My husband and I went here for dinner recently after seeing a movie at the movie theatre next door. Overall, we thought it was pretty good. I had the Chicken and Goat Cheese Salad $16. It was real mixed greens (not an iceberg lettuce piece to be found, hurray!), grilled chicken, goat cheese, avocado, bacon, candied pecans and cherry tomatoes. I asked for the dressing on the side, and it came as requested. It was a buttermilk dressing. It was rich and creamy, so I used only about 1/8th of it and it was perfect. The ingredients were all fresh. I really liked the sweet crunchiness of the pecans. The pecans were a nice contrast to the soft and creamy avocado and goat cheese. I got a decent amount of chicken and while I wasn't stuffed after the salad, I wasn't still hungry like I am after having a "dinner-sized" salad at some places. My husband had the "Bacon in the Sun" Pizza $15. It had tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, ham, bacon, pineapple salsa and jalapeno peppers. I had a slice and it was pretty good. The jalapeno peppers were fresh and had a real spicy kick. The pineapple salsa does contain cilantro (so cilantro haters beware). The pizza tasted like it was cooked in a wood oven, which I love. It didn't have that blistery crust that Neapolitan-style pizza has, but it was still pretty good. Our server was Llew and he was friendly and attentive. The decor was cool. They have wooden crates on the ceiling and their light fixtures are unusual. They have lit up airport codes (YOW, YVR, YUL, etc.) throughout the restaurant. I thought that the decor was neat. Although Crust & Crate is not a chain, it does have that chain feel to it - it's hard to explain but I felt like I was at a chain restaurant. This is not a criticism, just an observation. It's not listed on their website (at least not at the time of the writing of this review), but their daily specials are as follows: Monday: $5 Margaritas, $5 Drunken Fish Tacos, 1/2 price Nachos Tuesday: 25% off food with Student ID Wednesday: $5 Craft Beer Thursday: $25 for 2 Pizzas Friday: $5 Feature Cocktail (4pm-7pm only) Saturday: $5 Caeser Sunday: No specials :( I'm not at Lansdowne Park all that often, and there are a lot of other restaurants there that I would like to try, but I would definitely not object to returning to Crust & Crate, especially on a Monday for their $5 Margaritas and $5 Drunken Fish Tacos!

I took my staff here after walking by several times. The place looks very trendy with great atmosphere. I made a reservation the night before for 10 people and our table was ready for us when we arrived. We went on a Thursday so it was 2 pizzas for $25. The pizzas on their website and menus look so good and I knew before going that I would order the "Not you're Grandmother's Garden" pizza. A vegetable pizza with sun-dried tomatoes and zucchini. We all got pizzas and someone got the mac and cheese and another person tried the duck wings. The duck wings looked really good and I tried the mac and cheese -- I wasn't impressed by it. We ordered beers and there seems to be a great selection of local craft beers. The pizzas came out pretty fast and most of the pizzas came out at the same time. When I saw my pizza my heart sunk and I thought there was a mistake. The cheese on my pizza looked like frozen grated cheese that wasn't completely melted. There was no browning on the cheese and it just looked sad. The vegetables looked and tasted like boiled frozen veggies. There was broccoli, tomatoes, zucchini, and maybe a few sun-dried tomatoes. I was so disappointed. I think my guests enjoyed their pizza a bit more or they were too polite to say otherwise. I didn't really see our waiter again until it was time to order dessert. He was funny and his descriptions of the desserts were great. We ordered the cheese cake/ carrot cake hybrid dessert which was delicious. Everyone loved it. We also ordered the pecan square which was interesting. It seems more like a pile of sugared pecans but I liked it. I won't eat here again. It's too expensive and the food was too disappointing.

Honestly, pretty much par for the course when it comes to Ottawa pub fare. Overpriced and underwhelming. The Mac & Cheese was not very cheesy at all. Despite it being advertised as having cheese curds, I couldn't detect a single one. The pizza wasn't much better. I got the Taekwondough which sounded great on paper: korean chicken, pork belly, pickled veggies, and a spicy mayo sauce. The dough was flat, dense, and pretty unimpressive. The sauce didn't taste like much. The chicken was dry, as was the pork belly. The pickled veggies added a bit of interest, but the balance was off for the whole pizza and it just didn't really work. My girlfriend got the vegetarian pizza, and it didn't impress any better. The vegetables tasted like boiled frozen veggies, and the rest of the pizza was bland and flavorless. Here's a tip: if you specialize in pizza, nail the dough before you proceed to wow with the toppings. No amount of toppings can make up for what I can best describe as something analogous to a frozen pizza dough. I will say that the service was great. The waiter was very personable and had a great spiel about the desserts which encouraged us to try a few. The carrot cheesecake was pretty good!

My husband and I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night without reservation. The only available spot they had was at the bar so we said "why not?!" and we were so happy we did! The bar service was attentive and entertaining! We got to see all the pizzas being freshly made right in front of us! I ordered the Big Crust Pizza and my husband ordered the burger special of the month (April) - Hawaiian inspired teriyaki burger with sweet pineapple. My pizza was soooo delicious! Tasted just like a Big Mac burger pizza!! Best of both worlds!! And my husband said his burger was the one of the best he has ever had! The restaurant has a fun vibe and they have many beers on tap! If you're not up for sitting at the bar for dinner, I recommend making a reservation. We had such a great time - we can't wait to come back!

Kanata version was lame, $$$, and mediocre. Via Cibo does a far better job on all counts.

I've been meaning to try this place for soo long and I finally did! And I wish I had tried it…read moresooner. It might actually be one of my favourite pizzas in the city! The restaurant is cuter inside than I thought. There are some window seats for people-watching on bank st. There are also some hanging lights by the windows. The pizza crust has the perfect crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside texture. It's so good it doesn't even need any dip. I tried both the nerd pizza and the mushroom pizza. The nerd pizza had pickled onions, black pepper molasses bacon, cheese and chili Basil honey. I loved the tangy pickled onions, with the salty-sweet bacon, and the spicy honey. The combination was just perfection. I could use a little more chili though! The mushroom pizza was a white pizza with portobello mushrooms, parm, and truffle oil. The salty parm and the meaty portebello mushrooms were a good combo, but I didn't really taste any truffle oil. I felt like this pizza was good but missing a little something to take it to the next level. Overall, the food was delicious. The drinks are reasonably priced (beer, local kombucha). However, the service was mediocre. I think they only had one or two servers working the entire area on Friday night.

Ordered 2 of their rotating menu pizzas tonight and was not disappointed. I'm not the type to…read moredeviate from my usual order once I find something I like, but I'm glad I did. The pizzas were light, airy and packed a lot of flavour into each bite. Super full now and I regret nothing

I live really close by but for some reason have never tried Georgie's until recently. I got some…read moretakeout for my husband and I to share. I got a Hot Turkey sandwich platter $13.75 and a slice of Donair pizza $4. They sell pizzas by the slice, but they are not displayed so you have to ask them what kinds they have. The day I went, if I remember correctly, they had 4 types: Cheese, Pepperoni, Bacon and Donair. Slices are $4 each or $5 with a can of pop. 2 slices is $8 or $9 with a can of pop, so no discount if you buy more. However, they do have a pickup discount, which is the equivalent amount to the taxes you would pay. So essentially if you pick up, they pay the tax :) The Hot Turkey sandwich platter was really good. It came with fries and coleslaw. I liked that the coleslaw was vinegar based and not mayo based. It was mostly cabbage with a bit of carrot. I enjoyed it. The fries were just regular fries but they were crispy and good. The sandwich had real turkey breast meat in it (can you believe that I once ordered a hot turkey sandwich and it was a deli meat turkey sandwich covered in gravy?!? Obviously not at this restaurant, lol). The bread was the regular white sandwich bread, but what really set this sandwich apart was the delicious peppery gravy. Man, that stuff is really good! The pizza was good too. They put toppings under the cheese here, which is not my preference, but I still enjoyed it. The donair was thick pieces and tasted more like sausage, but it was still good. The sauce has a distinct flavour to it, which I can't pinpoint, but I liked it. The crust was crispy and even though the crust was thicker than I usually like, I still enjoyed it. I liked that the slice came in a cute cardboard box. The platter came in an aluminum container, but the lid was styrofoam. I'm not a fan of styrofoam, I would have preferred a foil-backed cardboard lid. Service was friendly and I got my food pretty quickly. The restaurant is a strip of businesses along Carling Ave just west of Churchill Ave N. There's free parking at the back of the strip. There's a sign and you have to turn in before you actually see the strip of businesses (Georgie's, Sapporo Sushi, and a few other businesses). If you turn into the parking lot after the strip, that one actually belongs to a different strip mall (the one with Markie's Smoked Meat and Mr. Sub). There are signs indicating you can only park there if you are going to a business in that strip mall. Not sure what enforcement is like, but why chance it if there's also free parking in the proper place, right? Since there's a huge median along this part of Carling Ave, you can only access the restaurant if you are driving westbound on Carling. Georgie's has its main entrance on Carling but there's also a back entrance from the parking lot.

Simply put...AWESOME PIZZA…read more I have ordered from here a few times and I'm embarrassed to say I neglected to review each time before now, I was typically so hungry I just jumped right in... alas I digress. I have had a few different types of pizzas here, in the end my favourite is the cheese. Yup, straight cheese. Seems basic, but the flavour is outstanding and the dough ball to keep the box from sticking to the cheese is a classically delicious touch. I really like the flavour combinations of the cheese with the sauce puts many other to shame. If you are in this end of the town, give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed. I'll be back for sure.
