I went to Cuates Kitchen for brunch, and overall it was a great experience! The space itself is super cute! I really liked the color scheme and decor. It manages to feel both chic and homey at the same time, which makes it a nice spot for a casual brunch or a little weekend catch-up with friends. The drinks were a highlight. The spiked horchata and espresso martinis were both really good (honestly, better than I expected for a brunch cocktail lineup). For food, I tried a few things: Corn pancakes -- really interesting and different in a good way. Slightly sweet, a little savory, and full of flavor. Brisket hash -- delicious, though the description on the menu was a bit confusing. It said "hashbrown patty," but what I got was diced potatoes topped with a brisket patty. Not a dealbreaker, but the wording could definitely be clearer. Steak and eggs -- perfectly cooked and seasoned; definitely recommend. The service was solid, friendly, attentive without hovering, and the food came out at a good pace. I'll definitely be back to try their dinner menu, because the brunch alone left a good impression. Bottom line: great food, great vibe, solid cocktails. Just a small tweak needed on menu descriptions, but otherwise, Cuates Kitchen is worth the visit.

Cuates Kitchen absolutely delivered! The chips and queso were some of the best I have ever had and that says a lot because I have tried many around Dallas. For my entrée I had the barbacoa costra tacos with beans and rice. Everything was a 10 out of 10, packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I also tried their blood orange margarita which was refreshing and well balanced, not overly sweet, just right. My buddy ordered the migas breakfast tacos and he was raving about them as well. Prices are a little on the higher side but honestly that is expected for this area and the quality makes it worth it. Service was great, the vibe was inviting and I would certainly come back again. Highly recommend if you are looking for top notch Tex Mex in Dallas.

Hi Everyone! Today's review is for Cuates Kitchen. I will say straight up that I do not know the area and came here only because of the excellent reviews.... Walking in, it was crowded, especially for midafternoon on a Saturday. Definitely a good sign. The tables were a little too close together for my taste. Fortunately we only had people next to us on one side, so we did not feel too squeezed in. We ordered a margarita and a Lone Star beer to start. Expecting chips and salsa. The waitress came back to tell me they were out of Lone Stars. So I took a Corona instead. The Margarita was VERY tiny! If you took out the ice, I bet it wasn't two or three ounces. Kind of sad really! The corona could have been colder as well. It turns out you have to pay for chips and salsa here....?! We ordered them anyhow. When they came it was a small amount of chips and hot salsa. I won't lie, the hot salsa was a bit off putting. I wish they had a cold option as the salsa had nice flavor. If you have gotten this far, you are probably thinking, this is going to be a one or two star review. Well, at this stage, I thought so too! Then our entrees came. Gerri ordered a Carnitas bowl. I ordered the Brisket tacos. The carnitas bowl was very very good and quite nicely presented. But, the star of the meal was my Brisket tacos. They were spectacular!!! Truly the best I have ever had. They came three to a place. Beautifully presented and ever so tasty! It shocks me to say a main entree can take a one or two star review and take it all the way to a solid four! Cuates.... Skip the alcohol, chips and salsa and order the Brisket tacos! You will love it!! Jim

This is one of my favorite places in Dallas. The ambiance and service can't be beat! I really enjoy just hanging here, it feels like home and it's nestled right in the neighborhood. I've had a few different dishes here but the last one I had were the tostadas and they were so good! I highly recommend them, especially when you add their salsa on top. So good!

Can't believe it's taken us so long to try this place. My boyfriend and I had to get his car windows tinted in the area, and since it was lunch time we looked up places to eat nearby. The name Cuates stood out to us, plus the food pictures looked appetizing, so we decided to check it out. The restaurant is built inside a house with outdoor seating at the front porch and indoor sitting plus a bar top. The decor was cozy and we chose to sit outside under one of the many trees. My bench seat happened to be much higher than the chair he sat on so I did tower over him a little, but we quickly forgot about that. They play Latin music at a nice low volume so it's easy to still chat with those around you without needing to yell. Very nice setup. We started with chips and guac and I ordered a dirty horchata. The guac was delicious and fresh, and tasted even better with their in-house made salsa. My drink was also very good. We then ordered flautas as an appetizer, which my boyfriend loved. They were perfectly crunchy, the chicken was moist, and the cream drizzled on top with queso fresco just added to the goodness of it all. For main dishes my boyfriend got 3 tacos and I got the enchiladas de mole. We were both engrossed in our meals because of how good they were. The mole wasn't too overpowering, and the chicken was still tender enough to cut through with mostly just my fork. I forgot to eat the rice if I'm honest. My boyfriend inhaled his tacos before I could even register what they each were lol Even though we were full I saw the plantains listed under desserts and just knew we had to get them. I hadn't had sweet plantains for dessert in years, and this dish reminded me why I liked it so much. Also it wasn't overly sweet. All in all we will be coming back. STAT

This place is an adorable little gem for tacos and Mexican cocktails. We swung by for a late weekday lunch and, surprise surprise, we had the whole place to ourselves (empty, but no complaints - more tacos for us!). There were a couple of fun and friendly local workers getting their cocktail on at the bar (no judgment here, it's 5 o'clock somewhere). We kicked things off with the empanadas, a 2-taco plate, and the elote. The elote came out first - big portion, very tasty - though it could've been a little hotter (room temperature corn isn't quite the vibe). Hubby had the empanadas, and I went for the 2-taco plate (with double beans, no rice - that's the pro move!). There was plenty of food, though Hubby somehow managed to finish it all after I threw in the towel. Seriously, I'm pretty sure his stomach has its own zip code. All in all, great vibes, great food, and even better cocktails. I would love to check out the brunch sometime.

Their salsa verde pollo pozole is the bomb! I got it to go and it came with tortilla chips, shredded cabbage, radish, and oregano seasoning with onions. Started out looking at the cocktail menu. Decided on a naked and Famous riff called thr Naked in Veracruz (subbing in Ancho Reyes Verde for the Yellow Chartreuse) Food menu has some options above and beyond just tacos. But we were in a taco mood. Got the mix/match of cochinita pibil, barbacoa, and chicken mole . All three were gantastic particularly. Also enjoyed the barbacoa huarache as well. Got a side of elote too from the appetizer side of the menu. Dishes were served with homemade green and red hot sauces. Also had a special smoky red hot sauce to pair with the elote too. It's just a bit different. It is in an area that is a bit hard to find, but once you arrive the comfort is super pleasant. The food has no issues being a bit more spicy than the traditional places. (Not too much and for me, a perfect amount of spice and flavor.) Mole enchiladas. Tacos tinga, spicy margaritas and stop the bus for an amazing tres leches to end your meal. Here's the best I have had in a while. Give it a roll. I think you will like it. read more

Such a hidden gem, this place is fantastic! I love it! The food is always so fresh, flavorable and filling! I have tried several things from the amazing tacos, to the ceviche and the chicken empanadas...so good! Did I mention the staff is always so nice and welcoming, and they have some really good cocktails from a blood orange margarita or a Michelada to some frozen drinks. I highly recommend it! read more

This place is a total gem! Tucked right off Oak Lawn and serving some absolutely delicious Veracruz style Mexican food. They have a full service bar (love the micheladas and horchata) and cozy indoor seating. They also have a large covered outdoor patio - weather permitting. This is a family operation and everything coming out of the kitchen has been a total hit. I've tried their tacos, green sauce enchiladas, emmoladas, and am addicted to their weekend brunch items (Panucho and chilaquiles). I never write reviews but everything about this place is amazing! Best tacos in Dallas and my go to restaurant for Mexican food in uptown. Last time I was there they had Pumpkin Flan special for dessert and it was amazing too. Never been let down at Cuates plus super friendly service! read more

Everything was a 10/10. I went on a Saturday evening and was created and seated immediately. The wait staff was very friendly. It is a very cute and quaint place. Just found out that this gem (started as a food truck) opened the cutest restaurant off Oak lawn and went in this afternoon. This is now my go to Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere and super friendly staff is the icing on the cake. Their street tacos and flan are to die for I have never tasted such moist meat! Highly recommend the barbacoa costra (fried cheese) tacos and fish tacos, but all the others we tried were great too. They weren't too crowded on a Sunday evening so the service was prompt. I love love love their tamales! I first had them at the tamale fest at the farmer's market. As soon as I got home I found them on social media! They're on IG and Facebook. The tamales are so good I ordered three dozen for our family Christmas party. I ordered pork and raja. The family that owns this food truck is so kind, they agreed to meet me at a near by gas station for delivery. I will order from them every holiday now! Update- Wow! Tried the al pastor tacos, barbacoa tacos, empanadas, and chips and queso today. Everything was delicious and so authentic! 10/10. read more

We had walked past Cuates Kitchen many time since it opened. We finally went in last week. The food was so good, we have been back twice. Bigger and nicer than we expected it to be on the inside. Also a great dog-friendly patio. Food is several steps up from your normal Tex-Mex. The chicken enchiladas verde are superb. Definitely earned a slot in our rotation. read more

Recently opened in my neighborhood, and after hearing good rumors decided to check it out. It is definitely worth it for the tacos alone, it the margaritas and vibe of the restaurant made for a great hidden gem around cedar springs. Definitely check it out if your in the area! read more

My 1st experience with this food truck was a good one! I had the empanadas which were huge and very filling. They were topped with lettuce, tomato, avocado and spicy mayo; I added the tomatillo sauce for so more kick. Loved that they use the beeper system so you don't have to hang around in the weather. read more

We love this place. Super yummy nachos & tacos! Elote is perfection 100%! And they have a great tequila selection so its always a no worries situation!!!! We always try new spots on Dallas visits but end up coming back here every time because it is the best. And the staff is always super kind & accommodating. 5 stars all the way in every category. I followed their food truck through social media over the years. Always enjoying their food. Last night I stopped by their brick and mortar location. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and treated with excellent care. The food is exactly as I remember it from the food truck, dare I say even better?! Didn't know that was possible. I enjoyed one of the best expresso martinis while sitting at the bar. I will most definitely be back and support this gem. read more
