This place is about to become a classic among my coworkers and me. I saw a reel about their HH $2…read morenigiri and simply HAD to go and try it out. There's street parking only but it was fairly easy to find parking. We made a reservation but the restaurant was bustling and we still had a bit of a wait. The interior was aesthetic and a bit cramped. Service was friendly, and they understandably requested that we order all our nigiri for the table, so we did have to scramble to do some math as a party of six. I absolutely loved the uni, monkfish liver, and toro. Funnily enough, the only thing they had run out of later in the evening was the salmon. I didn't miss it though. The uni was piled HIGH on a small mound of rice, and it tasted incredibly cold, smooth, and sweet, with a faint brininess that only enhanced the natural umami. Monkfish liver is something I tried once at omakase and have craved ever since. Idk if I'm anemic or something but I love me a good pate or stir fried liver. Each piece came topped with a thick slice of rich, buttery, earthy goodness. The texture was so smooth and dense, and the flavor really pairs well with the rice. Finally, I was so surprised that they offered toro on the HH menu, and we ordered what felt like half a tuna's worth of toro. The fish was rich and a good balance of fatty and lean. It was not stringy, and melted in my mouth. I had about 18 pieces of nigiri and enjoyed every bite. It was about $42 after tip and tax. I think the pieces had a good balance of fish and rice. The rice was non mushy and well seasoned. My only gripes are that their shrimp is cooked and not the raw sweet shrimp, and I don't think their wasabi is fresh, it's likely horseradish based. If that's not true then I apologize for the slander. Regardless, my coworkers and I loved this place and some of us have already been back for more of the awesome nigiri!

I ordered a couple nigiris including: salmon, uni, hamachi, ankimo, and seared walu.walk. I recommend ordering all the nigiri in one go because after your first order it'll take 30-40 minutes for them to bring your next order. For $2 the nigiri was definitely worth it! The salmon was standard, it was fresh and the fish to rice ratio was good. I've never had ankimo before but I was pleasantly surprised and wish I ordered more! It was rich, creamy, umami, and slightly bring! Compared to uni I think I prefer the ankimo! The uni was sweet and fresh, where else are you going to find uni for $2?? I will definitely be back and i will bring friends next time so they can experience Lion as well! I want to try out their sushi rolls too.

I thought the concept of serving pickled and fermented vegetables alongside the curry katsu was genius because it helped add a refreshing bite to the otherwise hearty dish. The jianbing at home didn't taste as good as fresh because of the crispy parts. I wish I could just pay less for one fourth of the full thing. But the fresh taste was very good!!! We also tried some potstickers given the namesake. I'd say the were quite good and homey, but nothing out of the ordinary. We came on a Sunday morning and had no wait.
