We were lucky to avoid the screaming baby on the front patio by enjoying a table on the side patio. Right away, the fine service began. Patience was a key factor, meaning the server's, as we read the menu like a mystery novel. And we all know perfectly well what is offered. A dirty martini with big, meaty olives is a fine way to start a meal. And we did. Later on we had Aperture Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp and elegant. Hits the right notes. Food? Did we have food? The grilled artichokes were plump and solid, just right. The asparagus were not to be outdone. Of course I was the only one who wanted carrots, until everyone tried them! "I don't like carrots, but I sure like these" said one of our guests. We had the skillet shrimp advocates on one side and the Moroccan lamb folks on the other side. We were all winners. A lovely espresso martini for dessert and our fine meal was done. Oh phooey, but we'll come back!

It also feels good to be supporting local winemakers with exceptional wines instead of corporations. Like almost all wineries and tasting rooms, it's very important to schedule your tasting in advance. We made an appointment in advance and did a wine tasting with Stringer Cellars. We sat down in their beautiful tasting room and were both blown away by all of their wines! They were all exceptional and we loved every one of the wines that we tried! On their website it says that their winemaking approach incorporates curiosity, grit, integrity, science, but most importantly the never ending pursuit of making great wine. We found that to be very true! It was an intimate experience to taste wines with the winemaker and it was a very educational experience as well. We loved learning about each of the wines, the wine making process, and the different wine regions where the grapes were grown. We were also able to tour the facility and it was an all around amazing experience! When you walk into Grand Cru there are wines showcased from the different wineries that provide wine tastings there so you can shop around and choose a bottle from a different winery if you would like to try out different wines as well. We absolutely loved this experience and will definitely be back!

And the ambiance was inviting and good energy was in the room! There had to be 6 wineries there today and it was a good friendly environment for everyone!! I tried most of the wines and there are good wines being made everywhere I often say this and it's true! The Mad Marvus winery and Cidery was who I started with! And all of her juice is Organic and made with no SO2 which is a probiem because the no sulfur idea is not good and in general causes funky flavors all through the line up! And then I went over to ONWARD WINES - and these were very good and delicious on the whole then I took in a break outside in the heat but covered outside area. Then back inside to start again with SCHEMA WINES - it's her first release and she makes 2 wines, the first being an Aligote white wine much like the Aligote's of Burgundy France, as she described it like a cross between Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and she also makes a very clean tasting Cab Franc. Nice Raspberry flavor juice. And then after that I went to TANSY WINERY, a nice but unknowlegable girl was working at the table she was sweet enough to get by the lack of knowledge and they were all Italian varietals and very good. Then I went to try the wines at the Grenachista which were overall delicious wines. Then another break and then I did the eponymous winery, the Two Sheperds Winery and most of what they're producing was great and delicious!! All in all I had a great time and experience talking to the winemakers and tasting through their wines!!

The wines we tasted were excellent, and we did buy a bottle or three - but you do that anywhere you go. What makes this a special visit was how we felt, that is - special! Our pup was welcomed and they invited us to enjoy our picnic lunch on the patio (come mid-week when there are less crowds!) and enjoyed our time talking to the hostess, who was very sweet, and the wonderful tasting room experience. An added bonus was the walking path ( you will see the sign when you pull in the driveway) that had a greenway and a special events location. This was in addition to the beautiful grounds around the tasting room, which has a wonderful history as a barn, a home and now tasting room(s). We will make a point of coming back when we come back west again!
