I spent countless hours organizing my storage space and building shelving. I followed all of the rules, and yet just weeks before my price increase, management threatened to kick me out for "being there too much during business hours." Very bizarre. Great location. Nice facility. But my plans to rent long-term from this company certainly changed. I waited almost a year to post this review for fear of retribution, but I have long since severed my relationship with this company. I would not do business here again.

Horrible. We've been here 10 months and they've raised the prices 3 times!!! They get you in on a…read morecertain price, let you move in, then raise prices. 3 TIMES!! That's bait & switch. Scum!! Also it sucks. Elevators never work, there's NEVER enough carts. Here right now & had to defend my cart from being taken by someone who decided he's more important than everyone else. The bathrooms are often unusable (truly unusable, like poop covered). Don't plan on a bathroom here. Garbage. Tweakers. The regular fun Everett stuff. Don't let the newness & somewhat fresh paint fool you. It's just another horrible business taking your money & not repairing facilities. Also, the nice reviews you do see, it's because the employees who sign you up, beg you to write a review. They say they get bonuses from them or something. They really really push you to write a review. I'm glad I waited!! Knowing what I know, I would NEVER SIGN UP HERE!! Run. And again. The elevators don't work. Here right now. No elevators. And they don't care. Some people can't even access their units to move into/out of. Who can carry heavy boxes up/down stairs!!

I learned a painful lesson about renting storage units. Moved possessions into a brand new…read moreSmartStorage unit in Mill Creek WA three years ago and set the account to autopay. Big mistake. They promised 30 days notice before any rent increases. I assumed even though it was a month to month contract that they would not raise rent more than the WA state limit of 10% annually (on residential units.) Well guess what, in most states there is no state mandated cap on storage unit rent. So with increaes every few months, they essentially doubled my rent every year. And for two years, not one warning of a pending rent increase. This last year I finally started to get sporadic written increase warnings, but they've had my address and email all along. During the 2nd and 3rd year I was in and out of hospital, barely walking, so they had my stuff as hostage. As they just announced this month an increase to $725, up from my initial $200 per month, a good friend gave me a lecture. He said "Is there anything in there you could not just buy brand new, for the money you've paid in rent? Good point. So I just spent a week taking truck loads to Value Village and my wonderful (immigrant family) friends just helped me move the remaining essentials to a new smaller unit, closer to home, for $100 per month. As I was moving out the last two weeks I noted three occasions where this "high-security" facility had their gates stuck wide open. And during the last six months someone was able to take the time to pick my very substantial lock, rip open several cartons, and steal two guns. Watch your back, storage unit companies accross the country are planning to rip you off with outrageous rent hikes, useless insurance, and poor security. https://youtu.be/t9cFlWTAoOo?si=LqX2nw9fxHTnUQZD

I'm very disappointed with these frequent and significant increases, and I would not recommend doing business with this company.

My boyfriend and I went to rent a u-haul from this place and had a horrible experience. Scroll to…read morethe last paragraph for the summary. We arrived around the time he had rented it for (12pm on a Saturday) and found the office locked. We waited around and eventually a guy in a hoodie entered the area and unlocked the office. The office was merely a room within the gate itself with a desk and some computers. When asked about the truck, his first response was: "What? I only have a van." We had noticed the van parked out there earlier but no truck. When my boyfriend reminded him that he had reserved the truck for this day and time, the guy found out that the worker from the day before had double booked the truck but that they were supposed to be back an hour or two ago. He called them up and asked them very politely when they'd have the truck back and they said about 2:30pm. He didn't really give them any sense of urgency or remind them that they were late in returning it. So since we had to wait another hour or more, we decided to go back home for a bit and come back. When it was time, we started heading back and tried to call to find out if the truck had been returned yet. He never picked up the phone once. We arrived and once again the office was closed and locked. We looked around and found the truck...unlocked. We waited for a while trying to figure out what to do and then decided we just had to leave. We got in our car and started to drive out and there was the guy in the hoodie standing outside the coffee stand nearby chatting it up with the barista. He walked over to our car and asked "So you want that truck still?". We were both pretty frustrated. Of course we wanted the truck...we had been waiting for an hour for him to show up at the office he was supposed to be keeping office hours at. Anyway, we got the truck finally and it delayed the whole move about 4 hours because of all that mess. I couldn't help but write some kind of review about the place after that. He tried to give us a deal on the u-haul after that but the shennangans that were pulled almost cost us the whole moving day....a measly $10 or $20 wasnt going to make up for that. In summary, my experience with the storage place entails: Office hours that are not kept and workers who overbook u-hauls. I would never ever rent a u-haul from them again. Nor would I rent storage space from a place where the office hours are not kept.

There was a dead rat in my unit…read more I went to move my stuff out of the unit on July 26 2015. When I opened the unit I was met with a faint smell of pee. I tried not to think too much of it so I started moving my boxes. Then I started seeing rat droppings everywhere and knew something wrong. I moved my boxes out no problem save for the pee smell. But then I went to move my bed and there was a freaking dead rat behind it. I didn't know what to do so I went to the office to talk to them. The office was closed even though online it said it was open on Sunday 9-12. So I called the off site number that's posted on the office door. I'm on the verge of tears at this point. The guy answers but he's not sympathetic or understanding. I ask if someone can come down and get rid of the rat. He kept refusing. Like I get that it was his day off but there was a freaking dead rat in my unit! He told me they could take care of the rat on Monday. The only things left in my unit were my mattress and couch- both ruined by rat pee. I ask how much they would charge me if I left them there. He said since I didn't leave a deposit I wouldn't lose any money if I left it there and they don't charge their customers for leaving stuff in the unit. So in the end I just left those two items there. This storage unit ended up costing me a whole lot because now I have to go out and replace my couch and mattress.
