She also wore an earbud and talked on her phone the entire appointment. I wonder what a pedicurist thinks of a customer who blabs on their phone for the entire hour? I got my nails done for my sister's graduation about two weeks ago and asked for acrylic French tips. Unfortunately, they started falling off within a week. I didn't even want to go back to get them fixed because my nails were in so much pain. The technician filed my natural nails down so thin that they felt like they were burning, and the acrylics practically melted off after a shower. During the appointment, I was also cut twice. My natural nails are very damaged after this appointment. On top of that, the French tips were poorly done--the polish was applied halfway up my nail instead of at the tips. Overall, I was very disappointed with the quality and would not recommend spending $70 at this salon. read more

I went here with my daughter because it was a convenient place to walk in. They sat us at opposite sides of the salon, even though we were the only customers. We both got gel manicures. They really rushed through the removal of my old gels which meant for a lot of scraping. They did a nice job with my daughters nails but they cut cuticle pretty bad and I had a hair under the polish on one nail. They redid the nail but it was again rushed and probably looked better with the hair under it. I paid just as much as I do at other salons that pay a lot more attention to detail. This is my go-to place when I am in the Annandale area. I used to go there for years before I moved out to a different state. I just came back after 2.5 years. I got the same as I always: gel manicure and spa gel pedicure. The place is clean and affordable, the ladies work very diligently and patiently, the manager/owner will recognize you and know your preferences. It seems that the massage chairs and interior have been recently upgraded. The spa pedicure is great and extremely relaxing; the massage really relaxes feet and calves abused by high heels or impact sports. Went here for a gel manicure and was very disappointed. They had a good color selection. However, even though I had an appointment I waited for 15 minutes. The manicurist then rushed to get the old gel off my nails, even though the acetone had barely had time to work. She ended up scraping the nails themselves in her rush rather than the gel, and yet still she left a ton of the old color on. The nails were shaped poorly, were uneven, and my final manicure had a ton of bubbles. For 40 dollars plus tip, I expect at least a little more attention to detail. read more

I'm not much of a nail person but this location I've been going to off and on for the past two years. I like a simple round nail with usually plain colors. This location is good price and they're pretty quick with handling manicures and pedicures and the staff is polite and welcoming. They've also really updated the decor inside the salon and it makes it look more inviting and chill. My only complaint is the drying machine for nails seems very weak, I feel like blowing my own nails with my breath would get them dried quicker. read more

BEYOND RUDE. UNPROFESSIONAL. WORST SALON I'VE EVER GONE TO. I went here with a friend when I was 8 months pregnant... for a last minute treat for myself prior to giving birth to my first child. Give me a break, I wanted to have nice toes for the hospital. I'm not Vietnamese but my friend I went with was so she translated all the ish they said about us. I'm used to nail salon gossip... but they were so rude. They said I had chicken legs.. my friend was cheap and basically rambled on about how it was worth the effort to do our pedis. Prices aren't even affordable and aside form the fact that I wanted to jump out of my chair and smack someone prior to even putting my feet in the water... my toes didn't look good! I've been going here for about 7 years, and I raved about it every time. However, my loyalty to the place has now dissipated. I like this place because they do what they call a "Diamond Wrap" but it is also known as a resin dip--it's great because it looks thin and natural and that's the way I prefer my nails to appear and, as a bartender, it gives them a little extra strength than my natural nail. My favorite girl left, and they wouldn't tell me where she went to work. This kind of made me mad, because I am a regular there and you would think they would treat me with some respect, but I understand they may not have wanted to lose a customer. To be honest--they lost me anyway. Natalie was my go-to, and ever since the service has gone down-hill. The last time I went was my final straw. I went for a full set because my baby shower was coming up and I wanted to look great. After being passed down from 2 different women, the woman who did my nails did the worst job I've ever seen. When she started dipping my nails, a man knocked on the window beside her. I'm guessing this was her husband or something to that effect, because she made a surprised face and then started to hurry. I left there with nails that, when looked at from the side, had a sort of wave-effect to them because there was a large dip in the middle of each nail followed by a very thick end on the tip. They looked terrible! That was it for me. Two days later I went back to the salon because I had broken a nail (completely my fault--hazards of the profession) and because I was going to see if they could fix what this woman had done to my nails. I can't be sure, but I think it was the owner of the salon who fixed me up. She fixed my broken nail, and then evened out my nails and they looked great when I left. She even replaced a few tips on nails that were irreparable. She only charged me for the broken nail, which is great customer service and the reason they got 3 stars instead of 1. I was happy again when I left there, but realized that I don't want to have to go back to Fairfax (I live in Nokesville now) every time a woman there wants to go home with her husband. read more

I did not check the reviews before coming in, but glancing through them, am not getting that vibe at all from this place! It is clean, everyone was offered a beverage in there, and Mai took special care with my very "sporty" feet. Not much conversation, but I prefer that when I am trying to relax. Great leg massage. There was no conversing in another language in front of me or any of the other patrons at all. A mani/pedi here is $32 which is amazing for the quality and the relaxing atmosphere. I went to Crystal Nails last week for a manicure and pedicure because I was shopping at the Trader Joes nearby. The salon is clean enough and has decent decor. The lady that did my pedicure seemed nice but was talking to her co-workers in Vietnamese throughout the whole pedicure. She asked if I would like the additional callus remover for $5 extra. I declined the extra charge, as most nail spas include a callus remover treatment in the pedicure charge itself. What struck me as odd was that another lady did my manicure standing up while another lady did my pedicure. They were not busy enough to where they had to do the treatments simultaneously. I prefer to relax and enjoy my pedicures while reading a magazine so the double-duty treatment took away from the experience for me. Finally, the manicurist that filed my nails left four of them jagged. When I pointed this out, she filed three of them and went about applying polish. The nail that was left jagged chipped just two days later. She also applied the polish way too thick, which took them forever to dry and made them chip easily. The massage was very short and rushed as well. Needless to say, I won't be returning. MC Nails that is about 2 miles away does a way better job for a cheaper price.
