I called and was quoted a price for my gold over the phone, and I went in minutes after that call -- yet in person they offered me a much lower number. When I brought up the phone quote they said prices "change daily," even though I called the same day and came right over. I asked for an acid test and he agreed -- but when I asked him to compare it to his 14k gold he "unknowingly" used an 18k gold ring instead. I asked to see the ring and it was labeled 18k -- he acted like it was an accident when I caught him using a higher-purity gold ring for his test with a 10 karat acid. Once his mistake was pointed out he apologized, then essentially told me to leave by refusing to buy my gold. I took the exact pieces to a jeweler down the street with no problems: they confirmed it was 14k and gave me a great price. Bottom line -- they baited me with a phone quote, lowballed me in person, and tried sneaky tricks. Spend your money somewhere else.

Homage carries a lot of work by independent artists and artisans, including fine jewelry and ceramics. They also have a very large collection of fragrances in the forms of perfumes, room sprays and reed diffusers. The last time I was here was with an out of town friend who was really tempted to buy a handmade pair of gloves. She ended up not getting them and called me regretting her decision. So, this place is great for worn accessories (scarves, jewelry, gloves...etc.) and beautiful housewares. The prices are maybe a bit high, but the quality of the goods is pretty high. So, while I much more rarely buy from Homage than Retreat or Gold Bug, I would still recommend a look around.

Both times have been a pleasure and the associates were kind, patient, knowledgeable, and friendly! Ring shopping is exciting (when you know what you want and even if you don't know!). Nicole and Divya helped us most recently when we shopped for wedding bands and they were immensely helpful. When you arrive to the location in Pasadena, you will check in with the associates in the front and then be brought into a semi-private room to a table for you and your party. Water and chocolate are offered if you would like. Nicole went over the process at the table and then led us to the display boxes where we tried on a number of designs, some that we knew we were interested in and others at their suggestion. I'm glad that they offered suggestions because I ended up loving a 1/2 anthology band that I did NOT have on my radar at all prior to the appointment. My fiancé had a vague idea of what he wanted and they were able to show him almost every ring so that he could make a more informed decision. Ultimately, he decided to get a custom ring and Divya was able to connect him with the custom team while Nicole was able to focus on me and finalizing my wedding band decisions. Additionally, they cleaned my engagement ring (pictured which is also from Brilliant Earth) quickly and checked their stock for men's chains since my fiancé is also in the market for a new piece. Hill St. in LA and find yourself a wholesale diamond dealer (I recommend Eli's diamonds, because I had a great experience with him (he has excellent classy taste and is very reasonably priced) but there are literally thousands of people to choose from). For example, I wanted diamond studs, 1.5ct each (so 3ctw)- I found them here vvs2 color E "excellent" cut, symmetry and polish ( but you should know that IGI and GIA do not certify any cuts other than round brilliant so if you're going for a fancy shape like a cushion, calling it an "excellent " cut means absolutely nothing and is a mere marketing gimmick, you need to se the diamond in person which you can't do without buying it- how stupid right?!!) and here at brilliant earth they cost $6000... downtown LA- I went to 4 different dealers and the prices were all about $2k... and the diamonds were NICER!! TLDR? Save yourself thousands and make the trip to LA's diamond district (it's not as scary as you think because there are a lot of security guards everywhere) and get yourself a customized diamond that you can see in person before you buy it! And you get the help of an expert searching for what you ask for!! It's such a no brainer I can't even believe this place is in business!
