We just googled the closest crumpet restaurant near us while visiting the Buckingham Palace. Holy smokes was that a good decision. We hustled over here cause we all really needed to pee (spoiler this place does not have a restroom). We ordered food nonetheless. This was hands down the greatest crumpet breakfast I've ever had. So much so I came back to the states and tried to recreate it three times since (none as successful). It's the type of meal that you day dream about. The service was similar to a deli. Go up and place your order and wait while seated. The ambiance was of a small little hole in the wall type of restaurant but extremely cozy. Could not recommend them highly enough. read more

Simple food. I ordered an egg and sausage sandwich. They forgot the sausage... The crumpets were okay, but quite (unreasonably) pricey which is expected with its proximity to tourist spots. They were fluffy, light, slightly sour, generous toppings. I did not love their coffee which lacked flavor beyond the syrup added. We had to do the tourist thing and stop by Crumpets Cafe to get some breakfast on our way to Buckingham Palace. With my limited exposure to crumpets, I'm probably not the best judge but what I ordered was okay. I wanted a light breakfast so I just got crumpets with butter. My husband got the dish with smoked salmon; some of the toppings they usually didn't seem very fresh, which was a bummer. Located near Buckingham Palace, we went immediatley after the changing of the guard, which was a busy time. However, we were able to grab a table outside and recieved our food in a timely fashion. Came here for breakfast when I was visiting Buckingham Palace. They offered veggie juice, but when I asked for that, they said they had no vegetables for juice. So, then I asked for water to go with my order...and they charged me for bottled water when I was expecting a complimentary glass of water. Call me spoiled, but being charged a water bottle was not what I was expecting, and most establishments offer complimentary water that you can put in a cup. I was not pleased to have an unexpected charge for bottled water. I got the smoked salmon on crumpets, which came as 2 crumpets piled with smoked salmon, with a cucumber on top. The smoked salmon on crumpet was good. It was just what I was looking for in a breakfast: something with protein, but also light and delicious. What exactly is a crumpet? Its like a very light, spongy version of a muffin made from a batter (not dough). You can enjoy simply with butter, nutella, jam, or get more elaborate with smoked salmon and egg benedict. Crumpets was conveniently located near our hotel and close to Buckingham Palace. Its very casual - order, pay, and wait for them to bring your food while you sip on coffee or tea. Their Black Americano is very bold yet smooth! Between the egg benedict and smoked salmon crumpets, both were solid but I highly recommend the latter. The salmon did not taste "fishy" nor was excessively salty. It was just right and the add of cucumber made things lighter and refreshing. The bread was crispy outside and soft and pillowy inside. Much better than a standard English Muffin. They also have grilled paninis, pastries, and traditional breakfast items besides crumpets. read more

Not very friendly at all. Given its name, you'd think they'd have the very best crumpets. They were ok but not great. Also, no clotted cream. I was hopeful this tiny place would be better but it just fell flat. My son did really annoy the hot chocolate. read more

This is my second visit to Crumpets. I stumbled in on a work trip pre-pandemic, because I wanted to get out of the hotel and write a little. Plus I really wanted to try a crumpet. Win win. This time, I walked over a mile out of my way to revisit the pleasant experience. It was just how I remembered. The staff is friendly and I love the casual vibe. Had a flat white with coconut milk and a proper crumpet with butter and jam. There's just something really satisfying about biting into that slightly savory, warm dough, crisped just a little on the bottom from the griddle, and oozing with butter and jam gooey goodness that's seeped into the crumpet's pores. These are each fresh-made for each order. My colleague had one with smoked salmon and cucumber and enjoyed it as well. I'd love to try everything on the menu! read more

I wanted to try some crumpets while on my first trip to England and this was a great place to do so! We were planning on watching the changing of the guard and our hotel is steps from Buckingham Palace. This restaurant also is right around the corner from the palace so it was the perfect stop for breakfast. I had the smoked salmon crumpet and my husband had the eggs benedict crumpet. We both loved the texture of a crumpet compared to its American cousin the English Muffin. The food was made quickly and tasted great. The food is good, but cleanliness is severely lacking. Maybe it's my California sensibility, but gloves are meant to keep the food clean -- not the workers hands from getting dirty. I witnessed the cashier handling money and equipment without ever once taking off or replacing his glove. The food preparer also kept his gloves on while wiping his nose with his right hand's index finger, playing on his smart phone and of course all while preparing food with his gloved hands. The same gloves he never once removed or cleaned from what I could tell. This is during the coronavirus outbreak, when you'd expect higher than normal hygiene. We will not be returning. Cleanliness and sanitary food handling is important. It's not just something that's burdensome and can be ignored. read more

A quant little cafe in London. I stopped by after visiting Buckingham and wandered off for a little while. The many food options looked good and the service was really respectful and had no issues with it. The food on the other hand was just average. If you eat here, stick to the breakfast items. I had a panini and regretted not getting a big breakfast plate for around the same price. The prices here are just the same as other places but portions a little smaller. One cold Sunday, I set out on a walk to find food and stumbled upon this tiny little bakery, a short walk from St James park. There's not much to say expect they make lovely sandwiches on your choice of bread for a very reasonable price and the service is very friendly. I opted for scrambled eggs in a focaccia - a favourite of mine form university - and it was £2.90! A total steal for Westminster, where you almost have to pay to breathe. Crumpets is a tiny little bakery and sandwich shop located a short walk from the south end of Buckingham Palace in South Kensington. We found it while we were aimlessly wandering the streets, trying to find a good place for lunch. The place was reasonable for the price. You can either pick up something out of the bakery display, get a panini (also on display), order a specialized sandwich or make your own sandwich. I ended up getting a club sandwich with some fries/chips and I thought it was great. For the price, the sandwiches were a good size and quite tasty. My only complaint is that they looked a little understaffed, but the staff that was working there were all very nice. read more

We had about a 30min., window to eat before needing to be at Buckingham for a tour. We found this place just down the street and decided to run in and get something to eat. They had a good selection of sandwiches and pastries and a handful of warm items that could be ordered off a menu. My boyfriend and I each got our own sandwiches and then split a croissant sandwich. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and the breads were nice and soft. They also had a nice selection of drinks including fresh smoothies. Prices were reasonable, and our food was prepared quickly. The staff was very nice and helped us with making selections. This is a great place to run in and have a bite to eat or sit and stay for a bit if you have more time. read more

Nice little local sandwich and coffee place, family run and around for many many years. I go there for a good cappucino in the morning with one of their delicious pain au chocolat. Their sandwiches were a bit too plain for me (like white or brown bread? eggs or shrimps? mayonnaise or butter? etc.) but recently they started to do some more sphisticated Italian-stayle toasted sandwiches which are really good.
