I see this location has 2 stars and I'm really not sure why.. Kyrie and her business partner were very fun and friendly. They made "move-in" very easy and even when my husband "moved-out" and I forgot to call the same day, they kindly closed out my account. I didn't incur any additional charges or anything. I can not stress enough to anyone who is thinking about renting from here do not do it I would say that the customer service is bad but it is nonexistent problems range from gates and elevator not working posted emergency number is merely the same number you call for rental information. There was a young girl named Amber I had never seen before working on Tuesday, and Ken. I was treated disrespectfully, and their actions that day did not embody CubeSmart's values of providing renowned customer service. I understand that we all have bad days and that some people are not naturally kind, but as a customer service representative, it is your duty--the responsibility you take on when hired--for your bad days, judgments, prejudices, and biases not to affect your customers. Amber approached me and spoke to me like I was a child and not her elder. She said, "Consider this your first warning." Imagine a young girl telling you an older adult this. When I ignored her disrespect, accepted the policy she gave, smiling and saying I don't mind, and tried sharing a thought I had about it, she became combative. She thought my calm, polite response was being defensive because I'm a Black woman. In reality, this was a racial bias in her head. I avoid confrontation and had already told her I didn't mind. Other employees had many occasions to share the policy with me but didn't and I was saddened that she was the one to relay it instead of someone pleasant. I was already having a whirlwind of a day. I was hot and dehydrated from spending hours organizing my storage unit because they have no air conditioning inside. But they would have never known because I believe what God says about being kind and maintain kindness with others despite difficulties. Amber's demeanor made the exhaustion I was already experiencing unbearable, and I shut down. Later on when I went to politely ask her questions, she had an "I'm only answering because it's my job" attitude. And again, I watched her become defensive with me when I was only kindly asking questions about my unit. She was truly perplexing. She had a strange tone, strange body language, and the strangest stare at me. They were closing in a few minutes so before I left I asked Amber if I could throw something away. She sent me to the bathroom knowing I would need her to open it for me. When I came back to tell her I needed one of them to let me inside the bathroom, she just finished locking the office door and ignored me as I tried to get her attention through the glass... like I was an animal. She did not look at me, she instead looked over at Ken and smiled and let out a laugh. Clearly happy to ignore me standing outside for help. Her and Ken both ignored me for some time. After she smiled with him, Ken looked up and gestured for me to drop the trash on the ground. Through the window I asked are you sure? I'd hate to drop it on the ground and he irritatingly looked at me and pointed down for me to drop it. No decency to speak directly with me, open the door, all through a window. Dehumanizing There is no excuse for this lack of respect, empathy, and behavior. In my past customer service jobs, I opened the door and helped customers or answered their questions despite having just closed the door. I treated them as humans. After Amber & Ken's treatment, I decided to move out of my unit the next day and go where I would be respected. It was strange for Amber to have such a policing attitude when no one has taken initiative to mop the hallway floors, which have never been cleaned. Basic responsibilities are neglected which made her focus on enforcing rules over improving customers' experiences extremely misplaced. Ironically, as I walked to the office to close out my account, I saw the policy she enforced on me the previous day not being adhered to. To Amber, stop being weird toward people causing them trauma, all because you're uncomfortable they are different than you. Isabella was not there this day, and for years she has consistently provided the best customer service. I'm glad Shay was working on my move-out day because she spoke to me and not through me. She asked me and my mover how our day was going. We had an uplifting, positive conversation about faith, God, and kindness. I hope God blesses the young boy Ken and girl Amber to be kind to others in the future. read more

Just how smart is a cube? It's time to find out. This storage unit is a good option next to all the good food trucks, and it looks fancy and it's kept pretty well, but it's pricey and that is one downside... Another downside is that in some regard it's not run very well. This is one of the reasons we ended up not doing business with them. But definitely better than a lot of alternatives. read more

We currently rent three spaces here and have rented for over two years now. Things started well. We've experienced two break ins and in talking to others who rent spaces, we've learned we are not alone. The sliding door locks they use are easily cut, so it doesn't matter what kind of lock you use. The manager is kind, but offers no help in deterring theft. We are told by other tenants that a group of homeless individuals rent space here to keep bikes and other items and they have access to the premises. If true, that is quite troubling. In the most recent break in, we lost some sentimental items, but it's the feeling of being violated that is hard to deal with. Our advice is to look elsewhere for a safer place to store. read more

Avoid this location if you can help it. I used to have a unit here for three years and it was one negative experience after another. First of all, they advertised a free move in truck with rental, but this location doesn't have one. Second, they used to chain up their dollies so you couldn't access them outside of office hours, making it a pain to transport things in the evening. Things got marginally better over the course of the time I was there-- a paint job, some lights replaced with ones that actually worked, and a revolving door of managers-- but every few months I was hit with a rent price hike out of the blue, noted by a little postcard that they send in the mail. My rental fees went up by FIFTY bucks over the time I was there. Also, they openly admit that they lie through their teeth about the services provided, but only after you have an issue. I shut, slid the bolt, and locked the door when leaving the unit one night, but the bolt hadn't slid all the way in, so the door apparently could still be opened. The manager reached out to me a couple of days later. By that point, multiple items from my unit had been stolen by God knows who. I repeatedly requested access to their surveillance, at which point they admitted that they DON'T have interior surveillance as they tell you, and that even the two exterior cameras they have don't really point at anything useful or meaningful. They pretty much protect the front gate and nothing else. Also, if you buy the insurance policy, demand the policy documents before you move in. The place told me the policy covered ALL instances of theft or destruction of property. When I tried to file for the items that were stolen, they had me jump through the typical hoops, then declined my claim because I couldn't provide the exact time of the incident (once again, no surveillance to tell me) and because there wasn't "significant damage" to the door of the unit. I've dealt with both better and worse facilities than this one, but never one that outright lied to me about the services that they provided. Skip this place and find one with management that actually stays in place and tells you the truth about what's being offered. Bad experience at this Cubesmart location on Voss and Westheimer. I only had a storage room there for a few months. When I signed on some pretty nice ladies helped my boyfriend and I. After about 2 months there appeared to be some kind of management change. They have a 10 PM curfew I was moving and removing something from my storage room. A woman named Nisha walked up to me, my boyfriend, and my boyfriend's 3 year old daughter as we were leaving the facility claiming to be the new GM. She was very rude saying we were trespassing and that she was calling the cops to make a police report. She made us pull up to the gate by this time it is now after 10 PM. She asked us to fill out paper work and pay a $100 trespass fee. I explained to her we did not realize the time and when she stopped us while we were leaving it was prior to 10 PM. I stored basically my life in here for a month. When I opened the unit to move out, everything was covered in a layer of dirt. The temporary (?) manager was nice but said someone should've told me to expect this and cover up everything. Well no one did. And he said the manager can't do anything for me. This was absolutely the worse customer service experience I have received, and the entire thing left me feeling like garbage. I called for clarification of a receipt and was immediately interrupted with accusations and company policies. The manager then promised to help but barked at me the next day that "we don't take returns on merchandise", a policy that was nowhere on the receipt nor explained in person. This location is not worth your business, and the manager is in serious need of training in real customer service. read more
