It shot up to $224 (51%) from May to this April 2022 when it shot up another 33% to $300+. In effect in one year, it more than doubled: $148 to $300 = +$152 or 103%!!!! I have been a customer for more than 8 years and have had 2 Units at one point. The rates were reasonable, Management was very helpful. Location was great! Highway robbery you say? I think that this business is almost completely immune to inflation (brick and mortar) so why the ripoff. Demand & Supply? well OK - but don't rob us blind! Be extra careful - once you're in, and hooked, at an online rate, they'll raise your rates without notification, indiscriminately to whatever they see fit... I'm out of there... how about you?

Our unit, not even close to the offending unit, was first covered in feces as the animals roamed the whole building. Then, when Extra Space got it together and took drastic action there were/are dead rats all over the building. I need to mention that everything written so far was not learned from Extra Space notifying us of the problem and how they were going to solve. No, we received NOTHING from Extra Space. No email or phone call that there was a problem. No notification when they treated the building, what chemicals were used, cautions. Nothing. When we moved our belongings out of storage last fall 2023, we didn't know what to expect. As soon as we opened the unit one of my hired moving guys pointed into the unit and said, "there's a dead rat". This was the start of finding four more dead rats in and around our belongings. We trashed about a third of what was stored in the unit due to the extent the infestation had. This was just our unit! The others, many, have to be similarly affected and contaminated. I requested three months refund to help cover our loss. Nothing. To date Extra Space corporate has not communicated in any way. Their response throughout the entire time from discovery of the issue to eradication of the animals to treating their customers like, well, customers who pay for the services Extra Space offers is nonexistent. It's either incompetence, cowardice or both.

When you complain about excessive increases they give you a temporary concession and then jack rates up in a few months. I finally told them they were 3 times higher than same size storage nearby but they said it doesn't matter. So I moved to a competitor and now paying 1/3 rental rate. When I inquired about the 7x10 the manager, Lonnie, quoted me $105 for a 3rd floor unit. After inquiring about a ground floor, Lonnie quoted the monthly rental was $120. I then told Lonnie that online it was listed at $84.00 a month and why the discrepancy? All I received from Lonnie was a song and dance, and a sense of Lonnie trying to inflate the fees and take advantage of customers. No thank you! I took my business elsewhere!

Scary turnover rate with store employees. Its almost impossible to get a 'live' office worker to answer the phone. Voice messages are never returned. Rental fees increase too often, and at overly high rates. One office worker per day is a big part of problems there.

I was told this happened because I was "not committed to my reservation ," which I found unprofessional and needless to say disrespectful . I was then offered a unit on a different floor, which did not meet my needs. Unfortunately, my time was wasted due to poor communication and lack of follow-through. With so many storage options available, I chose to take my business elsewhere. I would not recommend this facility.

I don't know how long it has actually been out because on the rare occasions building management responds to my emails they refuse to tell me how long it has been out. They have made no effort to inform renters that there is no air conditioning despite these being climate controlled units. The temperature in the building has gotten up to nearly 105° and likely even higher on the edges of the building since the thermometer is in the middle of the building. Management also doesn't seem to care and is not at all apologetic that they're not providing the services paid for and has given no date for when it will be fixed. Despite Storage Mart corporate responding to my review, I haven't heard from anyone. I called the main number over a week ago and was promised a call from the regional manager but never heard from them. Clearly they have no intention of fixing the AC anytime soon, avoid at all costs!

I have had a 10 x 10 unit listed as "Unit Type: Climate Control" for 2 years and 2 months which I rented to store some items in while constructing a new apartment. We were in and out of the unit often over the two years, but didn't move large items so we didn't notice as mold and rust developed on large pieces. (We were usually opening the unit to add small boxes as we accumulated new things we wanted to store until our new construction was done.) The construction just finished and we were excited to set it up for immediate occupancy to rent out, but will not be able to do so because we will now have to replace and/or clean almost every large item that we stored. An entire antique family heirloom bedroom set with a mirrored vanity is covered in mold. (pics attached) A mattress that was in perfect condition when we put it in storage and had only been slept on a couple of times now has rust showing on the sides where the springs are touching the fabric. A stainless steel prep table shelf and the legs of an EZ Up Pop up tent were covered in rust. At first glance, it looks like there is thousands of dollars of damage. In looking over our lease and insurance, I see that it says that mold (and many other things--such as the rodent problems another reviewer mentioned) are not covered by insurance. And the climate controlled section says: "These spaces do not provide constant internal temperature or humidity control. OWNER does not warrant or guarantee temperature or humidity ranges in the Space due to changes in outside temperature and humidity." They should not call them "climate control" units because they most definitely are not. We could have saved ourselves thousands of dollars and just thrown everything away instead of putting anything into this storage unit.

This is a new place we have never used that is close to my house. My wife dropped 7 shirts off here $23.75 when I picked them up seemed a little high for 7 shirts, but no big deal. I picked up my dry cleaning on the way to the airport only to find that my shirts were extremely bad quality had wrinkles all over and creases matted into my shirts. It was so bad I brought them to a place in Fort Lauderdale the same day I landed and they fixed all the problems and the same shirts only cost me $12.00 lol... I went back to the place in Georgia and asked very politely to get a credit back. I showed them photos and voiced my concern and they suddenly were offended at the photos and became very rude towards me and told me that they cannot do anything unless I bring them a shirt with the problem and were upset I did not come back them first. I then told them I was out of town and I just got back and am fine with just a slight adjustment or what not and they told me they would do nothing. I told them I would like work things out, but can request an adjustment from my credit card if needed. They then told me the would call the police and I scratched my head and proceeded to leave. Funny how when you try to be a friendly person or work something out the other party sometimes does not get it. Oh well... Would not come back here. Expensive, poor quality work and truly rude people.
