These are just a few of the bad experience I have had with Cruise Outlet. After Cruise Outlet sent me a copy of a cruise reservation, I noticed that the cruise line's website was still showing the cabin I booked as available. I then called the cruise line who informed me that Cruise Outlet reserved a different cabin in my name. So I called Cruise Outlet to rectify the problem and it took days for them to do it. One time I had to cancel a reservation due to a health issue and Cruise Outlet wouldn't cancel it for me until I sent them a $200 cancellation fee. Long after I sent them the check, which had cleared, I noticed that my reservation was still showing as active on cruise line's website. So I called the cruise line, and they told me Cruise Outlet never cancelled it. Since by this time it was getting very close to the cruise line's penalty period, the cruise line put me on hold while they called Cruise Outlet to cancel it my behalf. So the cruise line went out of their way to resolve a problem created by Cruise Outlet. When Cruise Outlet didn't give me a discount for my rewards program with cruise line, I asked why. They responded that they don't give discounts for cruise line rewards programs because their prices are discounted. However, the discount from Cruise Outlet was less than if I booked directly with cruise line. read more

Called to inquire about pricing, received terrible attitude and a fairly unpleasant experience.... stay away.

I was shocked when I saw the review by M.G. My husband and I have booked many cruises with the cruise outlet. I think by now including the upcoming one it has to be 20. We first booked with them when they were in an office on Dixwell and Benham. Then they moved to the Whitney office. Please do not be grudge them because their home office is not in an office building. They are 2 of the finest and nicest people you will ever meet. Horrible service. Cruise outlet charged hundreds more than the cruise line and refused to change booking unless they were given a cancellation fee (we didn't want to cancel; only wanted to pay what cruise line was charging). Because of their refusal to book the cruise line's advertised rate, they forced me to pay a $200 cancellation fee and book directly with the cruise line, to save $600. Our cabins could no longer be located on same deck and family couldn't dine together. I will never use this company again. read more

DO NOT BOOK YOUR CRUISE WITH THE CRUISE OUTLET OR HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM. First of all, The Cruise Outlet's address is not 2587 Whitney Ave as stated online; instead it's 190 Vineyard Rd in Hamden, CT. I think they are working out of the owner's home. The first sign of trouble was when I tried to make arrangements to drop by their office, & Neil told me that they are not presently set up for retail business, so they would mail me everything. Because I was paying for my family's cruise in installment payments, I emailed The Cruise Outlet to ask when my final payment was due. Some employee named Mike emailed me back & told me to look it up myself on the cruise documents they had mailed me. I immediately called The Cruise Outlet to complain about this terrible customer service & spoke with Neil personally (I think he's the owner). He apologized & said that he would personally handle my account from then on. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that Neil only checks his email once a week (unbelievable). So my choices were to either email Mike & receive a rude, disrespectful reply, or email Neil & wait a week to hear back. In this day & age, what business only checks its email once a week? My guess (although I don't know) is that this is a down & out family business being run out of Neil's home. Mike must be his son, because I can't believe that someone so rude & incompetent could be employed otherwise. In addition, I had accumulated cruise points through my Visa card, & The Cruise Outlet didn't know how to redeem them. They bragged about how they're in daily contact with Royal Caribbean; but when it came time to redeem my cruise points, they didn't have a clue what to do. Mike told me it was my responsibility to redeem the points & forward all the paperwork to The Cruise Outlet for processing. Once again, I called & complained to Neil, & he admitted that they had never redeemed cruise points before. Neil (or someone) finally figured out what to do, my cruise points got redeemed, & I never had to supply any paperwork. Neil also promised me detailed driving/parking instructions to the cruise line's dedicated parking lot with a complimentary shuttle to the port & a $300 coupon book to use on-board. Needless to say, I have not received any of this, & my family's cruise is only 2 weeks away. If I can save even one person the hassle & frustration of dealing with this unprofessional, incompetent company, the time & effort I put into writing this review will be worth it.
