I had such a great experience! They took me straight in to get my jeans tailored, had me measured and out of there within 15 minutes, and I got my jeans back the same week. Such quick service with very sweet and careful employees. When I got my jeans back, I was looking to see if the new seam was noticeable, and it almost looked like they were the same as when I dropped them off. However, when I tried them on, they fit PERFECTLY. That just goes to show how meticulous they are with their craft. I came here based on it being a small local business to my home just right in the heart of DTR and the awesome reviews. I had just brought a beautiful formal dress that was too long and asked to get hemmed. This is Wednesday evening and I needed it by Friday for a Christmas party on Saturday. I'm giving 5 stars because the business is ran by someone who truly cares about people and his work. There was an issue upon picking up the dress (which by the way they ended having it for THE NEXT DAY!) I was thrilled, but the way the business owner and his employee (a very polite woman) handled it I couldn't be more happy and thankful. Years ago I came here to get my bridesmaids and my dress tailored. I referred other people. I ended up leaving the dress overnight and picking the dresses up the next morning because the bride decided to change the color of her bridesmaid dress. Yes, we were all annoyed. Miguel didn't start working on any of the dresses and our initial interaction was short. We just told him how much to cut for each dress. When I went to pick up the dresses he charged me $20 per dress without doing any work on them and just keeping them overnight. He specifically told me no work was done. As a college student at the time I felt jjipped and it was dishonest of him to charge us anything for no work done. There was no overnight fee listed anywhere.. he made it up on the fly. I was also a reoccurring customer at the time. After that transaction I did not step foot at his shop again. There's a lot of good reviews about his work and I enjoyed the work he did for me in the past (nothing difficult) but for me it's the honesty factor of it all. There's other tailors out there that focus on customer satisfaction and strive for customer retention. read more

AMAZING experience from start to finish! I had my wedding dress since 2020 and with how many times my wedding was canceled due to Covid I was worried my dress would eventually not fit. Sure enough I had my first fitting a few weeks ago and the dress fit but was EXTREMELY TIGHT lol. Cruz custom tailors worked their magic and at my second fitting the dress zipped right up! Thought I'd give this place a try for alterations it was very pricey but all together I have never used a tailor so I wasn't aware of pricing. I was offered dry cleaning and press for my coat and was charged 17$ for it but, when I got home and saw that my coat wasn't even touched after being altered it was very upsetting. I called and as soon as I told him about it he argues back with "that's all they could do." Instead of giving me an option of a refund or a credit or anything a sorry at least ? read more

Can I just say how amazing of a job they did on my wedding dress! They brought the dress in from my hips, shortened it down, and added drop down sleeves! Not only did the fix it last minute ( three days before the wedding) they did not charge me extra for their pain and suffering. This place saved my wedding and my eternal wedding photos! Cruz is the best. He's my go to for all my needs. I've brought him about 8 pair of True Religion jeans that he tapers so they fit perfectly. He also will taper my dress shirts and make any adjustments to sleeves on my shirts or jackets. I will also bring my older jeans and have him make them into shorts. Took new jeans in for hemming. Unfortunately whoever worked on my jeans does not know how to iron them as a crease line from the ironing appeared on the outside. Made no sense to return as these sort of things are irreparable. At least they got the length right. Gonna end up donating these jeans due to their mistake. Not a good experience. read more

Excellent tailor who makes high quality alterations quickly without charging an arm and a leg! I went to Cruz with a military uniform that I had mysteriously outgrown in the mid-section ‍ (I blame every restaurant I have given 4 or 5 stars in Yelp). He quickly identified changes that had to make, and even spotted some things that I had missed. He made the changes perfectly in a couple of days and I attended an important event without bursting any buttons. I have taken four suits here and I love the job that they did. I am slim and I buy my suits online. I am able to shop more confidently because I know this tailor will get my suit taken in just right to fit my body the way I like it. I also had a custom shirt made here. He educated me about different materials and time of the years for certain materials. We went though a lot of different patterns, collar type around the neck, sleeve types around the wrist, and he made this shirt to fit my upper body perfect! It is by far my favorite shirt in my closet. I do not plan on buying another shirt off the rack. I will buy my suits and then take them here to get taken in. I had such a great experience with Cruz Custom Tailors! I had a skirt and a pair of pants hemmed. Miguel (I think that was his name) asked me if I planned to wear them with heals or flats, and chose a where to hem my pants accordingly. The skirt was a floor length skirt, and I wanted to make it tea length instead, changing the style to be more casual. There was a lot of fabric and a lining to see as well!!! I had been quoted $50 for just the skirt from someone else, and I paid less than that for both items! They even gave me the off cut of fabric so I can make something with it. I buy a lot of thrifted and pre-loved items that benefit from tailoring, and I will definitely use Cruz Custom Tailors again! read more

It should have occurred to me a long time ago that this shop was perfectly positioned for postal runs, pastries and shoe repairs. Ninth Street has several of my favorite spots and after receiving so so hemming from a dry cleaning and alterations place uptown, I figured that if a shop can make custom suits and shirts from fabrics on display, then they have the skills to alter my jeans and slacks so they fit so perfectly that a belt is rendered optional! Enter Cruz Tailoring, more specifically, Miguel the namesake and proprietor. It's a family operation and they did exceptional work! Consider my debut audition: In the past I went to a European tailor in Redlands, and while they are awesome, it's simply too far away to be practical. Therefore, I decided to bring three pairs of very, very expensive slacks and jeans from the John Varvatos signature line. Materials included linen and linen/cotton blends that require skill to alter. The Task: Fit the waist and raise the hem so they break just so regardless of the shoes or boots I wear. I could tell immediately they are master craftsmen, they because another fellow started the complex fitting marks with chalk and a ruler, and Miguel finished up. He gave me a professor's discount since we're broke typically, and because I advised his daughter who is starting college where I teach. The Results: I forgot to mention that I got these back less than 24-hours later on a Saturday!!! I tried all three on in the fitting room and couldn't be more pleased. Perfection! Amazing how much the off-the-rack stock fit can still make a person look funny, but not anymore. I was so happy to find a replacement tailor that I brought two more pairs of Varvatos jeans in for TLC. Same story, done within 24-hours and fit like $600+ jeans you see celebrities wearing.
