My girls are very excited that their fave cookie place is closer to home. Service was fast and friendly.

I tried Pain D'Avignon because I was looking for something different and I haven't been to a…read morepatisserie for years. The interior is pretty basic, small tables and small chairs, so a person of substance such as myself didn't find the seating comfortable. I tried: - French onion soup: this should have been an easy win. I found the Gruyere cheese to be overly thick, and the broth to be heavy handed on the wine. - Steak tartare: this was a good dish. The beef was thin cut, smooth, and the egg was cooked just right so the yolk added richness that then got offset by the capers. Due to the richness, you may actually find that this could be all you need for a meal, despite it looking small. - Croque Madame: le sigh, what a failure this sandwich was. Over easy egg? Not today, over medium, so not much runny yolk but a thicker one. This is a gigantic salt bomb, in addition. They serve your water in tiny glasses and every bite led to downing an entire glass of water. It's good they were on top of refilling the glasses, but even then I finished a quarter of this before I couldn't take it any more. I did saunter over to the counter where they have a lot of good looking pastries, so we'll see if the ones I bought end up redeeming this place. As it stands, I can't recommend this establishment unless you'd like to try the tartare.

This is YOUR responsibility guys. Seriously? You stole her money, and refused to help her track something you claimed to have sent. Shit establishment. One star is too kind.

But for now it was one-and-done, in the middle of January, as the only person in there (with my cousin). And we packed a pint instead of getting scoops, so the presentation comes out a little different. 1. I love the flavor names. Really fits the locale. 2. Most of the flavors are along your standard lines. I liked the Mounds and the extra dark chocolate (with cinnamon!) that we pinted. 3. Despite the one review I spot, service was very friendly and patient. Ya know, it comes down to when you go and who's there. But everything points toward this being The Spot To Nosh when you come up to the Cape.

The ice cream itself is consistently good, with a nice variety of flavors to choose from. Staff interactions have varied between visits. On one occasion, the team was friendly, engaging, and happy to answer questions or offer samples. On another visit, when we were the only two customers at the counter, the staff seemed less enthusiastic--perhaps preoccupied with other tasks as they came out from the back room. To be fair, we might have pulled them away from other task they were performing at the time. Overall, this location provides quality ice cream in a pleasant setting.

I ordered an iced vanilla latte and a chocolate croissant - it was incredibly made, a perfect blend of buttery and flaky. The coffee drink was delicious too. Gratuity was included, but our service was so wonderful, we tipped on top of the tip. The turkey salad sandwich was the table favorite, and we were delighted to learn its on their regular menu! Guess we will be taking out a sandwich or two in the future... IF we can bypass buying one of their AMAZING SEAFOOD PIES in luscious sherry sauce and exploding with scallops, shrimp, fish... but I digresss. We were here for ME day (ok, so I DID take a pie on my way out...). $65 bought you 3 sandwiches, one of which was less than petite and oh so delicious with its home made pesto and brioche bun. The baby cranberry orange American scones were delicious and light (a light scone, right? Crazy), mini blueberry muffins, 3 lovely pastries and a croissant. Also included was champagne (or mimosa) and a cordial shot for your tea. It was all wonderful. Now, I'd take away a star for the young and weird counter staff. Seemed like either high school girls or early college - not really well trained (they didn't know much about anything, and were mostly confused and more interested in talking among each other)... I picked up a bag of croutons and it had a hole in it... their "fix" was to pour it into another bag! (GASP! REALLY? I hate to say this but it was a Legally Blonde moment). Thank goodness an "adult" or more mature professional stepped in and asked if I'd like a new bag... DUH, YES, RIGHT ANSWER. So the croutons and one of those evil seafood pies made it home for mom. I think the girls just need training (and some growing up to do - they weren't unpleasant, just... immature). All in all this place is beautiful, their offerings are wonderful and for the most part, the staff is great. Now that I'm here from my beloved Hudson (ok, I'm still mourning my Hudson town and former home), I expect to make Amie one of my favorite stops. OH, did I mention their coffee is also great? Time to think about one of their classes or other fancy pants-y events. Because it is "kinda" snooty with a down to earth feeling of "they LOVE what they do and do it exceedingly well".
