreit just feels fun. It feels welcoming. The staff are so wonderful. The attitudes are positive. This restaurant feels like a good time. The prices have gone up. I blame the economic conditions rather than the owners themselves. The food sometimes I feel like the sauce is too much or the food is too sweet or too salty. I don't feel that the food is super consistent every time I go. I love supporting local business owners. I love the story of the restaurant how it started as a food truck. I just wish the food was more consistent when you order.

Yum! I didn't see anything on the menu that I didn't want to try. When we saw them parked next to…read morethe Office Depot on a Friday midday, we had to try. The trailer they're in needs some love but don't let that deter you. And they'd just had a lunch rush so they were already out of a couple things (at 12:20!) but she let us know right away so we didn't try to order something that was out. We got a chicken tender basket and a sweet heat honeybird sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. First - the mac is amazing. I haven't tried a new mac I've really liked in awhile, the crunchy fried bits on top were a great addition. The sandwich... well it was bit large! But its worth it. Probably could have had a little less of the bacon pimento cheese on it, seeing as most of it seemed to have squeezed out of it haha. Also, there wasn't much heat but there was a ton of flavor. Husband really enjoyed the tenders and his jo-jos, the hushpuppies were quite yummy too! Would like to try them again when they aren't out of things to try something new!

The Habanero was the perfect amount of heat to flavor ratio. The service was fast and very friendly. (Thank you Sweat-Heat. ) My only challenge was the digital presence. Their menu wasn't mobile friendly and their locations listed could be improved for accuracy, but if you find them you gotta try them. The Hushpuppies and Sweat Heat sandwich will have me bringing the kids next time! Their prices were very reasonable and less than some other chicken chains Opening up in the area.

We stopped and checked it out. They have a good variety of smoked foods. The menu out front has all the choices except some special items at the window. My husband picked a pulled pork sandwich with sweet sauce and bbq beans and I picked the small slider meal with spicy sauce and Mac and Cheese. The food took no time and we got our meals. The pork is real and perfectly smoked-enough to be tasty yet not too smoky. I'm not a fan of smoke flavor but loved this flavor. The servings were generous. When you finish the sandwich, you will be full! We actually left most of the bun and ate the meat by itself to enjoy the meat flavors. The sandwich with sauce and one side was $9 and the slider was $5 with sauce and one side. They have a combo plate for $12.50 so you can try all the meats. I would definitely recommend the Oregon Smoke Shack! The food is real and real good. We will be back!

I wasn't super impressed with this place. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't fabulous either. The customer service is really what killed it for me. There was an older lady working at the window, and mind you, this is at the fair. So being able to hear anything is next to impossible. Plus she was several feet higher than me inside the trailer, and my voice isn't loud enough to travel far in the first place. The thing I noticed was that she seemed seriously pissed to even be there. That added with the fact I couldn't hear her over a million screaming kids on a ride ten feet away, and communication was difficult made me feel like I should have just canceled my order and gone somewhere else. The thing I remember most is she asked me what kind of sauce I wanted, spicy or sweet, and I really didn't care. Either one was fine with me, I just wanted to get my food and leave, and she angrily yelled at me to pick one. I order a chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw. It was moist and tender, but desperately needed salt. The coleslaw was bland as well, and just really mediocre. If you don't enjoy what you do, it shows in the food, and the old woman's nasty attitude showed up in the food as well. Would I return? Nope. Food was three star, at best. Customer service was one star. So it averages out to a two star review, and there's absolutely no reason to return to any two star business. You gotta do better than that with me.
